This is such a cute venue with lots of character. I attended my friend's small wedding reception here during the evening. I was assigned to sit in the little club house/outhouse (not the potty kind). The table that was set up in the room sat 8 but thankfully only 6 were assigned to the enclosed area. It was decorated with artwork that's for sale. I'm sure my friend had the maximum people allowed as it was a tight fit for not just our seating area but all around. There was one secluded round table set up away from the action near the front meant for the kids. It turned out to be a refuge for some adults as the kids left to make s'mores at the opposite end. If you end up coming here, I suggest wearing flats. I wore slip-ons with a pointed heel and was nervous walking around. There are two sets of a few steps leading to the elevated area where the bride and groom took their first dance and later where the fire pit was set up. While in the club house, my heels kept getting stuck in between the stone/brick tiles. Also, my dress got snagged by the wooden chair. The one bathroom is located in the back, to the right, and up the stairs of what looks like apartments. They placed a few candles on the steps to guide the way. This particular evening, we were forced to park in the public lot down the street but late enough to no longer have to feed the meters. Any other day, there is street parking. read more

This is the most perfect venue for small events. My wife and I got married in Palos Verdes and had our reception at the garden. We fell in love with the place when we first saw it and it was perfect for what we wanted. At some point I thought it was going to be too small but there was more than enough space. Our reception was amazing and everyone had great things to say about the garden and even better things to say about Sophia. Sophia was available the entire time while planning and while the event was taking place. She helped with everything. She also took amazing pictures while we were dancing, eating and drinking. It has been 2 months and I am still amazed at how great it all turned out thanks to Sophia and her garden. read more

My fiancé proposed to me on Saturday at the Village Garden and it was the most amazing location. The garden is whimsical and romantic, especially at night. Our friends and family were able to hide in a small room and actually hear the whole proposal, and popped out to surprise me after. The owner Sophia really helped plan things and was very nice and helpful. He was able to bring in his own food and alcohol which was also just so great -- they are very accommodating here. Very bad attitude when I called. I was being very polite and gentle, but the woman who answered my phone was really rude and unprofessional. She even said that she was too stressful for an upcoming event tonight. What? That is not professional!! Had our rehearsal dinner here in March 2015 and it was perfect. An eclectic garden, my out of town guests enjoyed the proximity to the ocean so that they could watch the sunset on the pacific from across the street. Easy to find parking if you have your party after 6 PM. We enjoyed cooking s'mores on the firepit, and we really liked that you could bring your own catering. We did a taco guy and it was really good. You can bring your own flowers and decorations and Sophia provides table cloths. A very nice place for a baby shower, birthday, or rehearsal dinner, it's kind of like a fairy garden as an intimate space. read more

My husband and I were recently married and held our wedding reception at The Village Garden, It was an absolute dream.. We were taking a walk around the Redondo Riviera Village when we stumbled across the whimsical Village Garden patio. We had been trying to find a reception venue after our original pick fell through, and the Gardens beauty and whimsy paled our original venue by comparison! We met with the owners Rocky and Sophia about using the space and they couldn't have been more wonderful. Working with them to create our vision was a dream, especially having already scoured the entire lower half of California for a venue and had met many a venue owner, manager, planner with all their rules, hidden fees and stipulations. Rocky and Sophia are the sweetest, warmest couple who made it so unbelievably easy and fun for us, soon I was just stopping by to chat with Sophia about wedding dresses! The event was absolutely magical, the night surpassed all our wildest dreams. We had yet to see the venue at night, so when we entered to see the outdoor garden at twilight, lit up with twinkling lights, bulbs strewn across the trees and candles lit in every corner, it took my breath away! We had a small, intimate reception with cocktails and hors d' oeuvres, although the space could have held a larger guest list. We had the most perfect rehearsal dinner at The Village Garden. It's a magical, beautiful venue. Sophia, the owner, has such a magnetic personality and it was so fun to work with her in planning our event. She is super helpful in giving recommendations for the space and for answering any questions you may have. She also took pictures throughout the night, which she posted on Facebook and are so fun to have! Our guests absolutely loved the setup of this venue and it made for a fun, intimate evening where we all had a blast catching up and sharing some good food and drink in preparation for the wedding day the next day. I highly recommend this venue for events and I would love to throw a birthday party or some other type of fun event here in the future! read more

I was interested in booking my wedding reception here, however when I called and spoke to Sophia she said she was in the middle of getting ready for an event and asked me to call back in an hour. When I called back she was very rude, gave very minimal information, was in a hurry, and hung up the phone while I was still talking. My husband and I rented this space out for our Wedding Reception, following our ceremony at The Wayfarers Chapel. Our reception was celebrated in the afternoon, and Sophia, who runs the Garden, was very accommodating in allowing us to partially set-up the day before, so that it wasn't so hectic for us to get everything done the morning of our wedding. She was also present throughout our reception, helping to make sure that things ran smoothly. The rental rates are unbeatable when it comes to wedding venues. My husband and I really wanted a casual, backyard sort of feel for our reception, and that's exactly what this space delivers! You really can set it up however you imagine. Many items are available to rent or not, depending on your needs - from a bar, to a fire pit, umbrellas, and even a real owl! We were even able to fulfill our wish of having a food truck cater for us. They parked directly behind the venue, and it worked out great! The only downside are the space limitations (around 50 guests), metered parking, and the bathroom - which is oddly positioned around the corner and upstairs from the event space, which was a bit difficult for our elderly guests to access. But for us, that was all forgivable with the fact that they allow pets! We were very happy to have been able to include our dog in our celebration, which is a permission rarely granted at event venues. If you are planning a wedding in the Rancho Palos Verdes or Redondo Beach area, I would highly recommend you check out The Village Garden as a possible reception venue! read more

Came here last Saturday for a friend's surprise birthday party. It's a very cozy relaxed courtyard full of whimsy! Plenty of interesting things to look at that bring a grin to your face! The Village Garden is magical! My boyfriend planned a small bday party for me here and we had a wonderful time! It's a beautiful, whimsical oasis - you would never know you were on Catalina Ave in Redondo. At night with the lights, firepit, and pretty backlit glass mosaics, it was the perfect little spot to spend time with friends. Sophia was so nice and welcoming! We even were able to bring my dog which made the night complete ;) I know she was very accommodating during the planning and helped with recommendations as well as doing whatever she could to help set up. If you're looking for something small and intimate for an event this is the place. I hosted a bridal shower here for my dear friend, which loves the outdoors and earthly places. Mother Nature decided to ran on our parade though, literally. It was not only pouring rain, but there was thunder and lightning. We quickly had to accommodate the situation and Sophia did a wonderful job...we had to move the event upstairs in a small waiting area ( at least so our guest could eat a dry meal). Luckily by the time our guest had finished eating the rain had stopped and we were able to continue the event outside. Sophia was very attentive throughout the whole process, even calling us the day before about the weather changes and our options. We had the most beautiful wedding at the Village Garden. We loved that it was in the heart of the Riviera Village and so close to the beach, which allowed us to take sunset photos before our wedding. I am so thankful to Sophia who allowed us to be creative with the venue. She let us come in and decorate the garden to make our dream wedding come true. The Village Garden has a charm of its own and it's so amazingly beautiful at night. I was absolutely taken by how magical the garden looked when I walked in for the first time for our ceremony. From the front entrance, all the way to the arch where I met my husband to be.....I was just in awe, how truly beautiful this place became. Enchanting and just the right intimacy for our small but quaint wedding. We had so many compliments about our wedding and the venue. It was truly a dream come true. I can't tell you enough how helpful Sophia was the night of. She was super welcoming and friendly to all our guests and so helpful in every little thing that we asked of her.
