I absolutely love love love Kinetra! I started transitioning (to natural hair) last year. This was a new journey for me. A friend recommended Kinetra. I was nervous (as some of you may know, Austin area stylists are all talk), but not Kinetra. She is actually knowledgeable in this field. She's not only knowledgeable, she's also patient, kind, and very welcoming. She didn't just do my hair and send me home. She knew this was a new journey for me, so she gave me all the advice I needed to carry on. She's passionate about her work. Another plus, if you hate waiting in salon (like I do). Kinetra got you! Your appointment time is actually your appointment time. It's just you and her, no body else, and no waiting. And oh, the shampoo basin setup she has is a spa on its own. When I first came to her salon, The Vintage Hipster my hair was in turmoil (damaged, short and unhealthy) instead of judging me, she jumped into action and gave me practical next steps to achieve healthy hair but it wasn't overkill, it was comfortable and natural. My hair is so long now and growing because of her. Ladies, if you want a stylist who will cares for your hair, who's gentle and real...go here. Kinetra is top notch in everything she does. Her salon is bright and beautiful, clean and I always leave feeling recharged like never before. Kinetra - The Vintage Hipster knows her craft. My new hair cut is fabulous! I was referred by my sorority sister after having unsuccessful experiences with other stylists. Upon my first visit with Kinetra, I made a bold move and had a fun and sassy hair cut. Kinetra did not disappoint and now you can't tell me nothing. Well you couldn't before lol. Kinetra is professional, knowledgeable, reasonably priced, and respectful of your time. She does not overbook so you will not be sitting for hours. Once you schedule your appointment, the alloted time for each part of the process is factored in; so if you cancel, please adhere to the owner/stylist cancellation policy because you will be charged ( I believe 50% of the scheduled service). I believe that this is fair and do not have any issues with her policy. Emergencies do happen and she works with you accordingly. She will not try to upsell you and if you make modifications to the service (like adding an impromptu hair cut), she will state the new charge upfront before you commit. Kinetra is extremely busy and once you connect with her, securing appointments have not been an issue. I recommend texting her over calling. She returns messages within 12-48 hours if not sooner. I can't say enough positive things about this Salon and stylist!!! Upon meeting, we set up a phone consultation in which she heard all of my questions and concerns. She is extremely professional, helpful with tips and ideas. She generated a plan that incorporated all of my needs and concerns. She also assisted me in getting all the supplies that i needed prior to the appointment. On appointment day, she was on time and very professional... Courteous and kind. Gone are the days that you have to sit in the salon for extended wait times if you see Kinetra! In addition to doing an amazing job on my hair (weave with closure), she discusses a range of topics regarding hair care, my wedding plans/hair ideas, as well as other hair care service options. She is a plethora of information! After the appointment, I received nothing but compliments and requests for her information! I just had my 4th or 5th appointment and she continues to display the same qualities. To be honest, this is probably my first Yelp review but I feel this strongly about her skills and professionalism. A friend of mine told me that her daughter received a partial sew-in from Kinetra, it took me a while to contact her...but I am sure glad I did. I am natural and my hair has some serious shrinkage, so the first time I went to her that was my test to see how well she does natural hair. Let's just say WONDERFUL! My next appointment I booked was for a partial sew-in. If you can do natural hair with shrinkage like mine, then you can really so some hair. My sew-in looks really natural, everyone loves it. Trying to find a new stylist can be a project and a risk on it's own, but I'm very happy that I decided to take that risk with Kinetra. I had an install that was put in by another stylist, but was searching for someone else to start a new journey with. I found Kinetra on style seat and after reading reviews and looking at her work I decided to pursue. She responded very quickly to my messages, answered any questions that I had and was very accommodating when booking an appointment. She took my install out, treated my scalp and made my natural hair look beautiful. Her salon was very intimate and she is very personable which made me trust her even more with my hair. She gave me recommendations as far as the treatment of scalp and other hair tips.
