We so wanted to like this place. It is close to home and I love the concept. The caprese appetizer was nicely done and we appreciated the good craft beer selection. But, the roasted cauliflower served with the scallop special was the saddest cauliflower I've ever been served. Bone dry, barely charred, lukewarm, and raw in the middle. It badly needed some balsamic or olive oil and definitely some seasoning. The scallops were delicious but could have been warmer. Another at our table had the scallops with scalloped potatoes and said his meal was served hot. The meatball sandwich special was really quite cold and bland. We went in search of UxLocale on the advice of a friend and I'm so happy we did! Living in the Northwest corner of RI really limits your dinning options to local pizza shops, subway, and crappy Chinese food. Well, we have found the promise land in UxLocale!!! Just a short 15-20 minute drive in the "right" direction and in the middle of a country stretch, tucked behind another building is signless gem. You can tell that a thoughtful touch was put into the atmosphere of this charming interior. Clean and I mean CLEAN, which I love! The menu is simple with some wonderful surprises. We tried the Smelts appetizer, awesome. Where do you see smelts on the menu? Get real, these babies were crispy and perfectly cleaned, just melt in your mouth. A special pizza with chicken and Gouda cheese, delicious. Next time we'll definitely try some dessert. They seem to have a nice selection of craft brews and wine, no liquor but who cares when it's really about the food! To top it off, the staff was friendly and welcoming. Wife and I finally stopped here for dinner, loved the sauce and bread! Unfortunately I had the special. Chicken Parmigiana was awful!!! The cook used chicken thigh, the breading fell off and was not cooked properly. Pizza was just ok. Sauce needs a touch of sugar. read more

This was probably the worst experience ever for the price. The soup was cold and and after this was brought to the attention of the server and brought back to us ; still not hot and served with a teaspoon. We were then virtually ignored. Except for the bread and dipping sauce all the food was visually unappealing snd bland and looked as though it was cooked in liquid for an extended time until all vegetables lost there color and texture. Others seemed to be enjoying there pizza's so perhaps this is just an overpriced pizza place. We will not return! read more

I took out dinner from UXLocale for the second time. This time I tried the cheese board. It was easily the best cheese I have ever had, including Formaggio Kitchen, Cambridge, and the Cheese Shop in Wellesley. The accompanying local honey was smooth and flavorful. My husband and I were so excited to come here! Farm to table is exactly what we wanted. However, the service at Ux Locale is terrible. I ordered a Shiraz wine and got something white. Fortunately the waitress was willing to give me the one I actually ordered. There was a list of specials and I ordered the mussels and shrimp with optional pasta. I told the waitress I wanted it without the pasta since I was ordering a salad as an appetizer. She seemed to not understand why someone would not want the optional pasta. I argued with her for a minute then told her to just add the pasta to avoid the confrontation. Meanwhile my Shiraz arrived with lipstick prints on the glass! I could see the full lip prints! I wiped the whole glass down with my napkin. They probably just forgot to wash it or grabbed one from the dirty dish pile, no big deal. We never got our appetizer. But after 35 minutes we DID get our entrees! Luckily, they were actually the entrees we ordered! The salad came out with the meal and it was the house salad, not the fennel and Brussels sprout salad as I had ordered. After only 15 minutes the waitress exchanged it for the salad I actually ordered. She even took the appetizer we didn't get off the bill, but wouldn't let us get a word in edgewise. We still wanted the app. It was a neat prosciutto and cantaloupe that we would have like to have tried. She wrote it down on her pad when we ordered it and it didn't seem that hard to make so we wanted to know if it had already been made and maybe we could still have it. In the end, we decided to just let her remove it from the bill since she was extremely flustered. Too bad though. I did get the mussel and shrimp special without the pasta, though a tip for the future would be to maybe add an extra little plate or bowl to put the shells/tails. It wasn't a big deal, I was piling them in my salad and just eating around the shells. I didn't want to be rude and put them on the tabletop. To give an idea on portion size, there were 3 shrimps and 16 mussels in the entree. The fennel and Brussels salad was awesome though! I've never had anything like it. Very unique. My overall opinion of the Ux Locale is that the chef is a genius, but she (or he!) should seriously consider giving practical exams before hiring staff. I would give this place a second shot. Obviously only if I were alone since I'd be too embarrassed to take family or friends with the state of their service! read more

Absolutely love the Ux! It's good home cooked food by one of the nicest families you'll ever meet. Everything we have ever tried was delicious, especially the funghi pizza! This was our 4th time visiting this place. We really wanted to like it. We had a pizza split a house salad, and some wine. . The pizza barely had a topping on it. We ordered it with Mozzarella, chicken, onion, and spinach. The only thing you could taste was the crust and the bland sauce. The other ingredients were non existent. This was the skimpiest pizza i have ever had. The bill $68. One skimpy pizza, one small salad, and a $36 overpriced bottle of 20 rows wine. The staff is friendly, the owners are nice, and the atmosphere is good, but 4 times, and have not had a decent dining experience. We are calling it quits for this place. read more

The food is absolutely delicious, similar to what you find in city dining. The staff are very friendly, accommodating, and passionate about the restaurant. The location is beautiful. The service can be very slow. It seems that most of the waitstaff are inexperienced, but they definitely work hard. The set up is also kind of awkward. Beautiful restored/ handmade tables take up a ton of room, therefore seating is somewhat limited for the amount of space the restaurant has. It seems the decor took precedence over the layout of the room, but it is beautiful. It can get very crowded near the door. Servers should use the second door to get to the patio and guests should use the first door to avoid congestion. Just an idea. Really hope this restaurant thrives as it's delicious and just what the town needs! read more

You really have to know it's there because it's not even obvious from the street, despite the fact that there is nothing but open fields and solar panels in every direction. But if you can find it on the back side of the farm buildings, you will be pleasantly surprised. Country ease meets hip gastropub in this hidden gem. read more

We were seated about 6 o'clock on a friday and the room was about 2/3 full. Service was very good. However the church pew seat was not to my wife and Daughter liking. They could not get comfortable. I was disturbed by the amount of noise in the room. It was a strain to talk across the table. The ladies spit a pizza and I ordered the carbonara. The thin crust pizza was top notch, my carbonara was bland and I thought overpriced. If I return it will be for the great pizza. Got to ask if the have take out. That would be better. read more

I'd been looking forward to trying this place for over a month, since we moved to town. I wish I could say I'm just being picky, but I am sooooo disappointed. We got three pizzas because of the daily special buy one pizza get one half price (and we didn't even get the deal on our check!) so I can only comment on the pizza as far as food quality. The other dishes looked great, but I am now doubting everything. We got the spinaci mostarda which was burnt and bland (all I tasted was unseasoned spinach), and the figaro which was not burnt, and tasted a bit better but still pretty bland and the balsamic drizzle was a trickle (not nearly enough!) We also got a plain cheese for a kids meal, which was fine-run of the mill cheese pizza. The food needed help, though it was fresh. However, I was baffled by the service-we must have had a crew of brand new employees or something. Our server didn't seem to know what to do most of the time, lots of hesitation and moments of silence. The glass tables and some of the awkward seating were a bit of a hazard for little ones, and by the end we had screaming children, but no check in sight (you'd think they would want to clear out the screaming child, right?!) and we had to get up to ask for a box and the check, WELL after we had finished eating. I may try take out just to try some of the other items, but I dont think I'd ever return to eat in at this place, which really bums me out. I was so hoping this would be our new favorite-I love local food and the flavor combinations sounded yummy. read more

Stopped by to check out this new local restaurant. Wasn't surprised that it was pub style. Cement flooring, tin chairs, pine walls and ceilings. Very open and extremely noisy. There were only a few people there on a Sunday afternoon. The waitress was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. We ordered the spinach and strawberry salad which was very good and large enough to split. It went downhill after that. I ordered the lobster ravioli "special." The raviolis had been fried to the point that I needed to saw through them with a knife; they were drowned in burnt butter and oil. The lobster inside was good--what a waste. My companion ordered the spaghetti and clam sauce "special." That's where it stopped. He had a funny look on his face so I tried it. The dish was unpalatable; was spicy hot and had a weird taste, nothing like clams. Maybe their pizza is okay? There's too many good pubs to waste your money on this one. read more
