The so called manager in this place is a joke. I came into the store with some questions and was met with rude service, he was very unprofessional and had an attitude with me. He met every question I had with rude and sarcastic tones but I guess I'd be upset too if I had to work at a place like that. Hubby and I stopped in for some supplements and the employee that helped us was able to direct us right to the product we wanted. They also had some protein chips that I was interested in, and the guy gave us his personal review of those, of all the different flavors. :) Bright, clean store, well-stocked with what you need. The prices are pretty competitive and they do have a good selection of items. I come here at times if I'm shopping at Barnes and Noble, etc. and need some Quest bars or I'm out of calcium or something. But here is why I don't shop here very often: THE EMPLOYEES YELL at you as soon as you walk in the door. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOEVER. I used to work retail, so I get the "greet every customer" thing. But you DO NOT SCREAM "HI!" when you are at the back of the store and your customer has BARELY SET one foot into your business. It's such a turn off. I'd shop here more over other competitors if I just didn't get yelled at from across the way for just entering their establishment. AND, if I NEED HELP I'll come find you. Trying to order Solaray "Red Yeast Rice" via the Vitamin Shoppe has proven to be more than ridiculous. I ordered this product this past DECEMBER and it still has yet to make it to the Ventura store location. I have periodically checked on the product and have been told that it has been on backorder more times than I can count, until today, I was told Cali laws prohibit the ordering of this particular brand/product or some other BS. So....where they even going to call and let me know? Oh, and the best part is they probably weren't going to call b/c when I asked the guy over the phone about this, all he could do was stutter and play dumb. Thanks but no thanks Vitamin Shoppe. I called in before and the gentleman who answered the phone assured me they had it (: I like that that are open at 9 unlike other health vitamin places that are open at 10. Didn't know this place existed until I did an Internet search. Before, I would visit GNC and Vitamin World and would leave with questions never answered or interact staff that was unknowledgeable, so my info was gathered through the Internet. I first visited Vitamin Shoppe cuz of the great prices I saw on the Internet. Even if the store price doesn't match the Internet price, they match the best price if you ask them to check, which is cool. They also have a free rewards program, so I get a kickback at the end of the year for my purchases. There's more than 1 staff person working every time I've gone, so someone's always interested in helping & answering questions. My particular interest is workout supplements. Mr. Joshua always comes around after a few minutes and can really drop some knowledge. That man KNOWS his SHIZZAY!!! To top that, their selection is huge! Today was the first time I shopped at the Vitamin Shop in Ventura and I was impressed. Brandon, the assistant manager, was very helpful and knowledgeable regarding the various vitamins, supplements and protein shakes. He was patient with my many questions and provided great insight and recommendations. He was well versed on the various product lines and was quickly able to explain the differences between similar items of different brands in a way I was able to easily comprehend. I have never gone back since one of the regular employees basically told me that I was lying when I explained that one of the amino acid powders I purchased had a strong taste that normally it didn't have and I wanted to switch it out for a different one. I had decided to put the powder in one of my big round glass jars at home having never had an issue before and so this is what it was in at the store when I showed him. Unusual, yes but I had my receipt and he and he accused me of substituting something else instead of the product and refused to exchange it. I had been shopping there for years and he knew who I was and had waited on me countless times before. Idk what his problem was that day(too many steroids?) but it was so shocking how he treated me. The other clerks looked shocked as well and could have cared less to lose my business in the future which I told him would happen. I was going to contact the manager but I hate confrontations or the thought of of any payback from him so I didn't pursue it. Hopefully for everyone else that ships there it was a one off with me as unlucky as that made me but I have never returned. is what I say to that treatment. read more

A friend recommended me to this place and I must say I am not disappointed. The main and only reason I went to check it out is because they do price match. So let's say you find a supplement online that is cheaper than the price at the store you can just show them the online price and they will match it! That easy!!!! The vegan supplements I use are more expensive there but they priced match and i saved money plus the shipping cost if I would or ordered online. They have Tons of supplements to choose from! Plenty of vegan options too! I was provided with good customer service, the workers were nice and offered their assistance. Asked me questions about what I was looking for and walked me to the area where the supplements I needed were. I wasn't pushed to buy anything I didn't need and I wasn't followed around the store. Customer service does not exist . Called to see if they had something in stock , informed they had one of the two flavors I requested and possible the other came in during this mornings shipment. Arrived 15 minutes later and did not have the one in stock and refused to check the shipment that arrived. I wasted my time driving there and back. They could have informed they only had one in stock or to offer to hold . They could have offered to check the packing slip for the order that came in. I didn't even get an apology or offer to call another location. I refuse to visit this location again. If you wish for good customer service at a vitamin shoppe the only one I recommend is the northridge location, those people get 5 stars! read more

The vitamin shoppe in ventura has a great selection of products and is set up in categories to make shopping easy. However they have absolutely NO Customer service at all. I was there Tuesday and spent a good 40 minutes looking at protein powders. Not a single employee walked over and said hi or offered to help. Don't go there. I read the reviews and I agree they have a poor customer service. I spent there $250 on vitamins and when i realized that I can buy from Trader Joe's the multivitamin package for $16 instead of $45 I went back there to return the package and they refused to give me my money back even though I showed them I wasn't violating in anyway their return policy. it was only a day after the purchase was made. they claimed that they can not return the money because i am using a different card than the one i made the purchase with. when I asked for cash they refused. After insisting and reading them loudly their own policy of return the manager above called us and we got a higher approval for getting our money back. I will never buy from them again!!! read more

I've read reviews and highly take people's reviews into account. I decide if it's worth my time, gas etc . however, I decided to go in here was pleasantly greeted immediately when I walked in. I really liked that. Then when asked about a product I was immediately assisted by an employee who was knowledgeable and answered all my questions w/no attitude or I dnt no. It felt good. I bought it and thought wow great service but thought maybe it's just that 1 person and I got lucky. Long story short I went back 2 more times and right when I walked in same thing happened but with other people. Each time I was greeted by employees asking me if I needed assistance. Went here on Monday to buy almond butter, when I got home the almond butter was very watery and not right. I stopped by the next day to return it but of course I couldn't find the receipt, the Assistant Manager, Joshua, looked through receipts until he found mine in his computer. This place is good if you want the main stream vitamins and supplements for a good price. They also have some things that trouvé never heard of which is good because it will teach you something new. They have a lot of protein powders and body building supplements. The people who work here are nice and friendly and helpful so that is a plus.
