The W - an absolute gem hiding in plain sight. Great food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices. With one of the better French onion soups around, incredible burgers, an amazing crab cake sandwich and to top it off all of our servers (most recently Marina) have been incredibly attentive. This place has batted 1000 as far as my experience has been. I can't believe I've lived in this area for decades and have never been inside. Very disappointed. Went there first when it was The Willow Inn. Much better atmosphere-food-cocktails. Has gone downhill dramatically since it became the W tavern. Place was falling apart-limited menu with no taste. Drinks were horrible. What a shame-used to b a nice spot to go to. read more

This place is pretty run down and the food is abysmal, especially for the prices charged. The real kicker is that this establishment charges a 3% fee on all bills to cover the cost of "inflation." I did not see this charge advertised on the menu before ordering, you're just left with it once you get the bill. This is an incredibly shady practice to extract more money from customers while appearing to keep costs "low." I refuse to believe this fee goes back to the employees, this is just another example of corporate greed, why not just change the menu prices if you need more money to make a profit? Regarding the food, I ordered the crispy brussels sprouts and they came out without the bacon, but even when I notified the waitress and she brought me a cup of bacon, it didn't improve the taste. I also ordered the honey chipotle salmon that was on special and it was SWIMMING in the sauce. I couldn't even attempt to eat any of the rice pilaf that came with it because it was practically just soup due to the amount of sauce. Not to mention the sauce was very strange and congealed, it kept getting stuck to my teeth like caramel. On top of this, the place is falling apart, the ceiling tiles are falling down, the chairs are on wheels(?) and don't fit at the tables, the waiting area seating booth is ripped so bad it's practically split in two. I would never go back and I actually would encourage others to avoid it here, I'm surprised by all the good reviews. read more

Stopped by for a drink and dinner. Seated right away outside. Outside bar & picnic tables with umbrellas to block the sun. Waitress was really nice. All the waitresses help each other. Started with the fried calamari. You can tell it is frozen. The calamari was fried harder than I prefer. The food portions are big and can be shared. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming to families or date night. I would return when in the area. read more

So I was in Pennsylvania for a New Year's party and the Giants played. So I asked my friend where to watch the game. She recommended her favorite spot "The W Tavern" and said the wings are excellent. I mean football and wings, what could be better? We goto to the bar around twelve thirty and asked the bar tender, named Michelle, if they could put one tv on for the Giants game? Now, remember, this is a Pennsylvania restaurant so it's a curtesy for them to put the game on. However, they didn't have Sunday Ticket, so we couldn't watch the game. What a sad state of events; the wings or the game. My hungry for the better of me so the seven people and I stayed. I have to say, I'm glad we did. The three flavors, mango habanero, garlic parmesan, and the bbq sauce, were incredible! They were a good size and they offered tons of delicious blue cheese. They offered a special so we got a great deal on the wings, also the beer, if that's your thing (I mean, it is a bar). But next event at her house, I would go back. I just hope it's not during the football season, or they get Sunday Ticket. read more

Came here this evening. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger with mushrooms and French fries. Waitress forgot my French fries and gave me chips instead. The burger was flavorless and overcooked. The French fries were not fresh. They were probably sitting under a heating lamp for a few minutes before they got to our table. The boss hog nachos were good. I would maybe come back here for drinks outside at the bar only. I would not come back here for food again. Very disappointed in the quality. read more

We went on a Friday night, were seated right away (party of 2). Service was friendly, quick and checked in often. Got the calamari for appetizer, the pieces were tasty and crispy but bites were portioned large (needed to be cut per bite), marinara sauce was delicious and clearly homemade. I got a side salad and dry rub wings. Wings were crispy and reheated well the next day as left overs. Husband got French dip and Caesar side salad. The French dip was good but the menu said "caramelized onions" and the onions were merely lightly cooked (completely white, no golden brown color). He likes onions in any form, so the sandwich was still tasty, but they were definitely not caramelized (hence the four out of five rating). The highlight of the meal was the calamari. read more

There was a party going on in the area off the bar area, maybe it would be quieter in there. Would consider going back for the food and try again. Our town needed a local hangout spot! They've done a great job modernizing and renovating the former Willow Inn in the heart of Willow Grove. It has cool exposed stone walls, tons of TV's around a big bar area, and lots of tables for dining in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. They also just finished a back room that is perfect for parties, filled with natural light from its many windows. The food is typical American bar food. Nothing fancy. The cocktails looked fun. My suggestion for the W: get a real wine list. I don't drink beer. I'm not a big cocktail person- when I go out I expect to have a decent glass wine. W- hook up the wine drinkers!! Food was delicious! Got there at noon on a Sunday so, no trouble getting a seat. There is outdoor seating and an outdoor bar (as well as a planter full of garden herbs for cooking with?). Waitstaff was friendly. Prices are comparable to other places but I think the food was a step above other places. I got a special: blackened salmon on salad (buttercrunch lettuce, fresh strawberries, mandarin oranges, walnuts, onions, carrots, dried cranberries and raisins, with a sesame dressing (on the side)). The salmon was excellent: moist, flaky, with the perfect amount of spice. The unsweetened ice tea was refreshing and without that extra tannin that grates one's teeth. My companion ordered chicken Santorini and garlic bread and was quite pleased with her choice. I'll definitely go again when I can. read more

So let me just say, this would have been 5 stars if not for one little problem. There were mice running around the restaurant. When I told the bar tender about it, she said it's been a problem and they had exterminators there that day so they were active. Our waitress just laughed it off and said, "oh, did you see our little friends?" and we still had to pay for our meal because it's a normal occurrence there. Way too noisy and the owner does not care about how the noise affects the area tenants. He and some of the staff are very well aware of a serious illness one of the tenant's is experiencing. They were politely asked numerous times to try to keep the music at a decent level but instead they turn it up louder.
