I've been here twice this. The past five weeks and honestly, I feel like I'm going to make this a frequent place on my list of favorites. That's a pretty difficult list as I hold high expectations to put five stars down on a review like this. So let's start with the why. It's simple, this place cares. It begins with the greatest to the servers and the cooks/head chef. They are so friendly and pleasant. You cannot walk in or out without receiving a gracious welcome or thank you for joining us. Smiles are abundant and just people that love what they are doing. The attention to detail on plating outshines many restaurants with much higher price points and it is at all levels of the food menu. Wings are stacked elegantly, not piled on a plate. The side salad was beautiful. Yes, a side salad. The bun of the burger was toasted wait cross hatch grill mark. Not everyone pays attention or cares about this stuff. But whoever the chef here is cares a lot. Back when this place opened years ago its menu was very limited and lacked inspiration. Boy have things changed. And yes, the food tastes as good as it looks. Honestly some of the best wings around. If you like crispy, look no further. Looks great, tastes great, and priced reasonably. And the beer on draft is amazing. Draft beer is special. Less carbonation and more flavor. So many great beers here. And then the bourbon and whiskey . Wife ordered a steak medium rare but it came out almost completely brown. She said something to our server (Kevin?) who agreed it was definitely overcooked and sent it back. The manager came over shortly after and also agreed they messed up. They handled the situation perfectly and made things right. I also really like their cheesesteaks. (We rarely splurge on all this fried stuff!) The greens had more ingredients than typical. If the croutons were homemade and the ranch dressing more descript, I would've loooooved the salad. There was a lot of calamari on my plate. Even with T helping out, I brought a fair amount home. The calamari needed a little something extra, but the rings and tentacles brought my rating up .54 points. (I'm nothing if not precise!) T's fish was fried with a thick coating. The cod was flakey, but like the squid, needed zing. Even though tables overlook the parking lot, it was pleasant to sit outside. The staff is very nice. I LOVE going to the Iron Abbey when in the area. I was there on a Wednesday and it was burger night. I like to go here bc they have a large (30) tap menu of great beers, including one of the only places that has Russian River on tap. Tonight I started with the happy hour chicken croquettes and had the absolutely amazing juicy thick pork chop with potatoes and asparagus as my entree. I like to get one of their cask old fashioned during happy hour. Tonight I had 2 great tap beers and headed up stairs to grab a beer to go. Service is always very attentive at the. Again it's a bar. It's got more of a European feel and ambiance is basement cellar which caters to European soccer fans with the televised games. My only complaint is parking, it's behind the restaurant. I have NEVER had a bad meal. I travel alone for work and usually there are friendly people around the bar to talk to. Love coming here. read more

There could have been a little more flavor in the chicken sliders, but the ribs and salmon were really yummy from what my family said. I've been to the Iron Abbey several times and each time the food has been very good and both my wife and I enjoy the experience. This last time I ordered a brisket sandwich which was so big that I took half home with us to enjoy the next day. Every time our wait staff is informative and pleasant, giving us insightful answers to our questions about the food or the beer. Stopped in last night to try out the happy hour menu. We got two mixed drinks which were deliciousThursday's BBQ special and two orders of their chicken wings. The Bbq plate was tasty and included three dozen smoked meats as well as coleslaw and mashed potato. The wings were the best I've had in a while, very crispy but tender and juicy. My friends and I had visited for the 4th of July-- We originally were going to get the AYCE BBQ special, but we decided to eat a la carte. I ordered: Brisket Poutine -- (8/10) These were delicious! I loved the cheese sauce mixed with the gravy. I wished there were a bit more cheese curds, but either way, we demolished it! Black n Bleu Burger -- (7/10) It was your standard burger. I found the patty to be a bit dry, and I felt that there could've been more of the toppings! Especially the blue cheese. Apple Blossom -- (8/10) Super yummy! I love apple pie so I might be biased. I thought the crust was a bit thick on the bottom, but I didn't mind it. Creme Brulee -- (8/10) Nice, crackly sugar top and honestly, a solid creme brulee. I was quite surprised at how much I liked it because I don't normally go for these type of desserts! My final thoughts Overall, the food was solid. A good gastropub with a Brazilian accent since it shares a kitchen and owners with Na Brasa, a Brazilian steakhouse. We have enjoyed their Portuguese Burger in the past, and they had caipirinhas on the menu today, for instance. We both had burgers that were tasty but cooked well done, instead of the medium we requested. I mention this because it's a pet peeve. The IPAs we were served were good and from regional breweries. If you are looking for a local spot to grab a brewski and some bar food Iron Abbey could be what you are looking for. I have been here a handful of times and it looks like they have really amped up their menu options. Last time I came here I went with the Happy Hour option of five wings for $7.00. If you want to dine inexpensively HH is the time to come, they have many good options along with a $6.00 burger Wednesday after 5pm at the moment. It is nice that you can sample any beer on tap as well, currently they have twenty-three or so on tap and you can even get a 32oz Crowler of most beers on tap for a very affordable price. They do not charge for the Crowler aluminum can they bottle it up in for you either. I would recommend if you are getting together with a large party to watch a sports game or just want to kick back and relax at this local pub. As always people SYOY!!! read more

Me and my friends came for the Oktoberfest celebration that they had, everything was so much fun! The food was great and so was the service. However my main issue was with this really belligerent lady. She literally walked up to me and started talking about how arrogant we Americans must be for acting like this. She said she came there for her German heritage. Like I was taken aback by her just walking up to me and frankly harassing me. I went up to the hosts to ask for a manager to do something, and nothing happened. Another lady I spoke said she also went to the bartender and ask for her to be removed. I don't understand why management wouldn't remove a customer who was blatantly rude to other customers and staff. And I wasn't spoken to about it either. Met up with friends last night, upstairs in the loft at Iron Abbey. It was my second time here and this place is a hidden gem for sure!! To start, the staff is all amazing. From the hostesses downstairs, to the wait-staff upstairs, to the bar tenders... everyone is knowledgeable of the menu items, kind, attentive and all-around awesome. It was a promotional "whisky tasting" last night, so we had a few whisky drinks (neat and old fashions) and the cost of the cocktails was covered by the promoter... which was pretty epic!! I ordered the bacon and chicken sandwich (got is fried not grilled on a tip from the waiter) and it was delicious!! The vibe here is perfect. This is a breakfast review! Iron Abbey has breakfast on the weekends from 9-12. First of all, if you want a place with no wait, this is the place you want to go! There weren't many people there at all. The coffee was great and so was our food! I got the breakfast burrito and it comes with breakfast potatoes. I really liked everything! The burrito held together so well and wasn't messy at all. The potatoes were little fried cubes and they were great! Could have used a little salt though. My husband got the chicken and waffles. He was very pleased! The chicken was a bone-in chicken breast which he said was the real deal. It came with a light and fluffy waffle and the chicken was coated in a bourbon cream sauce (maple syrup on the side). Overall, I would definitely recommend Iron Abbey for breakfast! read more

Place is beautiful. Next time I want to try the steakhouse side. They get a 1 for service. I knew we were in trouble when they wouldn't sit us in the main restaurant. Even though it looked half empty. They stuck us upstairs in the whiskey bar. The bartender upstairs ended up being our hostess/waitress/food runner. She did have some help when a second bartender showed up, but by then it was too late. no silverware till I was almost finished with my appetizer. In fact, she only came over three times during the meal to ask us if we needed anything or refill drinks. Add one other time when they brought the food. After the meal when she asked if we'd like any dessert, we said no we're finished. That's fine no boxes. And then waited 20 minutes for her to bring us the check. But she didn't even bring us the check. It was the other bartender who had come over to ask if we were finished and wanted more boxes and I said nope just still waiting for the check. They get a five star for the food. My wash pork chop was delicious and the kids portion of chicken tenders and fries was huge. I got the fillet and it was properly cooked. I felt mine was a little flavor glaze to liven up my dish. Probably needed some salt and pepper but again we didn't have silverware and there wasn't even any type of table condiments. Couldn't even ask for salt and pepper because they never came over to check on us. I recommend the brussels sprout appetizer and the fillet or pork chop. Make sure you ask for silverware and table condiments ahead of time and take advantage of every opportunity when they come over to check on it. They get a 4.5 for cleanliness. My daughter said the bathroom was clean, but I did not have a chance to check the mains. Overall, I would go back but just lower my expectations. read more

The first time to the Iron Abbey Gastro Pub, it was the beers, gastro pub food and the bottle shop that caught our attention. I start this review by saying, get friendly with your server and ensure that you discuss your questions, inquire about preparation and platting if that is important to you to ensure you get from the kitchen the way you'd expect. If you like something more crispy then ask, if you like something less crispy then ask. If not 100% please talk to your server or ask for Mark the manager who is the Chief of First Impressions (CFI). Our server George was spot one, was friendly, was engaging and willing to address our questions. We started off with the Chorizo Egg Rolls - Spanish chorizo and cheddar cheese served with Thai chili sauce. Sounded great. Came out with burnt edges both top and bottom rendering 1/2 of each piece uneatable. Luckily Mark the CFI was going table to table checking on patrons. We presented the dish and he too was shocked, "not how it is supposed to leave the kitchen" he said. "Let me replace that for you", he offered and did. Much better the second time around. Since Mark had taken an interest in speaking with us, we ran through the menu with him for his input based on my line, "ensure we come back for second visit." That is how we learned about the extensive beer menu and bottle shop which he escorted us through after our meal. My wife had and loved the Filet Cheese Steak - Shaved Filet Mignon with sauteed onions, mushrooms, melted gastro pub cheese sauce, and swapped in mashed potatoes in place of the hand-cut fries. [We shared half a day later as leftovers and the meat was still tender.] Based on Mark's input, I had the Blackened Scallops- (4) Lightly seasoned dayboat scallops with whipped sweet potatoes, grilled asparagus, and lobster cream sauce. Platted very nicely, very tasty. Nice grilled taste to the thin asparagus stacks, the scallops were firm and the sweet potatoes completed the meal for me. My only criticism and I told Mark post-meal, was that the sides were plated first waiting for the scallops which meant the sides were not hot, just below room temp, and that I didn't want to ruin the scallops by sending it back. So food-wise, again, be engaged, ask questions, don't be embarrassed to send something back if not to your liking. We will come back and give it a second try, I will, however, call to see if Mark and or George are on the floor that night. As for the upstairs bottle shop-- blown away with the craft beer selection and varieties. This is a must stop, must check out components following your meal. We went home with some new beers to try out. read more
