I was in a jam as I had ordered wallpaper online that ended up getting damaged during shipping. It could not be replaced because it was on back order. My wallpaper was scheduled to be installed the next day, so I had my fingers crossed the Wallpaper Store might have something available in stock that I liked. Amazingly, they had the exact wallpaper in stock, at virtually same price. I had wrongly assumed I would save money by ordering online. The Wallpaper Store was given dimensions of the area I wanted papered. Unfortunately they miscalculated and the installer needed another roll. The additional roll does not match. It is grass cloth paper. When I called to complain about the mismatch Kevin tried to convince me that they checked the dye lot and this type of wallpaper has different color variations. My theory is when the installer needed another roll they just took it off the shelf without checking if it matched. It is obvious looking at the wall there are two different colors. I would never do business with that business again. He refused to make it right. He is not a pleasant business owner. I wish I had seen previous reviews. I wouldn't even give them one star. When I saw their Trump Won sign and politely said I couldn't stay, I was chased out by the owner who hurled insults at me. Poor delusional man. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! This is a horrible place of business. I ordered wallpaper and was told it would arrive by Friday of last week (it did not). I received a call that it would be there on Mon or Tues. Today (Weds) I called to inquire about the shipment and was hung up on (after a rude exchange) when I asked about receiving a discount due to the delays (I had rearranged my schedule to work from home in order to accommodate the install) and was told it's Christmas time and every industry experiences delays during this time. BS, shipping companies are actually faster during the holidays due to increased staff, but nice excuse there. I really installed prior to Christmas. I waited an hour and called back to cancel my order as I choose not to do business with organizations that have such horrendous service. I spoke to the owner, well tried to but he was extremely aggressive and yelled over me and would not let me speak. I asked him to stop yelling and let me speak and his professional reply was 'I'm not yelling, you'll know when I'm yelling'. It's 2018, threats and bullying are not acceptable. He also said this was a custom order, it wasn't, just a stock purchase. I asked why he didn't call when manufacturer when the shipment was delayed as to inquire of the status and he said he doesn't have time to follow up on customer orders. I am going to contest the charge with my credit card company and he said he'd fight and I'll have to pay and he'll win. Oh, and the best line 'In our store, the Customer is not always right'. I used this store for my wall coverings at my home here and in Atlanta. I had never had better service than I received here. They made it painless to do business with and offered great assistance in picking out the right wall coverings, (and how much I would need) for the specific areas I wanted. The owner or staff hung up on me and called me rude!!!....for wanting to look at a sample. I am working with both a contractor and their subs so I called looking for a discontinued sample in a particular book that was very very hard to find. The manufacturer would not send out a sample either unless I ordered a whole roll. I checked with 2 other sources and they had no problem helping me out, but their pages were already removed from the book. He had the sample and because I would not order from him, he called me rude and hung up. You had a chance to earn potential future business, but not now or ever! BUYER BEWARE! $40 SPENT FOR NOTHING! We like to shop at local businesses, even if we pay a bit more. With this in mind, plus a recommendation from a friend, we decided to look at wallpaper at The Wallpaper Store on Tamiami Trail (west side of the Trail, south of Stickney in a strip mall) for a small project. The woman waiting on us knew her inventory and was very pleasant. We brought home some samples that she cut from paper they had in stock, but none worked. Back we went to look at books of wallpaper (we also returned all the samples, which was not necessary). We decided to bring home two books: one had several choices and the other had one long shot possibility. The sales woman mentioned that she would take a $20 deposit for each book, $40, which would go toward a purchase. We signed out the books, but alas what looked great in daylight, looked miserable in the evening. Upon arriving home, my husband asked if I thought the sales person meant they would keep our deposit to which I foolishly answered, "... of course not". Having borrowed so many books over 48 years of decorating five houses, we had never paid a penny to take any home sample books. I WAS WRONG! My husband returned the books and was told we now had a $40 credit to be used in 6 months. I went back to the store to express my concern and was told that is how they do business to counteract customers using the Internet to purchase what they see in the store. I explained that I had asked a local well-known decorator and others about whether this practice was the way business is done in Sarasota; they had never heard of such a practice. The owner basically challenged me to write my experience and post it on the Internet and kept repeating that I should put "both sides". Had he cared about me as a customer, he might have offered to "split my deposit" and return $20, rather than worrying about my integrity. BTW, they also carry other merchandise, but why would I want to keep adding to my "deposit" not knowing if I would find what I wanted. BOTTOM LINE: If you know what you want, by all means shop at The Wallpaper Store. If you're not sure what will work, it's your money to lose. read more

Grumpy and not very helpful. They assume that everyone is out to use their wallpaper books and then order online. They charge $20 per book to take home and then don't refund upon return. Walk away from your deposit and go where people treat their customers with kindness. read more

If you are looking for a professional experience this is not the place to spend your money. The owner clearly wants to be the primary beneficiary of any business not the customer getting one what they paid for or two what they need. We were sold items that we did not need for the installation and then owner refused to take them back when they had never been used. He was rude and unprofessional too. I am in the process of updating my home. I was referred to the Wallpaper Store, by a neighbor. The selection and prices are really awesome. I was looking at having to go to several different places at first; my visit changed all that! I am now working with a helpful and most importantly a KNOWLEDGEABLE staff and could not be happier. I had a great experience at this store. The owner was helpful and patient, explaining the advantages and shortfalls of the paper I was considering and also the approach for determining the best placement on the wall. He helped me pick the perfect paper. I purchased grass-cloth. They make sure they sell you multiples all from the same dye lot and the project turned out great (very consistent). My paper-hanger even commented how good the quality of the paper was. I'm glad I didn't try to save a few $'s and purchase on line. Not sure what I would have gotten! I also discussed with him another room for which I was thinking of papering an accent wall. He spent time pulling sample options from several books for me to see. I noticed a couple of other low ratings and I'm sorry you didn't have as good of an experience as I did. I would not describe the owner as grumpy, but soft-spoken.
