We had our wedding and reception there on 9/26/1998! We were the first couple to be married there. We loved everything about the place. They took care of us like we were their family. The vista is the perfect place for a magical wedding night! We went with a Thursday wedding and it was a very reasonable weekday price. The location is perfect, just off of 360 and Bee Caves. Sidonee and Larry are what really makes this place shine, they truly care about providing excellent customer service and a memorable experience and it shows. This is one of the most beautiful venues which is why we picked it of course. There is as soon as you walk in a lovely little gazebo where you can place your welcome sign. You walk down a beautiful path towards where the ceremony area is, they do have a rain option as well. There is gorgeous landscaping all around you and it feels as if you stepped into another world, they are constantly upgrading and improving here. I love that the flow of the place isn't in one room. You have a separate dining area, and then an outdoor courtyard with fire pit tables and an outdoor bar. Then you have a breezeway with benches and plenty of seating to take you into the dance floor. There is also another great bar here with ample space...the large marble welcome table is where we had our mini dessert bar. There is a small nook where we had our photo booth, it was perfect for that. Best of all, there is a secret garden area! After the ceremony and photos, when everyone is eating, you get spirited away to enjoy some alone time and you get to BREATHE and take a few bites of food and sip on some cocktails and enjoy one another in newly married bliss. All of the lighting was wonderful, they include a color theme and also paper lanterns and if you have a screen of your monogram then they have a spotlight for the dance floor. The entire place is wired for sound and they have a microphone to use during the ceremony. They also have a projector where you can show a picture slideshow. They also include all of the tables and chairs, you must provide the linens. But this is a great package deal, they also throw in the DJ...you just have to be very specific with him what type of music you want to play but there is a website that you can use in order to list out all of your wants and needs. We also opted to get an extra hour because the fun kept going there, literally everyone said we had the most fun wedding in the most gorgeous setting. I have zero regrets on my choice of venue, I am so glad that Sidonee and Larry made our special day truly amazing by having us over in their little slice of heaven (their house is also located on the property but it is tucked away in the back). read more

I like that it's called The Vista because it doesn't have much of a view of anything. The place is surrounded by trees. The parking situation is a major clusterfuck so get to the venue early or if you're a musician make arrangements with the wedding manager. There are a few parking spots on the actual hill and at the bottom of the hill, but you will have to walk down this hill in pitch darkness when the party's all over. I had to use my phone's LED so I could see where the hell I was going. Other than that, the venue is pretty, the MC is a little annoying, but he's nice. Good spot for a small wedding. read more

VOSH was an amazing venue for my wedding on Sep.14.2019 Sidonee & Larry were fantastic, very understanding and helpful when there were questions and doubts. Amazing venue. It was fun exploring this as a guest of a wedding. Parking is in several sections up the hill. The hill up the venue is steep and even though I missed the drive once, I didn't miss it twice due to sign. Up the hill I went... Upon arrival the signage helped me get inside. Love the stone path and gazebo greeting me. I love the dance floors, tables and chairs, dining area, outdoor seating, leather couches indoors, photo booth area, lighting and sound system, bar areas indoor and out (though I just had tea and water), fountain and white stone backdrop for pictures and weddings. The grounds are exceptionally beautiful, the lighting and fire tables add to the ambiance outdoors. The two separate gathering spaces allowed us to have appetizers and drinks before dinner in one space, then walk over to the dining room for dinner...kept things interesting. Anthony, who handles A/V and other details, was super attentive, had the perfect music mix for our event (he has EVERYTHING!) and even took the time to turn our ordinary slide show into a movie before the event began...it was amazing! Attended a wedding there recently. It is a grouping of two converted ranch house style buildings with small rooms connected by patios and courtyards. It is really hard to describe the venue because it has no drive up appeal. Landscaping needs improvement and you see alot of dirt driveways and parking spaces. The connecting patios,courtyards lack decor and flowers. One of the main rooms where the reception was held had rooms within rooms with walls so the bride and groom were not in direct view. I was disappointed in the venue. The food was marginal by one of their referred caters. read more

We went with VOSH because you get a LOT for your money. The venue has a very family-owned feel to it. Larry, Sean, and Sidonee are welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. We got a ton of compliments on how beautiful the venue is, and you have a lot of different areas to utilize for different parts of your event. You literally can have the ceremony, meal, toasts, cocktail hour, and reception in different places and not have to move anyone very far. The whole place is wired for both music and microphones, which are also included. They also include tables and the chiavari chairs (otherwise rented at $10/piece) included in the price. You're also getting Anthony as part of the deal, who acts as your DJ and emcee. He did a really good job. I will say that, as far as decoration, the whole thing is a bit inconsistent. Some rooms are outdated, and some of the decoration borders on tacky. If you're looking for super elegant and posh (i.e. W Hotel or the Renaissance), this is not your venue. But if you want a unique, all-inclusive wedding location with its own personality where you get a lot for the money, look no further. P.S. Although Larry, Sidonee and Sean are VERY nice and easy to work with, they did forget to write down a few of our requests. This place is fantastic! I was a bridesmaid here, and I've never been to a more organized and beautiful venue! I loved the shade trees, ambiance, firepits / torches, gazebos, prep rooms, plenty of parking, margarita machine, and individual rooms for people to explore and hang out. The place seems fairly priced for what you get. They take care of a lot of necessities. The DJ is really good at keeping the pace of the wedding, and very informative for the guests. My husband and I are from Dallas but wanted to be married in the Hill Country. We turned to Yelp to get ideas for venues prior to making the trip to Austin to tour different sites. The Vista on Seward Hill was the first venue that we visited and before we had even seen the entire site, we were both convinced that we had to be married there. It is GORGEOUS! We paid our deposit, set the date and never even visited another venue. The Seward's take great pride in their property and they are continuously updating the site to make it better and better. The natural beauty of the set up provides a great deal of the décor so you can save money on floral arrangements. Another huge benefit of VOSH is that the DJ is already set up in the price of the venue. I was a little nervous about this because we didn't actually meet the DJ until 2 days before the wedding when we returned to Austin but I can tell you that Anthony is INCREDIBLE! He is friendly, outgoing, extremely professional and he took care of EVERYTHING that we asked for without questioning; he even helped me to plan a special Aggie Departure for my A&M alum husband without letting the secret out. The brides room is even decorated beautifully for the getting-ready pictures and the groom and groomsmen were able to use the pool area and the downstairs game-room (pool table, shuffle board, etc) to get ready in and hang out in prior to the ceremony which was really great and kept the guys from seeing the girls prior to the ceremony. From the second we stepped foot onto the grounds until we drove away at the end of our wedding night, I have been nothing but impressed with the Seward's and the Vista on Seward Hill. Sidonee's son, Sean, was great with communication any time I had a question or a concern. (Check out his company, Austin Event Lighting, for up-lighting (which I didn't think was really that important until I actually saw how it transforms the room) and photo booths, etc. He did such a great job and our guests LOVED him, too!). I cannot say enough about the Seward's and this venue. If you are looking to get married in Austin, I would absolutely recommend that you check this venue out. It really is as good as it gets! We chose The Vista on Seward Hill for our wedding day (which was about 6 weeks ago now). My mom attended a wedding here in 2010 and she knew this was the place she wanted me to get married. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't get enough of it. They keep the grounds very clean and it truly is impeccable. We also loved the fact that the DJ, chairs, tables, lanterns, lights, bubble machine, and margarita machine were all included with the price! Sidonee and her son Sean are super nice and are very devoted to each bride and groom. They seemed genuinely happy for us. I really appreciated that. Anthony, the DJ, is awesome and he assured me he would play songs that our guests loved. And they did! We danced the whole entire night away. He was on point and listened to us and did whatever he needed to keep us happy and having fun. He would announce over the mic when it was time for cake cutting, first dance, bouquet toss, etc. He helped in making the night transition smoothly. He was very patient with us as well. He also helped ease our anxiety during the rehearsal. He is awesome! He's a wedding planner, mentor, and a DJ all wrapped in one! Our guests absolutely loved our venue. They were beyond impressed and once they finally got to see the venue, they understood why we didn't allow children at the wedding. The venue is exquisite and timeless. We were married at the Vista on Seward Hill (VOSH) last month. I can not say enough good things about this venue. It is one of the most beautiful settings for a wedding ceremony and reception. We wanted a non-traditional venue (i.e. not a church / not a wedding "hall"), with an Austin feel since we had so many people who were coming in from out of state. We wanted them all to experience something different than the traditional weddings they've been to. VOSH was able to help us create an experience that was truly us, felt very "Central Texas" while also maintaining some tradition. What makes this venue so unique is both it's charm,the way it is divided up into different areas for different parts of your event, convenient location, and the fact that it's usually about 10 degrees cooler up on that shaded hill! There is a lovely outdoor area with stone walls, nice landscaping and huge oaks trees for the ceremony; a covered courtyard for the cocktail hour; a newly re-finished space for dining and a beautiful loungy pavilion for the celebratory part of your reception. VOSH will not be the most cost-effective venue that you come across; however, keep in mind that the venue itself is so beautiful that minimal decoration is required, and they provide their own DJ, Anthony. Their list of approved caterers is relatively short (9 total), and all are typical wedding pricey, but the County Line is on there for a more affordable and casual alternative. We used Sterling Affairs, who cater many events at VOSH and were happy with them. They know they venue well, which helps in the overall coordination of things. If I had to pick my wedding venue all over again, I would pick Vista on Seward Hill without hesitation. Everyone who attended loved it. read more

This one popped up and we chose it from just looking at its website. The minute we stepped onto the grounds, we knew we made the right choice! VoSH has a beautiful outdoor area with water, fire, the greenest grass you have ever seen and amazing trees. They also have 2 perfect indoor areas for dinner, the reception and if any weather emergencies arise, an indoor ceremony. Our DJ and coordinator Anthony was perfect. He was constantly on top of the organization, worked in sync with our coordinator from Sterling Affairs, Shea, and made the day possible. He directed everyone where they needed to go, played every song we wanted to hear, and kept the dance floor moving! He also guided us through the steps for our toasts, cake cutting and first dances. We couldn't have done it without him! Our coordinator from Sterling Affairs, Shea was also amazing. She and Anthony are a fantastic team and our day went perfectly because of them! One added bonus to the beauty of The Vista on Seward Hill is the Sewards themselves. If anyone loves to see people get married, it is these two wonderful people! My friend had her wedding here in November. It is a gorgeous venue and the staff was very accommodating to her guests.

We got married in mid April and had a wonderful experience at VOSH. Larry, Sidonee and Anthony were all sensational to work with, friendly and very accommodating. The venue is gorgeous and does not require much more than some beautiful flowers to enhance the space. Our guests were very impressed with the beauty and ambiance of the Vista, which had just been renovated prior to our event. We loved that the package price includes all the tables, chairs, bars, sound equipment and their fabulous DJ, Anthony Fernandez. This an incredible venue if you desire an outdoor wedding with a definite rain option available. Having a building for the reception/dancing and another for the sit down dinner allows them to quickly shift the ceremony into the reception building if it rains, so, there is no need in having to rent a tent at the last minute. VOSH has so many areas for guests to linger/visit, which is nice, as you are not stuck in the same boring ballroom all night. For the rehearsal, Anthony successfully orchestrated what everyone was supposed to do and kept us on time. He also worked with us on a selection of music for our recessional and on our photo display for the reception. And, prior to the wedding, he sent us a form to complete with all the information on the wedding party and every song to be played during the night. On the day of the wedding, it was threatening rain, but, Anthony and our Caterer worked in tandem to ensure everything was ready on time and discussed a rain option plan with us. They kept us calm and reassured us that everything was under control, no matter what was going on, which was awesome. He moved the musical trio under cover, but, still outside and made sure no one sat on a wet chair. In the end, the rain subsided and the ceremony was beautiful. Anthony was terrific in keeping the wedding moving through all the different stages, but, without making us feel rushed. He did a great job in getting people out on the dance floor and in organizing an Anniversary Dance, which was a lot of fun. He definitely knew how to play the right mix of songs so that our older and younger guests enjoyed the music selections. We chose to have dinner in the secret garden so we could eat uninterrupted and we highly recommend it. it was awesome to be able to enjoy dinner alone as husband and wife before going back in to mingle with our guests. My husband rented the Game Room in Larry and Sidonee's house and it was fantastic. It was almost a necessity to have a separate space for all the guys that was away from the bride's room. The guys had fun playing pool, shuffleboard and watching the game. On the downside and the reason for not giving them 5 stars was due to Austin Event Lighting, which is owned by Larry and Sidonee's son, Sean Krenek. Since VOSH is pretty much a one stop shop location, we used his services for our lighting needs, which is a separate contract/fee. We met with Sean initially at VOSH several months before our wedding. He was late by about 45 minutes and did not call us. We discussed our lighting needs and spent at least an hour walking the entire property to determine the exact lighting we desired for inside the dining area, the reception/cake cutting building and for all the exterior locations. Sean then left the country for about a month, but, promised he would send the contract before he left. He did not. When we finally got him to send the contract, he had the wrong color selections on it and when questioned, admitted he did not write down the correct color selections when we had met. We had to return to VOSH to AGAIN to do all the lighting selections. Sean did offer to give us some upgrades on our lighting due to his error, which was much appreciated. However, on the day of the wedding, I walked into our reception building after the ceremony and found some very garish PINK and BLUE lighting. We specifically told Sean on several occasions we wanted a very pale pink that was only one shade off white and a very pale/dim royal blue. He was insistent about some uplighting on the walls and that they should be a brighter blue. We were not so sure, but, finally agreed. Also, the outside fountains were supposed to have white lights and he used blue on the day of the wedding too. We were very displeased that he was unable to successfully execute our requests for lighting. Further, the end result of this lighting was that so many of our guests have photos of our wedding reception with pink/orange or really blue backgrounds and people. Fortunately, our photographer was able to adjust his equipment so most of his photos were a bit better in that lighting environment. Overall, this is a wonderful venue and we highly recommend it, but, maybe not the lighting company. read more

This was an amazing venue for our wedding!! All of our guests loved the different and unique areas to visit. Anthony made the day go by very smooth - I wasn't stressed at all! There are a lot of add-on's included in the venue cost, such as a DJ, day of coordinator, lighting, margarita machine, bubbles for grand exit, lanterns, and the list goes on. The owners are very welcoming and gracious people. Another bonus is that it isn't far from downtown, so it's not a destination wedding in the middle of nowhere TX with nothing for your guests to do the rest of the weekend. My husband and I had our wedding here on March 12, 2017. I cannot fully explain how beautiful and extraordinary the venue is! It is absolutely the most beautiful wedding venue in Austin. The ambiance is perfect for anyone looking to have an outdoor ceremony. You can also have it indoors! Sidonee is so nice to work with and is so accommodating. She is so sweet and responsive! The only reason I didn't give give them 5 stars is because you are tied to the DJ they provide you in the cost of using the venue. Although there might be a fee if you prefer to bring an outside DJ...I can't remember. It has its pros and cons. The DJ Anthony is nice but in our particular case, our wedding was primarily in Spanish so having a Spanish speaking DJ might have been more ideal for us. This is not whatsoever a deal breaker though because the price is right for everything that you get! Also I kind of wish they gave you more allotted time at the venue without having to pay extra. Again, not a deal breaker. And like I said earlier, Sidonee is so accommodating that you can always reach out to her to see if there's something that doesn't fit your needs. WOW!!!!!! i cant say enough about this venue. The entire process was such a wonderful experience. When you make the decision to book and schedule- you can go to the venue as often as you like for questions/concerns etc. Every Wednesday evening they have their caterers and vendors there to consult w/ anyone. Its great. They have free margaritas for the guests, its always so much fun. The owners are so wonderful.. They are always there to answer questions! Shawn, the guy who does all the lighting is great and has many different lighting options. Anthony, is the cherry on top!!! He is spectacular. He is the DJ/MC for the venue. He goes out of his way to make the night go as smoothly as possible. I cannot say enough good things about him. I could not have asked for a better venue to have my wedding. Besides being breathtakingly beautiful, they genuinely care about you and your special night. I felt so special the entire time. It really was a magical night for both of us.. From the moment we pulled up to The Vista on Seward Hill (VOSH), we knew there was something very magical about this place. The family that owns the property is so loving, caring, and are willing to go above and beyond your needs to make your event a memorable one. Larry and Sidonne Seward were such a joy to work with and we can assure you, they will not disappoint! The property alone sells itself. We were in awe of everything offered after we finished touring the beautiful venue. Anthony, their professional onsite DJ and wedding coordinator included with the venue, was outstanding and made our lives stress free for our special day. Matt Montalvo, who was our photographer recommended by Larry and Sidonne, was very familiar with the venue. He captured the essence of our memorable day in unbelievable pictures! He is truly a professional that understands timing, lighting, and capturing all the moments at the secret garden, the hill country sunset, and our first dance with the alluring chandelier as the background! We searched many venues in Austin and the Vista on Seward Hill was by far the best. The surroundings and venue alone are beautiful even without any decorations. From the choice of indoor or outdoor seating and/or reception, to the timeless water fountains/koi ponds and the lush canopy above, and to the gorgeous chandelier in the dance hall, this property has numerous facets that truly are a niche in the wedding venue world. After tons of research and looking for a wedding reception venue we chose VOSH. It was the best decision and set the tone for our whole wedding. Sidonee was so supportive and helpful. Anthony the DJ was such a pro, and mc'd the reception to perfection. All of our guests raved about the atmosphere and environment at VOSH. I would highly.recommend this venue to anyone!!! My husband and I just had our wedding at Vista on Seward Hill on 04/12/14 and we couldn't be more pleased with everything. This was the first venue we looked at and we fell in love with it almost instantly. This venue is great for smaller weddings as it feels very intimate. Sidonee and Larry (the owners) are so nice and are always available to help with questions. The wedding day went off without a hitch and they made the venue come to life with extra up-lighting and beautiful chandeliers (an extra service provided by Sidonee's son who now has a lighting/photobooth business). We even heard a few of our wedding guests say they would love to have their wedding at the Vista in the future. We absolutely love this venue and would recommend it to any couple looking for a beautiful, romantic, garden-type place to tie the knot! read more

Oh my goodness. I wish that I could have a wedding everyday, but it would have to be at the Vista on Seward Hill. If you are thinking of a destination wedding, home town wedding or any wedding, you have to take a trip to this absolutely beautiful venue. Not only is the venue beautiful, but the owners are the most wonderful people and will make you feel like you are family. If there was a 10 star rating I would definitely give it to them. Their in house wedding coordinator Anthony is just the icing on the cake. He helped to make our daughters wedding the most amazing day. He had everyone dancing on the floor with some great music. People are still talking about it and we will talk about it for many years. The outdoor area is totally beautiful and we had options to hang chandeliers in the trees which we did. There are little outdoor seating areas everywhere with fountains and statues. I can only say that if you visit there once you will definitely go back. read more

Best value in a venue. Period! When my wife and I were looking a venue to get married it was very frustrating. We sifted through many places that were very beautiful but waaaay over priced, as well as places that were a good price, but completely bare bones. The VOSH is the perfect combo. I cannot see how you could get more bang for your buck. Larry and Sidoni are constantly adding new things and improving the place with hideaways, waterfalls, fountains, pristine landscaping, etc... In fact, we saved a huge amount of money on decorations because we had to hardly decorate anything. It already looks fantastic as it is. Moreover, everyone that works here is very personable and professional. Anthony, who runs the show during the celebrations, makes sure that everything goes as smoothly as possible, and does a great job at it. Without him, you would have to pay someone else a huge amount of $ to coordinate everything. All in all, the VOSH is a great value, a gorgeous venue with many of amenities, and has a staff that is second to none. Wes and I were just married at the Beautiful Vista On Seward Hill on November 12, 2011. Words cannot describe how beautiful this venue is. We are still receiving compliments on our wedding and our guests were just wowed the minute they arrived. We chose VOSH because it was so refreshing to have a wedding venue with many rooms to explore, inside and outside. We were never interested in the one room deal where your guests are forced to sit at a table all night. Our family and friends had a ball exploring this place and because of Anthony, the venue coordinator, they never missed anything. Larry and Sidonee were amazing to work with too and they always made us feel like family. If I had to do our wedding all over again and choose anywhere else in the world to get married at, I would choose The Vista On Seward Hill again.We cannot wait to have our anniversary picnic here on their beautiful grounds next year (another perk to getting married here). We are looking forward to cheering with our champagne glasses under one of their many beautiful trees and may be Bentley (their sweet dog) will celebrate with us if we are lucky. Also, on a side note, I had a terrible upset stomach when we were having our romantic secret garden dinner and every bite I took my dress seemed to suffocate me. Larry and Anthony were on the ball and had me taken care of with a healthy dose of Pepto and I was able to enjoy the rest of our evening. They really do take care of you here. I attended a wedding here at the beginning of June and even though I had lived in Austin for years I was not aware of this beautiful tucked away venue. The views around the whole grounds are absolutely stunning. There are trees and flowers and rock formations and fountains everywhere you look. This is indeed a location for a smaller wedding due to the intimate nature of the location but I think that made it much more special. Everything about the wedding was perfect and enjoyable and memorable. I loved that there were multiple areas to sit and relax in and take everything in from different perspectives. Pictures truly do not do this place justice. It is one of the most beautiful relaxing spots I have been to in Austin. I highly recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for a wonderfully unique and pristine location for any special event. read more

I was married in 2012 and I have done reviews on other sites, but I cannot recommend Seward hill enough. Larry and Sidonee go above and beyond to make your special day magical. They are so friendly and gracious -- to say they have excellent customer service doesn't do them justice. They are present throughout the entire process, even on the wedding day, helping with things and making sure everything is running smoothly. I did not have a wedding planner but didn't feel I needed one because they were so helpful, as were my friends and family. I had a pretty bare-bones wedding -- my only flowers were my own and I only had a few little decorative touches that I brought myself, but you would never know it because the grounds are already so beautiful. Anthony did a great job with the music, there were always people on the dance floor. When I think back on my wedding, I do not remember any stress -- it truly was a fun, wonderful experience and I was able to enjoy the day without worry (this coming from a super Type A perfectionist). In fact, I am considering renting the space again in the future for a celebration/reception once I finish my doctorate because I loved the space and staff so much. You're in great hands with Larry and Sidonee. read more

I would not refer any bride to VOSH. I'm quite shocked they have so many good reviews actually. The setup is way too broken up, the parking is terrible, and the staff is difficult to work with. I would not recommend this venue especially if you have more than 75-100 guests. They definitely tell you whatever you want to hear in order to book you and then are hard to get a hold of unless you physically go out there. You can tell that this venue does the same cookie cutter event every weekend and do not want to sway from their typical protocol for anything. Perhaps this is why they are so ridiculous about their time restrictions (2 hours to setup, 4 hour event, 1 hour cleanup). FYI for future brides, a 4 hour wedding is way too short to truly enjoy yourself. If you're paying $5000 for a wedding venue, you should at least get a 5 hour block for your wedding. read more
