The food is good, but they close at 1:30 PM. By the time you get out of church and get there, it barely leaves your time to eat food before they are rushing you out the door. in my opinion, they should stay open at least until 2 PM like most restaurants do if not later. read more

This is a sweet little bakery and cafe on the square of the historic town of Pendleton. I have been here several times and have enjoyed myself each time. One side has a bakery where you can watch the delicious goodies being made. The other side is a small cafe. Although there is limited seating I have never had to wait for a table. I haven't gone on the weekend (pretty sure the Sunday morning brunch would be a different story). A friend and I met for lunch at 1:00 pm on a Wednesday. My friend had the Café Club with the pasta salad and a sweet tea. I had the Quiche of the Day, the pasta salad and a hot cup of Clemson Sunrise (Vanilla, Caramel & White Mocha). The pasta salad wasn't my favorite-next time I'll give the potato salad a try. The service and food were very good. The café closed at 2:00 pm. Since we were still visiting, my friend and I grabbed our drinks and walked a few steps to the center of the lovely town square and found a swing to continue our conversation...but that's for another review. The Village Bakery & Café is worth a visit whether it's to grab something from the bakery and enjoy a cup of coffee or to meet a friend for breakfast or lunch. Lovely outing. read more

We went for a private party in the back room with the Sunday brunch buffet. There were lots of food options. Mediterranean food, breakfast items, pastries and desserts. The food was good. The danish and pancakes were the best. There coffees were huge and had a large variety of flavors. The waitress was very attentive. read more

Another friendly coffee/bakery shop. Had lunch there and bought some bakery items. The food is amazing. I had the roasted vegetable sandwiche with macaroni salad. The sandwich had so much flavor, the bun I toasted on a griddle with butter. This sandwich is wonderfully messy!! Loved it. My husband had the chicken strips and fries with apple coleslaw. The chicken breast was covered in and extra crunchy batter the fries had a beautifully spiced flavor to them! Quaint and rustic place with loads of different coffee flavors. Right now many of the flavors are seasonal. Eg Peppermint coffee. Bon appetito! And enjoy the square and the town atmosphere while you're there! read more

All you can eat buffet and you get two choices- Greek or American. It has been on my bucket list to eat humus and falafel etc but I am scared to go alone. The food choice is excellent, and the buffet is great. The only problem with this place is that parking is a little overwhelming, and sometimes it takes a while to get in, but it's well worth it, especially if you have between four and six people. Large groups might want to plan or do something private, but other than that, I gotta tell you, the food is worth it. You'll have a better experience if you arrive early and are prepared. My mother and I visited on a Friday morning and it was *just* cool enough to sit outside. The hostess sat us immediately and we were treated to a DELICIOUS sandwich (we ordered the same thing) - the fried green tomato club! The sandwich was HUGE and it was super delicious. The fried green tomatoes on the sandwiches were fried in a delicious batter and cooked to perfection. Fries were incredible, too! Our server was outstanding - checking on us when she needed to, but never too intrusive. We enjoyed our meal so much and, afterward, went to the adjoining bakery and bought some eclairs to take home to my sister. Absolutely incredible! A true Mediterranean/Lebanese buffet brunch is what you'll find here on Sunday! The pastries are authentic too! It was crowded but we were not kept waiting too long? Server was attentive and cordial but it was buffet style so about the same? The business is in an old store with casual seating but clean but had that old times appeal that added ambience? Food was slightly bland but I suppose my tastebuds took a few bites to grasp the idea a breakfast of this type? I've been her numerous times for lunch and for pastries to go with my afternoon java infusion. I went for breakfast for the first time last week and I'm not mad about it at all. Holy moly! Why have I been going other places? Seriously! Because they're attached to the bakery, the café benefits from all the delicious bread choices. I chose the raisin challah - it did not disappoint as toast. For a future note, this is what they use for their French toast. Dually noted. My eggs were perfectly done and the potatoes are cut in large cubes; perfectly seasoned; crispy on the outside, light and flaky inside. For those of us who don't use dairy in our coffee, they offer almond milk as a non-dairy alternative. I'll be back and if you've not been, you need to check it out. What has happened to this formerly lovely place? We went to the bakery side 8:30 this morning- the floors were filthy, the tables were dirty and chipped, the painted walls were chipped, the chairs were in poor repair. It looked forlorn. And even the offerings looked a bit skimpy. The empty display cases don't help. The blueberry scone I had was almost tasteless; not sure if it was missing sugar or salt. Fortunately the service remains excellent. I'm going to try one more time in hopes it was just a bad day. read more

I ate here for breakfast once the service was great neat little country Cafe the food was very reasonably priced the iced coffees were amazing and huge I would say my only complaint would be that they charge you a percentage of your bill for using a credit card and they do that before they know what how you're going to pay return to have the buffet on Sunday and there was some delicious food there again the staff was really friendly it was a great experience both times would highly recommend this read more

Excellent German food. The servers are always friendly and attentive.Their bakery allows us to choose from an array of German specialties.

The food is great but the dining area is too crowded and the service is not good unless you're just there for bakery items. They are much more attentive. Try the pinch cookies. They're amazing. But don't go to the restaurant side if you're in a hurry. read more

I'm new to the area and this was my first visit to Pendleton. After a wonderful visit to the local bike shop, I walked a few doors down to this lovely, small-town, country style soup and sandwich shop. I am not too much of a stickler for prices but the prices on their menu are very misleading. It says $1 toppings with no prices for the veggies. On the receipt, they charge .50 to .75 more. The Price for the cafe club is also incorrect. Overall, it was an extra $2. Not a big deal, but still misleading. Otherwise, the food was nothing special. The Fries were super good but the BLT had one small slice of an end tomato. read more

Have been here twice and plan to come back many more times! The first time I came was for Saturday lunch and I had the fried green tomato sandwich. It was enormous and amazing. I haven't had fried green tomatoes in awhile and this hit the spot. My friend had fries with her order and I will be returning just for those! Today I went for Sunday brunch and it was phenomenal. There was a huge selection of starters, different dishes and dessert. The buffet was constantly being catered to by the workers, which kept it fresh. There was a great mix of breakfast and lunch items. Some favorites from my meal were the creole shrimp and grits, the Mediterranean flatbread, the assorted pastries, the French toast, and pasta salad. Maybe it was just us but we were a little confused when we first walked in to the bakery as far as how to order and where to sit. Of course we figured it out when we walked around to the other side. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. I ordered the dish called the Village skillet I believe. The portions were very generous. The food was flavored and seasoned perfectly. My date is a chef and he was quite impressed with the breakfast he ordered. I also had a caramel latte that was the perfect amount of sweet. I had the pleasure of stopping by this little bakery and restaurant while in the city of Pendleton. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with choosing what we wanted. They seemed to offer a wide variety of seasonal and special flavors. I opted for a simple hot chocolate and enjoyed it. I hoped for it to be a little bit more gourmet, but it was still tasty nonetheless. The price is comparable to that of a regular coffee shop and even then we thought it was a little steep. So a friend drops off a biguet. Tells me (who's from NY) "this is great bread!". OH MY GOSH WHERE DID YOU GET THIS!! THIS IS FANTASTIC". That's how I found this magnificent bakery! Not really sure if it's even fair to just call it a'bakery'. Although they are the best I have found since I left NY 20 years ago. They also have the most delicious venue of food they serve in a cozy sit down area. Their coffee is very good, and the espresso that I have makes me feel as if I'm sitting down in Little Italy.... GREAT! The menu..... Well, personally I go out of my way to have their loX cream cheese and bagel platter. Oh did I mention their bagels and pastries they make? AMAZING! I can go on and on about their menu, but to be honest, I've hesitated to share this find. Despite our waitress walking back and forth past our table numerous times she literally stopped waiting on us. After about 20 minutes we got someone else's attention so that we could order. Their cajun Shrimp and grits was very flavorful, the grits were creamy and the shrimp were plump and cooked to perfection! I've had a different meal each time I have visited and every one has been fantastic. Good, friendly service always as well.

We stopped for a "quick" lunch. They were short staffed so not quick today. But if the meal had been great, I wouldn't be writing this review. My husband had their quiche of the day which was overcooked and virtually tasteless. His potato salad was subpar. My tomato/mozzarella/pesto sandwich on focaccia was mostly bread. Without us complaining they told us prior to our meal being delivered that they were discounting it due to it taking so long. We did purchase some baked goods to take home and they were great. We went there because we had been given a gift certificate. We wish we had just used it on bakery items. The wait staff were very nice.
