The food at the view just continues to deteriorate. We were loyal view customers forever but we're finding it difficult to even go there. The menu is poor and food quality has consistently deteriorated. No wonder it was empty on a Friday night. Whoever is responsible for the menu and food and beverage needs to recognize they are failing. The only bright side was the server. She was too notch. read more

Went here tonight for dinner. Nicely surprised, the view was excellent. Sat outside and the weather was great. Ordered boneless buffalo wings (garlic hot sauce) w/ blue cheese on the side. Were cooked well w/ good seasoning. I don't think they were freshly made but they were ok. Happy hour allowed us to get 50% off drinks and discounted wings (well worth it). Burgers were cooked perfectly, bacon was not over cooked and the fresh cut fries made the meal nice. Only draw back was the fries were not that warm. Our server Matt was on point, ask for him. The menu lists several gluten free options.. however they are not really gluten free due to the fact that they are not prepared in a dedicated fryer. Do not recommend their "all you can eat" crab special. Made reservations at the time they opened and within an hour we were told that there was no more crab left and even heard them turning other patrons away. Mind you there was only one other table ordering the "all you can eat" crab. The $2 margarita special was 99% Jose cuervo margarita mix, we ended up ordering shots of tequila to add to our drinks (which was $8 for a well shot). The first crab order came with 2 crab halves. The refills (we only got 3) only came with 1/2 of a crab - most also missing legs or a claw. The server seemed annoyed at any request we made - many of us work customer service jobs and have been servers before so we were very kind and considerate & did not understand the attitude. Definitely not worth the money & believe this was false advertisement for "all you can eat". Also - the all you can eat only applies to the crab - you have to pay extra to refill the biscuits and coleslaw. read more

Friends of ours from Florida were staying at the hotel, so we met them at the lounge for drinks and food. We started at the bar. It was busy, so it took a while to get drinks, but the bartender was friendly. We then moved to tables and by then there were about 20 of us, most of whom ordered food. We were cautioned that the food would take a while, but it was made worse when our waitress said that someone else took our order and it had to be remade. To top it off, the food was sub-par and not even warm. It was almost impossible to get drink refills as well. The waitress was nice but didn't check back with us very often. The worst part of the experience, though, was when we were asked to vacate our tables and move to the bar side of the room because the staff wanted to clean up that area. Instead of asking us nicely, one of the staff said "you need to go to the bar because we're cleaning this up." Then they proceeded to slam chairs onto the tables as hard as they could to get us to move. RUDE!!! I will never go back to this bar and restaurant, and I know our friends from Florida would never stay there again because of that experience. read more

Stayed for 3 nights at the hotel and I have to say every night there seemed to be staff at this restaurant but nobody working. I waited way to long to even get a beer. The food was not good. I had a delicious burger at The View, but what truly made the experience exceptional was the wonderful service of rarity in my past visits. Marlene greeted us with a big smile, displaying genuine happiness and serving us while we used to frequent the The View but we stopped due to the previous service issues. We came here for Thanksgiving with no expectations and were blown away by the food and the service. They had a buffet for the holiday, which typically I would not care for at all, but this one was so well done. Salads, sides- especially pumpkin ravioli and the dressing, four proteins, beef, ham, salmon, and turkey were delicious. The whole event was very well run with a lot of the management team working to keep the buffet refreshed and running smoothly. I would highly recommend for a holiday event! read more

I've stayed at the hotel twice this summer and went to the restaurant multiple times during the stays. Regardless of how busy the restaurant is, the service is god awful. The employees are miserable and need to find a new profession; they clearly aren't made for hospitality! Plus food and drinks are subpar and expensive. We only went back the second weekend because of the convenience factor, but that experience was so bad, between the cold food, slow service and just uncalled for attitudes from both the hostess and the waitress, we will never go back! read more

Terrible experience. This is our third and final time in 3 years coming here. If you come, be prepared to wait an hour for subpar food. The food and menu used to be good, but not anymore. The salad was soggy and gross. They forgot one of the orders of fish and chips that took 50 minutes!! The fish tasted great when it eventually came, but the fries were very over salted. The filet was well cooked but they over seasoned it to the point that it couldn't be eaten. The veggies were also doused in heavy salt as well. The baked potato was good. Never again. Very disappointed! They need a new chef as everything was over salted and over seasoned. Do not come here! read more

Worst experience with service!! Had a dinner reservation and after 20 mins of sitting at our table we are told that we couldn't place any order for food for 45 minutes!!! And it would be a very long wait after we did. It was a Saturday night at Penn State University and impossible to find another restaurant. We should have been called and told of the problem or at least told when we arrived for our reservation. By the time we left it was 8:30 and after several attempts to find another restaurant, we ended up at a pizzeria, lucky to have had dinner at all! I called in an order for take-out -- fish and chips, a bune, and a slice of vanilla cheesecake. While placing my order, I asked the guy on the phone (later found out it was the bartender) if there were onions in the coleslaw as I am severely allergic. He gave a loud verbal sigh of annoyance and said he would have to back to the kitchen to check. I asked him if he could do that because, again, I was allergic. Another loud sigh of annoyance. When I arrived to pick up my order, the bartender was so sloppy - shirt half untucked, unkempt hair and facial hair. My order was sitting on the bar - I waited 5 minutes for him to count money at the register and asking another patron, who was leaving, if he wanted another beer. After paying for my order, I checked the bag and there was a clear container with my bun, a container with fish and chips, a container of coleslaw, and a box (which I thought was my cheesecake). I get all the way home - a 20-minute drive - and the vanilla cheesecake was not in the box, but another bun. I called the restaurant and the lady that answered the phone said the cheesecake was sitting there for me...uhm, why was it not in the bag? And it wasn't sitting there when I was there. I sure wasn't driving 40+ minutes to pick it up! The fries were so over-salted they were inedible! This restaurant is the height of incompetency! There were literally only 4 people in there and they managed to screw up my order this badly! UPDATE EDIT: I called back to give my credit card number for them to remove the cheesecake from my bill and they went ahead and voided my entire ticket. That was nice, so I upgraded to two stars, but I can't in good conscious recommend the restaurant as the food was sub-par. read more

I wish I could give this restaurant 0 stars. We ate at the bar (which is still apart of the restaurant but open until 10) and we arrived around 9, a full hour before closing. Our waitress didn't come and take our order for a solid ten minutes after we sat down and then it took a full 45 minutes to get our food. Over this time period our waitress had disappeared. I came in wanting to get a crème brûlée and i knew their kitchen closed at 10 but our waitress was no where to be found! When she finally came with our food I asked if I should put in my dessert order now or wait until I was done. I was told that I could wait but she then came back around 10 (the closing time for the kitchen) and said I needed to put it in now. I ordered and 20 minutes later she comes out with a "custard". This thing was half-done. It was only the custard and when we asked her where the burnt sugar on the top was she said the chefs were ready to go so they put in the bare minimum. We asked her to take it back and she comes back with something worse than before. The custard was separated and it looked like it had been put through the broiler.
