I was immediately interested because of the name of the shop and also because I love checking out gift shops and supporting small businesses. It was towards the end of my lunch break so I didn't have the time to check it out, but went on their website and was very impressed by it so I made it a point to stop by today. The store is tucked away in a plaza with other stores so there is plenty of parking. When I entered the store, I was immediately greeted by the owner, Sharon, who was very kind, helpful, inspirational, and super down to earth. She told me the store was just opened last month so she is still in the process of getting merchandise for it. I would not have known if she didn't tell me as there were plenty of cute items available for purchase throughout the store. She gave me a little tour of the store and showed me the various different items that she had for sale without ever being pushy. She explained that she tries to sell things that are locally made which I absolutely love. We talked quite a bit and I found her journey to be very inspiring. Without having any knowledge or experience of owning and running a business, she took the risks that come along with it to follow her passion and do what it is that she loves. The store itself is very cute. The decor is clean and refreshing. She has various different items for sale including home decor, gifts, jewelry, pet items, candles, etc. Being a vegan, I was very pleased to see that she also had some vegan items for sale such as vegan leather handbags and vegan chapsticks/ lip glosses. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to buy a gift for someone or even to treat yourself. I left there with some candles and home decor. She makes her own candles which smell amazing! 5 stars!

Sometimes, they don't have what may seem like common sense things. I just noticed today that this location has cherry wood knitting needles, for $2 a set! Woah! I like coming here during the holidays, to fill gift baskets or get cheap decorations. They have online coupons and offers now, too. This location is the best if you want to try out a gluten-free product or fancy snack without paying a lot of money. Also, the best assortment of Bob's Red Mill products at great prices. Anything you might get at Walmart or Target for winter (shovels, snowmelt, scrapers) or spring (gardening, planters, bird feeders) you can get at Ocean State for much less. I have a beloved olde family heirloom lamp (the kind that your relatives try to weasel out of you…read morebefore you're mature enough to realize how lovely it is). Two weeks ago, to my utter despair, the little bugger shocked me; intervention was required. Enter Appleton Antique Lighting. It's a bit small, and Route 9 is a bit crazy, so keep your eyes peeled. The gent going through bills off to the side was a bit brusque, but the lady at the register was very sweet. They quoted an *extremely* reasonable price for the fix. They said it might take two weeks, but they got it done in one. And my lamp is back to its healthy, non-shocking ways. Go there. And bring your poor, your tired, your huddled lamps, yearning to be fixed.

My bedside lamp had been bugging me for the last…read moreten years or so - I kept having to wiggle the switch to get it to work, and sometimes the light would go out while I was reading, it would go out and I'd have to get up and wiggle the switch again - one of those really annoying little things. Finally it dawned on me that there's people out there who fix these things - I took it to Appleton, and the rest is history. They are incredibly nice there, and while they said it would take a few days to fix, it turned out they were able to sneak it in between larger projects and the lamp got repaired by the next day. Not bad! Basically, I would say that they were very knowledgeable, extremely welcoming and affable people with excellent customer service, and as far as I can tell, they charged a reasonable price. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again as they certainly have earned a repeat customer (just hoping that I won't have any more broken lamps, haha).
