I was harassed by the bartender Kayla when I exited the bathroom when I visited this bar to meet up with friends. She vehemently asked me if I was speaking about her boyfriend (I definitely was not) and how she can't control what he says online. I asked her "do you think your boyfriend is a racist? Cause I don't know him at all". I guess she overheard my private conversation I was having earlier with my friends where my friend experienced racism online and the girlfriend of the racist was staying with them despite her activism in local social justice movements. I guess she felt triggered because she felt identified in my story? I'm not sure. I will be sharing this information with all local musicians, Huntsville Music Board and a few other organizations I work with regarding local live music in Huntsville. I hope the owners of Voo Doo correct this staffing and customer service issue as I have seen multiple bad reviews about this same waitress. There are other bartenders who have been more than fabulous and I have historically tipped 40-50% since I support my local businesses and advertise for local musicians. Not anymore.

Definitely a bar that will make you feel like a regular on your first time. They can make just about anything. The food here is consistently good. Try the corn nuggets! They have live music if you're into that. They do get insanely busy sometimes but as long as you can squeeze into the bar you'll get exactly what you order.

Wheew! The Voodoo Lounge is a breath of fresh air. Located in downtown Huntsville, this place is worth the trip! The bartenders are super sweet, and very attentive. Their prices are wallet friendly and the Voodoo Lounge has awesome drink specials. The bartender serves up all kinds of delicious shots and mixed drinks- such as the 'Dysfunctionator'...and my personal favorite, 'Grown Up Chocolate Milk'. Tehee. The bartender that served me should get an award for her delicious drinks. Seriously. Voodoo offers LIVE music almost every night. The schedule rotates but they have a few weekly regulars...Wednesdays are fun. I saw James Irvin last week and he was great. Check him out! www.myspace.com/jamesirvin The place is small...but that's what appeals to me. If the place was packed, I'd say it could fit about 60 people (probably not comfortably). The Voodoo Lounge seems to attract some of the nicest, most genuine folk in Northern Alabama...so don't be afraid to grab a stool next to a stranger and strike up a conversation. Making new friends = Yay! Also- if you enjoy throwing sharp objects at walls, Voodoo Lounge has a couple dart boards for your enjoyment. They've also got a chess board for all the dorks. Imagine your high school cool friend's basement complete with a bar and limited seating. This describes Voodoo in one sentence. Unless you score one of the few tables toward the entrance or at the bar you're out of luck and will have to find a place to stand, while dodging other patrons squeezing by you to get either to the bar or the restroom at the rear of the lounge. This place encompasses the true essence of a basement lounge. The DJ/ Emcee that managed the karaoke songs will make your visit so much more enjoyable. I'm not sure about the food and drinks, but the atmosphere is worth checking out on a Sunday night if you're not willing to let your weekend go without a fight.

Very underground Dive bar. But the service is bad, drunk? Hard to tell, once the live music stops, it's a free for all at the bar.

Great feel to the bar, except the smoke is overwhelming most of the time. Love to be there on Tuesdays for Dave Anderson.

Some college age patrons began a political discussion with me, in good faith, I believed. They did…read morenot like the answers they recieved from me and then took it upon themselves to go to a manager, I think, and claim that I had used racial epiphets aimed at one of the group who started the discussion. This never happened, and I have never used, to the best of my memory, any name calling in discussions since I was a young idiot of 15 years. Nevertheless, the manager, instead of finding out what really happened, took the dissatified student at her word and began yelling agressively towatds me. I was gobsmacked as I had no idea what I had done. I, in my confusion, was explaining my innocence and pointed out that I thought we were having a good faith discussion. The entire time acting calm and confused as to what I had done, and repeating my innocence, as I do NOT use racist names and thought we were just discussing a situation that had little effect on our lives. This fell on deaf ears for the manager(?), as he continued to yell at me (totally uninterested in hearing what I had to say) and demand I leave. He brought with him two bouncers despite him being the only one speaking with a raised voice. I was not acting violent or agitated. In the meantime the college student who I thought wanted to have a good faith discussion up until 5 minutes previous was claming, behind his back, that I had used a racist name that I have nevet heard in my life before it was on Breaking Bad, the series. This was a very uncomfortable and frightening situation for a man suffering from PTSD. It was all I could do to keep control and talk in a measured tone to the agressive manner showed me. I was thankful that the entire group was thrown out by the owner, I think, as I had been cordial and jocular and did not actually want to discuss politics or the middle east when out on the town and enjoying myself. However the agressive manner showed me as a guest from another country convinced me that anyone I know should stay away from the Lone Goose Saloon because college students will lie in order to get anothet patron kicked out with whom they don't agree. And that the manager should immediately side with the lying student and act agressively to a patron who was acting perfectly normal, even after he was yelling and agressive, tells me he is either naive or stupid or both. Or does he think all young women tell the truth? Perhaps he should look into the matter and both sides before he stars yelling at a person who has seen death and destruction as well as behaving himself amicably. I will not be recommending this bar to anyone.

I think it was salsa dancing, but it may have been west coast swing at the EB. Her daughter had the time or day wrong and there was no class, but we all enjoyed a nice visit there. Because it was Wednesday, the bar at EB featured the "Drink Exchange at The Electric Belle, " which according to their website is, "the most ELECTRIFIED take on the bar menu yet, The Drink Exchange at The Electric Belle is your opportunity to influence the market with your tab, buy your favorite drinks low, and when the market crashes EVERYONE WINS! Wednesday nights inside The Electric Belle. OPEN 5PM-10PM - MARKET BELL RINGS AT 6PM!" Well, alrighty then, what this meant for me as I ordered a pinot grigio at the bar is, a TV to the far right of the bar displayed some stock market graphics affiliated with drinks maybe??? My SS found it interesting and was explaining it to me, anyway, I zoned out regarding the explanation because it was too cerebral for me at the moment. We missed the market bell ring because we got there around 7:30. Back to the Belle. It's a nice event space! Nice shiny concrete floors, I think it had a stage and a large projection screen was set up in a corner. There is outdoor seating which was nice on this lovely evening and the landscaping is nice, too. It's on the western most side of Stovehouse which I had never explored before, and I didn't see any nearby parking. The bartender was nice, the wine was good and at a good price point, and the space itself was fresh, clean, and modern. Outside the immediate area of EB is not well lighted, and for some reason, the restrooms in the area [not in EB proper - still in Stovehouse] were locked {??}, so there's that. I should have asked the bartender if they had restrooms inside EB. Do try EB, they have some interesting events on their calendar, west coast swing, disco night, zombie prom, and age 21 and over entertainment such as Dave Anderson and Ben Luthy, both of which are free shows which is super nice!
