I purchase my sandwiches at Newport Market, the reason I purchase them at Newport is the sandwiches are made on Big Ed's Bread.

Who knew one could find Paris quality croissants in Bend, Oregon?…read more We were in town for our family reunion and two summers ago we held it at the Paris Olympics so our point of comparison is valid. Twice I went to M's to pick up a large assortment of pastries for our family of 21 and everything was outstanding and compared favorably to the best we had in France. We were staying at the Riverhouse Lodge and it was an easy 7 minute drive to get to the Old Mill location with plenty of parking. Both days no chocolate/almond croissant, which was sad. Standouts: - almond croissant 5/5 - chocolate croissant 5/5 - ham and cheese croissant 5/5 - gochujang twist 5*5 (so unique and so bummed they didn't have it the second day) - kouigh amman 5/5 - almond pecan sandie 5/5 Solid choices: - monkey bread 4/5 (a bit smaller than what I'm used to and more bready than pastry, no frosting as I'm more used to seeing) - milk bread 4/5 (solid offering) - blueberry scone 4/5 (a little bit too fruit forward so very messy to eat but still yummy) - blueberry buckwheat muffin 4/5 (also a bit too fruit forward so very messy to eat, but still yummy) We didn't try any of their breads but the selection looks great!

This week I stopped in at the Old Mill location itself for coffee and a couple pastries. - Cinnamon roll: comes drenched in sugar glaze (as is proper). Delicious. - Almond croissant: Tasty with good flakiness. There were a lot of other pastries available that I would definitely try. Coffee was decent, too.

Cafe des Chutes is a cute, European-style cafe that invites you to slow day and enjoy a pastry and coffee on their patio. During each visit, we ordered coffee and at least two items to try a little bit of everyone. I loved that they were offering samples on both days that we went - one day was the Oregon roll and the other was their specialty bread pudding. I was sold on the Oregon Roll! This is their speciality, rolls up marionberry jam inside a croissant with a hazelnut butter glaze. Other items we ordered included the pistachio croissant, peanut butter brownie, Brie and fig jam baguette, jalepeno cheddar scone, and seasonal bread pudding. Everything was a chef's kiss! You can't go wrong here. Be prepared to drop a bag you won't regret. We spent at least $50 during each visit but we were satisfied with our selection. I still dream of this spot and highly recommend for anyone looking for a good cafe outside of downtown Bend!

We came here for a weekend lunch, ordered baguette sandwiches, coffees, and a hazelnut cookie. All were delicious and they had lots to choose from! We enjoyed walking around afterwards, as the area is perfect for a small outing and shopping. Lots of available free parking as well. We'll be back!

They have breakfast and lunch and a solid kids menu. The pastry case looks great! I love that there are gluten free pastries and clearly marked menu items without gluten. I had the Benedict with carnitas on a gluten free bagel. The pork was delicious. The portion was generous. Lots of Hollandaise sauce. Crispy potatoes. All very good. I couldn't finish. My husband had the breakfast sandwich (not gf) and said the lemon aioli was great. It's out of the way if you are staying near downtown, but worth the drive.

We sat outside in the heated tent with our fur baby - they are dog- friendly. Food & Service are fantastic! Lives up to reputation for being best Brunch Spot in Bend. Hubby had classic Eggs Benedict that he said was very good. I started with a warm Chai and a Bobbin for Apples Mimosa which was magical. Having read the reviews I was prepared to order the stuffed croissant French toast. Last minute change of heart- I ordered the Gobbler, a roast turkey sandwich on a croissant with a flavor profile reminiscent of Thanksgiving. The sweetness of the fig jam played well with the poached pear, savory turkey and peppery arugula. Dessert will have to wait until our next visit. The pastry counter at the front of the restaurant displays cinnamon roles, scones, muffins and impressive cakes. There's even a marionberry and white chocolate bread pudding that would make a wonderful brunch choice.
