My usual brow lady at another place was not able to get me in, so I tried the The Wax Bar. I would have never guessed by the outside how cute it was on the inside. It was very light and bright and they offer beer! I love that! They had a lot of cute items to purchase, and my eyebrows came out great! I saw Sarah and she was super easy to talk to, and even though I was only booked for a wax she also did a tint that I wasn't sure I wanted when I booked. Highly recommend Deb for brow wax. I have never received so many compliments on how "great" my eye brows look. I love this place! Every employee that I have encountered has been friendly and helpful. The front desk gals are always very warm, never over the top. I get Brazilians and my under arms done and have been seeing Linea for a few months now. Not only is she great at what she does, she is easy and fun to talk with. I have also seen Marielle a couple times. They are both awesome, personable and professional. Spreading your legs can feel a bit vulnerable, but it's a nice distraction when you can chat it up and laugh with the person taking care of business for you. I'd also like to add that the interior is beautiful, classy, clean and simple. I'm so glad I found this place. You will be too if you decide to go. I called around 2 pm on a Wednesday to inquire about their Happy Hour Specials I saw on their website. They were able to get me in at 2:50 pm, and the Brazilian Happy Hour price was only $45! Kalyn was my esthetician and she was awesome! She was very sweet and made me feel very comfortable. The room was relaxing, clean, and had nice lighting. I have had a couple bad experiences with deals from Groupon for this type of service at various salons. This place is no where near me (I'm in NE Seattle) but they had a smokin' happy hour special on brazilians I got from twitter so I went. That said, I would go back in a heartbeat! The place has an awesome vibe. Clean, serene spa with Tiffany blue-like accent color, 9-10 ft. sliding etched glass doors on the treatment rooms and lots of fun handmade jewelry, perfumes and even some clothes to browse while you're waiting. It was easy to find. Parking was a bit rough (no off street parking that I could see, street parking was on the very busy main drag into W. Seattle). My guess is the specials they are running are to drum up business for this relatively new location and I'm totally ok with that. I will say the wax wasn't the most pain free I've ever experienced (I've been to a lot of places) but it was fast, efficient and the staff were professional. read more

I chose the Wax Bar based on its reputation, but chose this new W. Seattle spot based on a Living Social coupon. I had a wonderful experience. Arriving at the Wax Bar, I was startled to find that the little boutique was right in the middle of a bunch of auto mechanics. At first I thought, "What an odd location for this business." Later I learned that the area is slowly changing to a more retail focused section of W. Seattle, and it made me realize they picked a fantastic spot, one that will be even more fantastic in a few years. For now, the parking is a little tight (street parking), so allow time to circle around the block and maybe even walk a block or two. I had my service with Lynaia. This place is OK, over rated if you ask me. Last week I got a Brazilian, eyebrow and chin waxing from Georgina. The customer service was amazing, the front desk & Georgina were very nice and sweet but I came here for a good wax first and fore most. Brazilian: She missed a few spots and it was not the baby soft feel I was expecting. Little hairs were left everywhere. This waxing was for a special occasion and I honestly felt like I could have shaved better, what a waste of money. Eyebrows: They were OK. One major plus is she did listen to me when I said not too thin, just clean them up! ... But she also burned me a little. I didn't notice it until I got home but soon after wards, there was a red line underneath my eye. Even my husband pointed it out. Chin: Ehh... again like the Brazilian, she missed some hairs. My bill was $132 after tip and the 3 services. Honestly, was not worth it and won't be back. read more

I had the Lash Lift and tint done a couple of days ago. I was disappointed with both the Lash Lift and tint. The Lash Lift is like a perm for your eye lashes. It didn't work on my lashes. I see ZERO change. My lashes did not curl from the lash perm and the tint isn't noticeable. I will say that I am half Asian and have somewhat short, straight lashes. I am NOT giving Wax Bar itself a 1 star. I am giving the product, Lash Lift, a 1 star. I do understand that it will works differently for each person. But, the fact that there was zero affect I am giving it a 1 star and especially for the price. For me it was a total waste of money. The Wax Bar and employees are great. The employees were very polite and professional. 5 STARS for the employees. 5 STARS for the place itself. Very cute with nice knick knacks, candles, and jewelry to buy. read more

Recently saw McKenzi for a Brazilian during happy hour ($45). It was my first time at Wax Bar and I have absolutely no complaints! This place is upscale and trendy. They are a bit pricey at $65 for a Brazilian, which if you factor in a tip it's about $75/month for waxing a rather small area of your body! They do run a special during the week 1-3pm, $45 Brazilians, which I hope I'll have time to try at my next appointment. They have drinks for purchase, which I assume is why they are called Wax BAR. They have a friendly staff. Georgina, my esthetician, was super cool and did her job quickly and efficiently. I wouldn't say it was painless, but she moved quick enough to where it was over in about 10 minutes. I was pleased with the result and there were no ingrown hairs or any issues. I would definitely recommend her to any one who needs waxing services. *Side note* for those who have never had "between the cheeks", which I had not before, you will be lifting your legs to your chest like "you're going to do a cannonball". Love the happy hour waxing specials. Sometimes those appointments can get booked fast. Love that they offer different types of wax materials (ie sugaring, hard wax). I see Marielle and she's awesome. I had never gotten a bikini wax, or any wax, and I was nervous. I went a little early to have a drink first which helped! No bar per se, but a cooler with some adult beverage selections you can enjoy in the large waiting area. That helped! Georgina was such an expert--really fast--and I was able to forget what I had previously felt was a weird and perhaps even gross thing to be doing! Dignity intact. Not only was the pain minimal, but by the time I got home, my skin felt like nothing had happened. I wish it was cheaper so I could go more often, but I still advise--leave it to the pros and save yourself the hassle and pain! read more

The wax bar is great i've been to see Lynaia 3 times and will continue going. I've been getting my legs sugar waxed and it's amazing, my legs feel and look great. My hair is actually growing back much lighter and in some spots not at all. I heard sugaring could do that, and now I'm seeing it happen. I'm going to be honest,I did some research to find a great place to do my first brazilian.I've never even had a bikini wax and I am the biggest baby when it comes to pain.The thing that drew me in was that they served alcohol,so I thought,"why not?"I signed up for their e-mail alerts and they were having a special on brazilians at their West Seattle location.$35!My friend and I drove from Olympia to meet our fate.The shop is adorable and you can browse around and shop.They got us in 5 minutes early and it only took about 18 minutes to complete.I had Lynaia and she was fantastic.She was quick and she did not make me feel uncomfortable at all.It was painful but not as painful as I was expecting.After we left,we realized that we didn't even drink!!My only complaint is the parking,but it's Seattle,just comes with the territory!We actually didn't even need it to be quite honest.So,for all those newbies out there or those who have been contemplating this decision,it's worth it.I have officially crossed brazilian wax off my bucket list:) read more

Let's be honest - no one LOVES going to get waxed, right? It's not like you wake up the morning of your appointment and think to yourself, "I can't WAIT to go get a bunch of hair ripped off the most sensitive parts of my body! This is going to be the BEST. DAY. EVER. They're gonna write songs about it. It'll be epic." But alas, it's a necessary evil for those of us who don't want to rock the au natural look (to each their own, but... no thanks). So if you have to go, go to Lynaia at the Wax Bar in West Seattle. She's fast, she's funny (i.e., she distracts you from what's REALLY going on), she's incredibly accommodating with last-minute requests, (i.e., "I just started swimming again and if I don't get my upper legs done today they might not let me in the pool"), and she's the best waxer I've ever had. I'm 39 with dark, coarse hair - that's saying something, believe me. Not to mention the facility itself is super clean, super cute, and I've found a ton of last-minute gifts there (jewelry, purses, candles, clothes, cards, facial products, etc.). They always have great package offers on Brazilians, happy hour prices, and punch cards for lips, brows, etc., so it's very affordable. Overall I wasn't too impressed. I did like that they got me in on a same day appointment and the space is nice. Nothing special but it is a cute and clean boutique salon type space. When I booked the appointment I asked about how long it would take since I had another appointment after and they said that I should be in and out in about 10-15 minutes. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment to check in and I was told someone would be right out. It was 15 minutes before someone came out for me. I ended up being there a total of 35 minutes door to door. Overall it was probably the most painful brow wax I have ever had. I had about 10 small scabs above both of my eyes by the next morning wear the skin was ripped off and had red marks there for weeks after. My regrowth seemed really quick like the hair wasn't pulled out at the root, but rather just broken off. Total waste of money. I forked out more than I ever have for a brow wax and I looked terrible.
