Memory care is an absolute nightmare. The floor is like fly paper, they do the laundry, but never even turned the clothes right side out and just stuff them in the drawers, and they have one supervisor that they rely on for seven days a week 24 hours a day. That is an impossible job for anyone and they're too cheap to find extra help. There is very little mental stimulation for the people in memory care. I think it's all about the money and they hope the memory care people don't remember any details to report to their family. The staff doesn't even notice a guest walking in at times. All of them are over in the corner, looking at their telephones. I had walked in more than once to find my family member lying on a bed directly on the plastic! No sheets, no blankets no nothing. We also had numerous pieces of jewelry come up missing from the memory care unit. Granted, we shouldn't have had anything expensive there, but still you like to trust the staff.. Say no to their memory if you love the person you're looking to place there!

This last year during the COVID virus has been challenging for all senior communities. TCW has met the challenges head on, and has been proactive in all areas where needed to continue to keep the residents safe and healthy. From delivering meals directly to each resident, ensuring to screen residents for infection, monitoring and cleanliness, following state mandated guidelines, coordinating that all residents are vaccinated and working daily to keep each resident engaged in the community during a global pandemic, I applaud the staff. There are so.many outstanding and dedicated staff members that have gone above and beyond to ensure the residents quality of life is the best that it can be. In a pandemic, that is no small feat! TCW is a beautiful facility, filled with caring residents. My mother loves this community, the activities, the staff, her lovely apartment and her friends. Just walking in the door, makes you realize that happy residents live here. Thank you TCW staff for all your commitment. So glad that 2020 is over, and the virus pandemic is resolving. I was extremely impressed with the facility and location, but it was the staff that really made my decision. They are thoughtful, and love all of the residents. Mom could not be happier as she is very social and loves the multitude of activities. She does not drive anymore, but has plenty of opportunities to go wherever she needs. Mom has already made many new friends so she is never lonely. She is constantly saying how happy she is and how she wished she had moved here 10 years ago.

There was a high turnover rate of care givers and other staff. Costs increased almost 20% within a year. The memory care is on the third floor of this old run down building, and she hardly ever saw daylight. They'll lure you in with a big song and dance, and then they'll put them in wheelchairs and they just sit there forgotten. Promises of 'activities, field trips, walks, porch visits'. It was sad and depressing every visit, and the third floor smells like pee. My mom was spry and could walk fine when she got there, and when we finally left for good not even a year later, we had to wheel her out because she never walked around and lost abilities, she was unbathed for weeks, and with a UTI. It's quite a shame. No one there, including the employees, are truly happy.

It was quite stressful and frightening to realize that we were at this point in her life and would have to trust in others to take care of her. We love the staff and so does our mother. They treat her with such kindness and care. It is such a relief to have such wonderful people care for our mother. They treat her like she is their family member, not just a resident at the property they work at. During COVID, it is especially hard as we are not able to visit on a regular basis and do the things we typically would for her however the staff is always there to assist us in whatever we need. During this disturbing time they have provided my mother and the other residents with a safe and healthy environment and adhere to all the health guidelines. I would highly recommend making this your loved ones new home if you should be looking for an assisted living/memory care property. The last director was superb and residents loved him; he sincerely cared about them. Corporate fired him. Residents wore black and wrote letters in protest. They had a terrific chef who prepared healthy meals and homemade baked goods; they fired him too. The current chef creates unhealthy meals, runs out of food and has fired so many servers that they have to serve buffet style. They hold meetings regarding the meals, and residents complain. Everything is written down and improvement is promised, but nothing has changed in the last month. Some residents are actually not eating and preparing sandwiches on their own. For the rent they charge, and the fact that these are elderly people, many with health issues, you would expect more value to be placed on serving quality food. Most are very upset and disappointed. Apologies are made, but no changes. I hope that I can write a more positive review soon!

The facility is just like someone's home, a very clean home. Meals are home-cooked. The staff know each resident, and they are always, ALWAYS patient and kind. There are activities. Staff manage medications impeccably. The health, safety, and comfort of the residents is at top of mind of every staff member. It's impossible for me to sing their praises high enough. If you need peace of mind for your aging loved one, you cannot go wrong with Mayfield Oaks. They are your extended family.

After a long period trying to find the best option for our mom and having to move in and out of various properties, we realized she just could not adapt well to the larger communities. The resort-like atmosphere of those places was very appealing to us, as younger adults, but once you got past the flashiness, it was always missing was the love and care you get when living in a smaller place. The attention our mom receives now is better than even we could give her in our own home. She fell in love with Mayfield because it reminded her of her own house and she feels like she is living with family - and the staff has truly become our extended family. It's been the single greatest choice we have ever made.

We brought my mom to live here after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She did not come willingly…read morebecause she didn't understand her illness and was a handful when she arrived. Suzanne and Chuck went out of their way to make the adjustment as smooth as possible. After a few short weeks, she loved it there. All the workers were extremely kind to her. We had a few minor hiccups with her medications, but that is to be excepted and they were quick to fix the problems. Eventually my mom was placed in their memory care and I was happy with the care she was given. They helped get my mom on hospice and kept me aware of the hospice staff and how they were doing. The biggest gratefulness I have towards Benton House is when my mom fell and fractured her back. We thought for sure she would have to be placed in a nursing home. They were wonderful to accept her back and told me this was her home. She died a few weeks later, but happy and grateful that she was able to live her final days in a place she eventually fell in love with.
