I selected the vault out of 4 options Kelley's farm provided for my wedding. This one being the cheapest but still we paid over $5,000 for 100 people for a pasta, salad and green bean garlic (no meat) we decided no meat because it would be another $600 to add chicken to the pasta and just couldn't fathom dropping anymore money for food. Sandra is the only person we were in contact with the whole time. It was honestly hard to get ahold of her. Usually took days to reply to email and she was never in office when I would call during her business hours, Even trying to make our final payment was a pain and she just acted like it was an inconvenience to her that we were bothering her to make final payment??? Finally day of wedding came. Let me start off by saying the staff was GREAT! Very attentive had our food served to us which was nice and everyone was doing something to help contribute cleanliness(This is the only reason I am giving them a 2 star and not 1) . when I tried the food I was embarrassed. The cheese on our pasta wasn't melted, nor was there any sauce on it. The green beans were hard and cold and the bread I couldn't even rip in half it was so hard. I just remember sitting there looking at my husband like what the hell did we just spend $5,000 on???? But I just want to say again the staff was great especially the bartender. My fiancé and I have both spoken to Sandra. If I could give her a 0 I would due to her poor attitude. Back in May my first email and call with Sandra was very awkward. No where on her website does it say she has a minimum. In the middle of emailing her she tells me "we have a $3500 minimum" as if to excuse my business and that's all she put in her response. I gave her a call to remove the confusion since she was being so vague. She then told me the bar service and upgrades would not be enough to get me close to that.... I ended up having to ask "are you saying you can't cater my wedding because I don't reach your minimum" (which I was more than willing to pay and I was not looking for a discount). She then proceeded to tell me "if you would like to save money I suggest you go elsewhere" (I didn't know my finances were her business). I was shocked she turned me away and just figured I'd give her a call at a later date. Then comes my fiancés encounter with her yesterday 6-30-22. My Fiancé had called her and when he told her the location was in Enumclaw (which I disclosed in my first email in May) she said that was "out of her range but he could check back in a couple of months to see if they extended it". This is a total lie considering the other locations she has posted on her Instagram are just as far! Since my fiancé didn't give her his name I figured she wouldn't know he was MY fiancé so I decided to try to contact her again. I emailed very politely yesterday 6-30-22 and complimented her work and let her know that I was more than willing to pay the minimum and I would love to set up a tasting. I just got an response from her Today 7-1-22 that they are apparently booked out on my wedding date as of the last 24 hours one year from now. I mean with the way she turns away business this seems like a total lie of course. I don't know how we offended her considering we have never encountered her before these exchanges. Anyway, judging from the other low reviews of this place and my encounter with this woman she has very poor communication skills and wouldn't know what customer service was if it hit her between the eyes. We are so happy with the service provided by Sandra from The Vault. We struggled somewhat to find a caterer we trusted to feed everyone for our wedding (good food was one of our top priorities for the reception). It seemed like many places we looked were either overly expensive, or the food just wasn't quite what we wanted. Even before we finalized our menu, we knew we wanted to work with Sandra and her team so we went ahead and booked her even though we didn't end up settling on our food until about a month prior. If you're going to use The Vault and happen to need a florist (or just need a florist in general), we can't speak highly enough about her daughter Jordan. The two of them worked fantastic as a team and they took so much of the stress off us. We knew they would ensure our reception was perfect. They did everything from picking up all the glassware, linens, table settings, etc from Court rentals, to setting tables, arranging flowers, and serving the food/alcohol. Having one person (Sandra) to oversee the whole food and beverage service and setup for the reception was awesome because we didn't have all these different vendors to deal with on our wedding day. Sandra and her team at the Vault and her daughter Jordan handled everything. We are very pleased with their work and we have nothing negative to say. We chose to do the Southwest menu with chicken and beef which was delicious (used to live in San Antonio so we know a thing or two about good Mexican food). Our families and guests all loved the food as well. The beef was most popular but the chicken was also great. We chose to hire a bartender from The Vault and he was fantastic. Very professional and his service was on point. Several of my family members complimented us on the bartender and asked if we hired a friend or how we had found him. One nice and appreciated touch was that Sandra packed Bre and my food to go. You'll find that you don't eat much at your wedding, and having something to eat later on is a very appreciated and thoughtful gesture. I was incredibly pleased with Sandra and her team. I was in the wedding so I heard secondhand many stories about how inconvenient it was to work with Sandra specifically. I've only heard negative feedback about her and her attempt at providing customer service. It's unfortunate to get on Yelp and see that my dear friend was not the first to experience this behavior from Sandra. Sandra and her team from The Vault Catering are incredible. We used The Vault Catering for my daughter's rehearsal dinner (at the Tacoma Armory) and wedding reception (at Thornewood Castle). Firstly, and most importantly, the food was incredible. Everything was delicious, beautifully laid out, expertly cooked. The mashed potatoes at the reception were a crowd favorite. The chicken was incredibly tender, and the salmon was so moist. For the rehearsal dinner, we did a taco bar, which wasn't just delicious but also very convenient. Everybody was able to get up and socialize with their food. The Vault's staff is even better than the food. Everybody was cheerful and helpful. From our first email back and forth I knew that they were going be the best. Sandra herself is a rock star. At one point I'd said that I hadn't had a lot to eat with all of the activity going on that day, and before I knew it she was ushering me back to my seat--she'd already fixed me a plate without me even asking! She was incredibly accommodating and also very, very gracious. I seriously can't say enough good things about her. I can't recommend The Vault enough. read more

Don't book events here. TPS: This place sucks. Stay away. Zero stars if it were possible. Why? How about a Letterman-style top ten! 10. They are unbelievably rude. 9. The service is lacking - all you're getting for your 20% is plates cleared. They're not going to refill water or do anything other than place bottles of wine on the tables - you'll have to pour yourself. 8. They will charge you in advance for things they will also charge your guests for at the event itself, which is totally unethical. 7. They'll agree to things in writing and then in the end argue with you about it and once you point out they agreed in writing, they'll jack up another charge to cover their "loss" in one area. 6. They won't provide the services you prepaid for - coffee with your cake? Plates for your cake? One won't happen at all, and the other will take ages after much discussion during your wedding reception. Just what you want to be dealing with, right? 5. They leave all the lights off downstairs and only unlock one door when they host events upstairs. Super welcoming for guests that you're paying $60 plus a head to entertain. 4. The service charges vis-a-vis the actual service are entirely disproportionate. 3. They are inflexible and entirely unaccommodating and generally don't seem to much like being in the events business, so you should probably help them get out of it by not going there. 2. The prices are way out of league with the product. Go to a hotel instead, where there is competent service to be had. 1. They are comfortable telling lies to try to pressure you into doing what they want you to do, and they're pretty surly when you catch them at that game. You've been forewarned. There are much better places for your party or reception than this joint. I was a guest here and I was horrified when I compared notes with the host afterward (they charged him for sodas and non-existent iced tea, for instance, and they ALSO charged the guests at the event; they charged him for coffee which was never served; you had to go to the bar for a glass of water since they never refilled the carafes at the tables; they claimed they didn't have a knife to cut the wedding cake...). Making the host of a $10,000 event look cheap is really lousy, and for that little bit of dishonesty alone you shouldn't patronize this place. read more

Don't do it! If negative were an option I'd take it. We had a charity auction for Children's hospital yesterday that they catered and they were just awful. The lady in supply was rude to everyone - honestly a down right bitch. We were not in her venue. We paid her company to supply food, and she acted like she owned and ran the whole show! She made us arrange things to accommodate her 3 little trays and 2 bowls of food. We bought the plates in advance for the dinner and refused to let us use them, demanded we get small "dessert" sized plates for our auction's dinner. We literally had people using 5 plates for what was pretty much picnic food. The pulled pork is obviously made with liquid smoke because it was saturated in it, yet still dry.The potato salad and cole slaw sat out well over 2 hours on the table without being chilled. Icing on the cake - caught one of her staff in the men's room pounding beers during our event. Just as the event was ending we went looking for her because one of our cake stands was missing, only to discover the entire catering company peaced out. They were totally gone - not a word to any of us that they were leaving. Events are how companies spread the word, network - our members and guest were left very unhappy with her attitude and below par food. If you are looking for catering, Galluccis in the Tacoma area is fabulous. Hands down the best food, best staff! They catered my wedding and were fabulous. Our DJ didn't show up, our cake melted on the 90* day, the wedding was a hot mess. As a matter of fact they were not in the contract. The Director/Manager was awful to work with. She was hard-nosed, cold and unaccommodating. Terrible, horrible customer service. Paid $600.00 for a DJ only to find out that there isn't a real dance floor. So people had to dance on the rug. She (manager) offered to bring a floor in for $250.00-$500.00 extra charge. We were told that parking was free, only to find out it wasn't, except for about 20 spaces. You could rent the parking lot for $320.00 additional dollars. Everything turned out to be additional. We recently held a corporate event at the Varsity Grill. My company was looking for a venue that could offer a large room, some AV equipment, and good food for our guests during our presentations. I googled the area, and emailed several local restaurants for their capabilities. Janin responded immediately and answered my many questions via email and also made herself available over the phone. When you are booking an event, sight unseen, it can be a scary proposition. Janin alleviated most of our concerns quickly. The day before the event, I went to the restaurant to actually "see" the room for the first time. We were in the upstairs room, over the restaurant. It was quite large and would fit our needs for sure. The only thing I'll say in the negative is that the room was a little "tired" and it smelled a bit of old smoke/cigarettes. Now, my only other concern for the day of the event was the food. We got to the room about 3 hours prior to our event and got our demo tables set up. Then we had a team lunch at the Varsity Grill downstairs - the food was good bar food. Everyone enjoyed their lunch, and we felt pretty confident about our menu selections for the conference. When we went back upstairs, we met Sandra (wait staff) and Jesse (bar). They were friendly and accommodating. Sandra set up the buffet area, as well as providing us with our requested trayed service. The food was hot and kept filled. The cold fruit was delicious and fresh. And I will say, once the tables were set up and the food was out and the people were in the room I didn't smell smoke anymore. The reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is the wi-fi was static at best, and we really needed the wi-fi for our event. If the wi-fi was not an issue, I'd easily give 5 stars. I know the Varsity Grill/Vault had some iffy reviews in the past, but our experience was really good as far as the personnel, the food and the overall good feeling we had throughout. We didn't have much choice with using Sandra and her team as they are the mandatory caterer for the space. That being said the food was amazing, her staff were wonderful, she was able to work with our budget, the food was presented beautifully and the event, including set up and take down, went off without a hitch. Sandra created a menu that reflected our needs of wanting a northwest/tacoma infused menu but also Italian. They specially ordered Bimbo Sauce (Tacomans will know what that is) for use on our pasta. I had worries that the chicken would be dry like many bulk made meals are but it was amazingly tender. She made sure to send us home with leftovers (both the booze and the food!) and all the cake that was left. She also made sure that we got a plate of our hors orderves to have while we waited to be announced into the venue. We had a snafu with the venue (who uses her as the mouthpiece but doesn't actually give her any teeth to change things) and she was responsive to the concerns, financially reimbursed us part of the venue fee and offered to make us a dinner for 2 to make up for. My sister had this catered at her wedding at Kelly's farms. It was flavorless and cold. For the price my parents paid we were beyond disappointed as were multiple guests. This was not the same food we tasted months back prior to booking. Also, they failed to put out an entire sheet cake from the wedding cake and several people, including the bride (my sister), didn't get cake. Would not recommend at all ever. No one has EVER contacted me about any of the reviews I have left in various places. This business is so unprofessional it isn't even funny. It's always scary when your responsible for providing a meal for a large group especially for a special occasion like a rehearsal dinner. I worked with Sandra and she was awesome!! I never had to wait for a response when I had questions or concerns. She was always reassuring and comforting that everything was going to great! Sandra came through for me!!! We loved working with Sandra for our wedding! Im kind of a procrastinator but Sandra was always so quick to respond! We had Mac and cheese, pulled pork, rolls, coleslaw, baked beans, watermelon and veggie trays. Everything was delicious and our guests still rave about the food over a month later! They provided a dessert bar for us with a cutting cake from Celebrity Cake Studio. There was plenty of dessert to go around and the dessert package actually saved us alot of money! The only things that bummed me out was one staff member cut up and served our cutting cake and we were only left with one small slice to take home. We used the Vault for our wedding at the Pagoda and Sandra was really helpful planning the set up and working with us to meet our needs. We had the BBQ package with brisket, chicken, mac n cheese, coleslaw, potato salad, watermelon, and cornbread. The food was amazing and people are still talking about it. We had a lot of kids so they provided a kids menu at a fraction of the cost. The kids were raising about the chicken nuggets. We were a little disappointed when we asked to pack up a doggie bag for the hotel that night (bride and groom don't really get to eat at their wedding so we wanted to be prepared) but when we got to the hotel and opened up the packaging, all that was in the container was chicken! We were so disappointed. Additionally, I wasn't impressed with their pricing structure. We rented linens and flatware and were charged a service fee of 20%. This was on top of the fee we were being charged for the wait staff, food, linens, glassware, ect. Felt nickeled and dimed. So in reality, our food was not $19.99 per adult, $3.95 per child, $1-something for lines, etc, but $30 per person total. read more

After many taste testing events and looking at many catering companies, we'd decided to book the Vault Catering for our wedding. They seemed to be really on top of things until the actual day of our wedding. We actually had our reception in a local venue in Lacey, and had the Vault bring the catering. I supplied my own linens and did my own set-up the day prior for everything except the food and buffet. I had given them a specific timeline, called the day before to confirm everything was set to go, asked about packaging leftovers, and was very adiment about having a dual sided buffet line. One of the major reasons I chose the Vault was because of their pricing strategy. I was told you could pay staff hourly wages to basically do whatever you needed them to instead of paying 1.00 per person for cake cutting, 1.00 per person for champage toast, etc. I also used their bartender services for an additional fee. When I arrived at the reception, the food buffet had been rearranged to a T shape, allowing only 2 lines at a time. When I questioned the change in set-up I was told they had booked too many events and didn't have adequate supplies. Really???? I spend almost $10,000 on food and that's supposed to make it better? I had specifically asked if I should supply to go containers for leftovers, and I was told they would take care of that for me. The day after the wedding it was brought to my attention that their method of packing leftovers was to place them in garbage bags inside my empty cupcake boxes. I ended up with 2 tiers of cake because they didn't pass it. When we went to do the champagne toasts, not even the bridal party had champagne yet. The taste of the food was as good as I expected, but the service of the wait staff and sticking to the agreed upon items didn't go well. For the price I paid, i could've saved a couple thousand dollars and had a catering company just bring food and hired people off of Craig's List to come serve the food. read more

The Vault Catering was on point for my son's wedding. We chose the bar-b-que menu for the guest, in order to offer a variety of beef, pork and chicken, while keeping cost down. Everyone raved over the beef brisket and mac-n-cheese, but it was all fingering licking good. The staff had time to make my 4 year old grandson's dinner plate, so we could enjoy our meal, and they kept things orderly and clean. If I would change anything about the Tacoma Armory location for a August wedding is the need for air condition. Sandra, thank you for giving us a wedding event to remember.
