Such a cool concept. An old high school that's been converted to a marketplace with a variety of shops, eateries, and entertainment offerings. There's a bar and a small arcade. A restaurant in the old music building and another in the old gym locker room area. You can find a listing of vendors on their website. It seems like a nice variety. Twice every month (every 1st and 3rd Saturday) they do a market days event where additional vendors set up their tables in the hallway selling anything from baked goods to antiques. You can find their schedule and info on Instagram (@taylormarketdays). Multiple parking areas surrounding the buildings. The shops are in the main (two-story) building and the restaurants are next door. Awesome experience even if you don't buy anything. Just running your hands along the old lockers and peeking into the old defunct auditorium is a thrill!

The Taylor Mansion was everything we had imagined for our big day and more. The grounds were well maintained and everything was in full bloom. A few reasons why we picked The Taylor Mansion: 1. The location, its in the city but felt like the country. 2. The crystal ballroom, a beautiful well air conditioned room that had the elegance we were looking for. 3. The endless photo opportunities, the house and grounds have multiple areas for perfect wedding photos. 4. The owners, Lindsey and Robert! They were there to answer any questions and advise us throughout the whole experience. You can tell this is their passion. They are helpful and kind venue owners who went beyond our expectations and helped make our day truly magical! The arena itself is covered but mainly outside so dress accordingly. The bleachers are a bit tight on nights with a packed crowd, but everything was visible from our seats. You can tell that this facility is well taken care of and that updates have been regularly taking place since it was built. The Jumbotron at the end of the arena was great for watching replays and didn't appear to have any broken/missing lights. Overall, this is a great place to catch a livestock show, rodeo, or concert!

Tables were placed in front of the 2 far dance floor exits and the exits by the stage have been blocked off. Management allows people with beers and open cup drinks on the dance floor and couldn't care less about what is spilled. During the Neal McCoy show, 1/3 of the dance floor was taken up by people standing and drinking. This was once an amazing dance hall, now it's just another place to charge folks high prices to listen to music.

The staff was flexible to shift timing of the experiences so we didn't have to wait long in between- they were extremely accommodating and we never felt rushed either. The otter swim/playtime experience was originally what drew us, and it was even better than I'd imagined. Worth every penny! Then we got to feed and pet the capybaras, which were way friendlier than I thought they would be! The babies enjoyed some extra belly rubs too. Bottle feeding the kangaroo was so fun too- little Dundee was SO soft and loved all the pets, even gave us kisses! The giraffes were super friendly and greeted us every time we were nearby; feeding and getting quality time with them was an extra treat. The safari ride tour was also amazing- 5 of us fit comfortably and got to feed/see lots of animals that we wouldn't normally get to experience. We were surprised at how this place wasn't crowded at all in the middle of July when it is peak vacation season, so it really felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. They also have a beautiful main lodge area that is comfortable and welcoming with additional animals to enjoy.

I had the opportunity to attend a wedding at One Eleven East recently and was blown away by this venue. It lent itself beautifully to a 2020 wedding- with such an open, airy aesthetic that you feel compelled to throw up a pic on your IG because you're suddenly at 'influencer-level gorgeous' standing against these white bricks with that fabulous golden-hour lighting. Let's talk about logistics. As a guest, Hutto is definitely not right near Austin, but the Lyft ride wasn't bad at all and the wedding had set up a shuttle bus to get folks to the Austin hotel after the wedding. I'm not sure how many Lyfts or Ubers you'd find if you went searching at 11pm, so the shuttle back was a big plus. The venue itself had two large spaces (one presumably for the ceremony and the other for dinner), with a bar space and an outdoor area (cocktail hour vibes). I didn't see a kitchen, but this wedding had dinner set up as a buffet in the now-empty ceremony room, catered by a BBQ food truck out back. There's an upstairs area for the bridal party to get ready, which presumably has a bathroom (I didn't get up there. I was a +1). The bathroom sitch for guests included a women's room with a couple of stalls and shared sink/mirror space and one single men's room (which caused a bit of a line, but not terrible). Overall, if I was an Auton...ite? Austonian? Anyway, if I lived in Austin, I would absolutely consider this venue. It's minimalist, historic vibe allows you to forgo the unpleasant hotel ballroom pipe-and-drape decor, and you can add a few bits of greenery and call it a day with decor. FABULOUS!
