TVM in La Pine is one of my favorite establishments I have ever frequented in my life. I would consider Jodi a friend, and enjoy our conversations as much as the delicious fresh produce he sells. You always see him working his tail off in there - rotating product, wetting down the highly perishables, or organizing the awesome condiments they sell. We count down the days every year until the stand opens, and weep when it closes. Shoot, we go in when we don't even need anything just because we want to shop there. We will forever and always be loyal patrons of TVM. read more

Things were fine at this stand until they asked for tips on the sale before you could sign your receipt. We had gone there for years. Produce is more expensive and not a lot local, but it's convenient and they were nice so we chose to support them. She complained that it took them 3 hours to set up and tear down when I mentioned their new request for tips. It's bad enough that restaurants now give you a per entage choice for a tip, but the fruit stand? It is their business and their pricing which should cover their labor. They have no employees so just the two of them. I chose not to give a poor review here until they removed, responded dishonestly, and blocked my comments on Facebook, for them a free way to advertise. I know at least 3 other people that will no longer go there due to this tip request. We don't tip the clerk at stores either and they also work hard. It is disappointing that they chose to treat loyal customers this way. They showed their true colors which is not nice. read more

In the category of vegetable and fruit stands, The Vegetable Man stands out. Local produce, of course, but what a great selection. Very reasonable prices. Parking is a bit squirrelly but manageable. read more

I was told by a friend that The Vegetable Man (who I have driven by a bunch but never stopped) was doing produce boxes. Guys, seriously stop what you are doing and sign up for a box. Like right now. I got the freshest assortment of delicious produce for only 40 dollars. It is such a steal. read more

Product is great, but claimed my $100 bill was fake (with absolutely no verification technique). Couldn't even believe it when she said that. She also was extremely accusatory with how she worded it. It came straight from the bank. I also went immediately to the bank after to verify it. The owner was super nice and told her to accept it, but pretty offended after that. Very friendly staff! Knowledgable and customer service oriented! This summer they had boxes - this was a true game changer during Covid for our family, the ease of convenience to order online was phenomenal. I enjoy being able to ask for bulk for canning with the comfort of knowing the produce will be fresh from the farm. I appreciate the recipe ideas from the staff! When asked whats for dinner it was easy to go to the stand and see what was in season. Clean and healthy eating made easy. So grateful for this stand! read more

I stopped here to stock up on produce and it's a lovely place with a great variety of local vegetables at reasonable prices. Great Service as well. Most of my produce was excellent however the lug of peaches I bought which were beautiful to look at were terrible. Some of the worst I've ever Had. In anticipation of baking, I purchased a half flat of blackberries. When I got home, I set them in my fridge so that later I could clean them. Imagine my irritation to see literally half of the berries (the ones in the bottoms of the paper baskests) were smashed and moldy. Totally unsuitable and a waste of money. I rinsed the salvageable ones in a vinegar/water suction to hopefully do in any mold spores. And even now, I'm questioning using them as the sight of a $25 half flat so tainted with mold has my stomach churning. Normally, I have not had issues with TVM...but now, if I need berries I'm off to Safeway. read more

Today I went to buy a few good tomatoes, lettuce and whatever else looked good. I was again blown away by the prices of some of the produce. I felt most of the produce was way overpriced. Heirloom tomatoes were $6.99/lb. There were some from Canada for less but I was hoping for local ones at a reasonable price. I went to the 1/2 off box and found three decent tomatoes. This isn't the first time I've felt like I was being ripped off when I've gone to VMP. When I went to check out the cashier said my total was $9.30. I knew the head of lettuce I'd picked up was $3 so that meant the three 1/2 priced tomatoes I was buying were $6.30. I questioned the total and it was discovered I was charged twice for the head of lettuce. This is the second time I've questioned the total and found I'd been overcharged. If you shop there pay close attention when your items are being rung up to avoid paying more than you should. Perhaps my belief of what a vegetable stand should be is all wrong but when I drive away feeling like I've been gouged, it's not good. read more

Every year this opens in the spring, I am so excited. The peaches and plums are so sweet, apples are crisp, and the quality is way beyond anything you'll find in a grocery store. If you haven't had produce from here, you have not yet lived. read more

I love this company! Whether I am shopping there stand during spring, summer and fall in LaPine or getting my winter veggies from them at the pickup in Bend! They keep supplied with fresh produce which is so important for someone who can't have gluten or dairy. Without them my diet would be severely limited. I am so grateful to my veggie man! And the last recipe he gave me I wasn't sure I would use because I love my brussel sprouts plain but now it's become one of my favorite recipes and I eat just that for dinner! They are so good th their customers! read more

Did you know the Vegetable Man does weekly produce boxes? ME NEITHER! Until last week anyway. I saw an add for them in the Bend Smart Shopper and immediately jumped online to look. No long term commitment (YAY!), weekly orders only. Excellent prices for organic fruits and veggies, and I can confidently say that since I've used other services around Bend in the last few years. Not that the other services aren't great, I love Agricultural Connections. But after picking up my 1st box from the VM, it's clear you get more bang for your buck with the VM. $23 got me literally enough organic veggies for 2 people for a a week. And that was the smaller box! The VM has been around Bend for a long time and I look forward to buying produce boxes from them in the future! read more

We got some peaches, apricots, nectarines and cherries there a few days ago. Vegetable stand prices but pretty much supermarket quality. We like to buy local and want to give the little guy a break but this fruit really wasn't any better than you could have gotten across the street at Freddies. One of my favorite places to stop for fresh local produce. Great selection and variety. Prices are very good. This past week they had 4-5 different kinds of tomatoes. Fresh corn. Local honey from Redmond. Peaches and other fruits including strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Garlic and onions and peppers. How do I love The Vegetable Man Produce? Let me count the ways: 1.) The quality: If a product is not in season or is inferior, they don't stock it. You are not wasting money on produce that looks good on the outside but lacks flavor (like you'll find in most grocery stores.) Everything is delicious! 2.) The price: You will find me at the produce stand at least once a week. I get at least twice as much produce here than anywhere else in town for the same price! 3.) Organics: I am so excited to see more organic items introduced into the stand. I have been picking up the organic Fuji apples every week for half the price of Whole Foods organic apples. 4.) Ryan, Sam and the Vegetable Man family: The nicest people you will meet. They introduce themselves, answer your questions, offer samples, and truly are happy to serve you. I love people with a sense of great customer service. 5.) Local: This is a huge one for me and part of why I am writing this review. I have lived in Bend all of my life. I work for a local business that provides services for restaurants/retail shops all over Central Oregon. I am making an effort to keep my business local as often as I can. The Vegetable Man is one of the best ways to do so. They fit my budget and they offer great quality products. I am promoting them because I believe they are one of Bend's best business and I don't only want them to survive. I want them to thrive. If not, I have to give up eating vegetables. That's my only option. Honestly, forgive the gushing but I really am grateful we have The Vegetable Man Produce. If you haven't been there yet, please do so soon! I do a lot of business at the south 97 The Vegetable Man...even have gotten our Christmas tree from them the last 2 years. I wanted to point out an employee , Jeremy, that happens to be the most helpful, personable, "go the extra mile " employee that stand has ever employed! I ended up with a flat of berries that turned bad by the next day, he immediately made the situation right, no questions asked....he understands the importance of customer service, a real asset to this business and I continue to shop 2 to3 times a week because of that customer service!! read more

Produce is unbeatable and a huge selection is available at all times, but prices are a bit spendy. It's very easy to spend $60 + on a decent selection of produce, but so worth it...especially the heirlooms and boysenberries. Also, their staff is so friendly and helpful, they almost make the trip to the other side of town worth it for all my produce shopping. Overall, a great farmers market! read more
