Do NOT put your loved one in Memory Care at Historic Roswell Place. My mom was here and…read moresignificantly declined due to lack of care and neglect. There was a high turnover rate of care givers and other staff. Costs increased almost 20% within a year. The memory care is on the third floor of this old run down building, and she hardly ever saw daylight. They'll lure you in with a big song and dance, and then they'll put them in wheelchairs and they just sit there forgotten. Promises of 'activities, field trips, walks, porch visits'. It was sad and depressing every visit, and the third floor smells like pee. My mom was spry and could walk fine when she got there, and when we finally left for good not even a year later, we had to wheel her out because she never walked around and lost abilities, she was unbathed for weeks, and with a UTI. It's quite a shame. No one there, including the employees, are truly happy.

She seems eager to help individual family member of the residents in her care. Vanessa - spent time with me explaining how the two outstanding bills will be posted. She was easy to talk with and made clear what I can expect. Weekend staff - Toni as well as the person designated to help Rick that day, and the Sunday wellness staff person were helpful, showing what truly seems a calling for this kind of work. When I left, another staff member (male) went over to talk with Rick, making it easier for me to leave. Dwana - We had a nice talk on Sunday about life in Evergreen in general. It was she who suggested that I notify Shylonda of some housekeeping needs for Rick. I don't know if she, and your other staff, have a real idea how important, how comforting such short talks can be to new family members. It truly matters. Toni - I spent most of my staff time with Toni on Sunday. She could tell I was distressed over the evangelical nature of the activity taking up the full common area (not the learning room closer to the patio), as well as the lack of anywhere else for Rick to be for the approximately 90 minutes they were there. I know she will be reaching out to Stephanie, and I am grateful to her for rescuing Rick and me. When I entered Evergreen in the midst of singing and preaching, Rick said, "You rescued me!" Toni understands that we are not Christian, and she took us out to the patio and encouraged Rick to sing some of our Unitarian Universalist hymns. As you know, memory and music are a pretty amazing pair. I deeply appreciate both the initiative she took, and what, I'm sure, will be her follow up with Stephanie. You and I and your staff will continue to communicate often as Rick continues to adjust to Memory Care. I wanted you to know, after some of the bumps that you've worked out for me, how grateful I am. The prep and paperwork went very smoothly and efficiently, so she could move in on about two weeks notice. Also, the staff worked closely with her doctor to make sure all the medical forms were completed in a timely manner. And in the brief time my mom has been there, I am overwhelmed with how wonderful and caring the staff is, and how communicative they are - having a very comprehensive orientation meeting where I get to meet all of the staff leadership, and several of the staff initiating calls and texts to let me know how things are going (I live 3000 miles away in California). It gives me incredible peace of mind knowing my mom is in good hands and actually enjoying her days at Arbor Terrace!

We brought my mom to live here after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She did not come willingly…read morebecause she didn't understand her illness and was a handful when she arrived. Suzanne and Chuck went out of their way to make the adjustment as smooth as possible. After a few short weeks, she loved it there. All the workers were extremely kind to her. We had a few minor hiccups with her medications, but that is to be excepted and they were quick to fix the problems. Eventually my mom was placed in their memory care and I was happy with the care she was given. They helped get my mom on hospice and kept me aware of the hospice staff and how they were doing. The biggest gratefulness I have towards Benton House is when my mom fell and fractured her back. We thought for sure she would have to be placed in a nursing home. They were wonderful to accept her back and told me this was her home. She died a few weeks later, but happy and grateful that she was able to live her final days in a place she eventually fell in love with.

The food is much better now than it was before they failed their health inspection. The new chef…read moreknows how to actually run a kitchen. The place does need some updating. Memory care is an absolute nightmare. The floor is like fly paper, they do the laundry, but never even turned the clothes right side out and just stuff them in the drawers, and they have one supervisor that they rely on for seven days a week 24 hours a day. That is an impossible job for anyone and they're too cheap to find extra help. There is very little mental stimulation for the people in memory care. I think it's all about the money and they hope the memory care people don't remember any details to report to their family. The staff doesn't even notice a guest walking in at times. All of them are over in the corner, looking at their telephones. I had walked in more than once to find my family member lying on a bed directly on the plastic! No sheets, no blankets no nothing. We also had numerous pieces of jewelry come up missing from the memory care unit. Granted, we shouldn't have had anything expensive there, but still you like to trust the staff.. Say no to their memory if you love the person you're looking to place there!

This last year during the COVID virus has been challenging for all senior communities. TCW has met the challenges head on, and has been proactive in all areas where needed to continue to keep the residents safe and healthy. From delivering meals directly to each resident, ensuring to screen residents for infection, monitoring and cleanliness, following state mandated guidelines, coordinating that all residents are vaccinated and working daily to keep each resident engaged in the community during a global pandemic, I applaud the staff. There are so.many outstanding and dedicated staff members that have gone above and beyond to ensure the residents quality of life is the best that it can be. In a pandemic, that is no small feat! TCW is a beautiful facility, filled with caring residents. My mother loves this community, the activities, the staff, her lovely apartment and her friends. Just walking in the door, makes you realize that happy residents live here. Thank you TCW staff for all your commitment. So glad that 2020 is over, and the virus pandemic is resolving. You all deserve a metal of honor!
