I have been going here or alterations and dry cleaning for over 3 years now and I would not trust my dry cleaning and alterations with anyone else. My first visit I needed measurements for a Sari and while some places charge for this service they offered to do this for free for me. The staff is always friendly and learned my name after only a few visits. I am short so every pair of pants I buy needs alterations and every time they have come out perfect. While this place may be on the higher end price wise I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for", and the Village Clears place has never disappointed. read more

I have been making The Village Cleaners my regular dry cleaning establishment for about three and 1/2 years now. The women who work here are very friendly and make an attempt to get to know you by name. They do alterations, dry cleaning, laundering, etc. I feel like it is a bit more expensive than your average dry cleaner but I also feel that they do a consistently good job with your items. Also, check the part of town that this place is in. UR, River Road crowd. Lots of tennis moms and UR girls with tons of dry cleaning to pick up and drop off. I hate it when I get stuck behind one of them when I am trying to pick up or drop off a couple of my simple shirts and they are dumping a bag of mixed wool, blend, linen crap on the counter while also making sure the nice folks at The Village Cleaners got that wine stain out of their linen blouse. Im really disappointed in how my wedding dress came out after having it cleaned here. It was a dress that belonged to my cousin and she wore it on her wedding day. In the last 6 years that I've had it, I'm guessing the box got wet and there were a few stains down towards the bottom of the dress. She assured me when I dropped it off that they would do all that they could to get them out. Well today I picked up my dress and the stains are still there and hardly any lighter than when I dropped it off! $350 to clean this dress and I'm not any better than when I started. Now I'm not sure what to do whether I should find another place to see about getting it cleaned or if I should just find another dress all together. I'm heartbroken because I had really had my heart set on wearing my cousins dress.. I feel like if they were going to charge $350 that should come with a guarantee that the dress will be CLEAN when you pick it up or that $350 should be extremely discounted. I am only posting this in hopes that no one else wastes their money on getting their wedding dress cleaned here. read more

I am a University of Richmond student and have been going to this cleaners for the past two years. My experience here has been great . Although the price can be a bit expensive, the staff are extremely friendly (greeting you with a smile as soon as you walk in the door and making an effort to get to you know you). Most importantly, my clothes have always been treated with great care. I have not had any problems with my clothes the past two years that I have been going here, and I plan on continuing to take my clothes to this cleaners for at least the next two years I will be in school. read more

The service is friendly enough but they are outrageously priced, especially for the quality. I took a pea coat to be dry cleaned and, while the stains were gone, all of the buttons were loose and about to fall off when I picked it up. This was a brand new coat that had only been worn a handful of times, so the buttons were in perfect shape going in. Unfortunately, I did not look at the coat until about a week after I picked it up, or I would have turned around and asked them to fix it. I'm giving them two stars instead of one because I'm not sure they would have fixed the buttons for free, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. read more

If you're just looking for the basics and aren't too picky... and can put up with uneven service, you might be satisfied with this place. After a number of recent mis-steps -- delivery dates not kept, etc. -- I'm moving on. At the prices there guys charge, you should expect and demand better. Update: I took the dress that Village couldn't clean to Park's Cleaners and they did it perfectly for half the price.

First and last visit. This dry cleaners did not clean our garments at all and still charged my wife an outrageous amount. Stay away from this establishment! read more
