I truly cannot say enough good things about The Way Preschool. Our daughter started there when she was almost four years old, and looking back at the past year, I am amazed by how much she has grown. As a bilingual child, we have seen a huge improvement in her English, but even more importantly, we have watched her become more confident, independent, and comfortable expressing herself. One of the things we love most about the school is the amount of outdoor and unstructured play. It is so refreshing to see children encouraged to be children. Watching them play in the mud kitchen, collect rocks, search for worms and frogs, and explore nature has been wonderful. The teachers don't take over their play--they observe, listen, and step in only when needed. Because of this, our daughter has learned how to communicate with her friends, work through small disagreements, create her own games, and build confidence in her own ideas. The teachers are incredible. Communication has always been easy, and I am constantly impressed by how well they know each child. It feels like they truly see and understand who your child is, even in a short amount of time. The learning experiences are thoughtful and engaging. This year, the children watched chicks hatch and followed their journey in the classroom, which was absolutely fascinating. Our daughter would come home excited to tell us about what she had learned. I also have to mention the events and celebrations. The amount of care and attention that goes into creating meaningful memories for the children and families is something really special. Whether it was Mother's Day, Father's Day, or the Christmas musical, every event felt heartfelt and memorable. Seeing our little girl on stage during the Christmas performance is a memory I will cherish forever. The parent-teacher conferences are also incredibly thoughtful and well organized. We always left feeling informed, supported, and reassured. The teachers take the time to discuss your child's progress in detail and answer every question with care and honesty. Most importantly, throughout our time at The Way Preschool, we always felt that our daughter was loved, safe, and genuinely cared for. As a parent, there is nothing more important than that. We are so grateful for the memories, friendships, and experiences our family has had here. Our son has been at The Way for a year and we have been so pleased with his development. Ms. Denham works tirelessly to create a learning environment that integrates play with the requirements needed to transfer smoothly to pre-Kindergarten. We have seen great progress with speech, vocabulary, letters/writing skills, and overall interpersonal behavior. His preschool teacher (Ms. Aragon) is such a kind, caring, and warm presence for the children, and she created the perfect introduction to school for our child. The Way is not just a preschool, it is a place where our children are loved by the teachers as their own and taught the ways of kindness, charity and love for everyone. The TLC they provide to the kids, as well as the parents, far exceeds any other daycare/preschool I toured prior to finding this wonderful place. When I scheduled a tour, my son and I were welcomed into The Way family by Mrs. Denham, the Director. Her passion for her job truly shows, and I saw that year around with Mrs. Amanda and Mrs. Deanna, who all threw the most amazing events (Halloween, Christmas, Mother's and Father's Day) to make these years special and memorable for everyone. They really go the extra mile, reminding you as a parent, that you are enough and loved as well. Every month the school has a special theme and country of focus for the children to learn about. They also invite the parents to participate in the teaching of topics, specifically if you have knowledge of the countries they are learning about that month. My son enjoyed water play and learned how to garden in the summer, creating life long friendships in the process. When a conflict occurred between the children, a notice was sent home to the parents to notify them what action was taken. When my son felt sick, they were quick to relay the urgency, giving him snuggles and making him feel safe until we could pick him up. This is a truly special place where, in addition to a scholastic curriculum, your children will feel loved and learn one of the hardest skills to master: kindness. The Way teaches through TK, and when the time came for my son to move to his new school, I was genuinely heart broken that we wouldn't be able to see the bright and shining faces of the ladies (and Mr. Denham, the CEO) that make The Way so special. I remember when I brought my son Kyrie for a tour to check out the school when he was about to turn 3. I met Jennel, the preschool director, and instantly felt her warmth, kind heart filled with the Holy Spirit, and so much love for the kids and this special place her and her husband had just started. I was in the thick of motherhood with two super active toddlers and working in real estate. I remember carrying Karter, who was little under 2 at the time during the tour while Kyrie was refusing to leave, completely fascinated by the playground and everything the school had to offer. It was love at first sight and we never toured another preschool because we knew this was the one. Fast forward 2.5 years of the most perfect preschool experience and our baby is heading to kindergarten. I couldn't feel more confident that he's going to excel because his foundation is so strong. The incredible, dedicated teachers not only supported strong academic development but, most importantly, provided him with the tools to develop healthy emotional skills, nurtured his leadership drive, led with positive reinforcement, and allowed him to be a joyful toddler. A little over a year later, my 15 months younger Karter joined when he turned 3, and it was pure bliss having both of them at the same school - guided in their brotherly relationship, with all its ups and downs. I've felt so supported as a parent and have always received the most valuable tips for compassionate, healthy parenting. It's such a blessing we got to experience the best of both - a nurturing school and the most loving, dedicated teachers along the way. The values aligned so well, and we were able to grow so much during these years. I know the bar here was set so unrealistically high that I'll have to come down to earth during our future school years, but I truly believe these early years have had the most crucial impact. I'm forever grateful for the boys' preschool, for every thoughtful school project I can't let go of, for so many beautiful memories, the best pictures of our sweet boys, new friendships, and for the fact that we got to send both of them to this special place. Thank God it's not a goodbye, because we still have one more year of preschool for our Karter and genuine friendships with the teachers. read more

I highly recommend The Way Preschool. There are so many things to love about this school! We adore the staff here as does our child; every single staff member is loving and kind and our son feels so safe and comfortable with them. The environment is fantastic; always clean, but also so thoughtfully designed for the children to thrive. The curriculum is enjoyable for the children at this sweet age while also being educational. Lastly, the structure of their day and philosophy is a large reason why we love the school; the children PLAY both inside and in the yard a ton. They spend so much time outside and are fully able and encouraged to explore - children just being children and it is so sweet! Even when it rains, the staff has them outside. I cannot say enough great things about The Way - it has been such a blessing to our family! It is not the most affordable option, but we make the choice to attend The Way because it is an all-around wonderful place for a child to thrive. read more

Our son has been at The Way for just over a year now. He has absolutely prospered here, and grown and learned so much. The teachers and staff are the most intentional, kind, and helpful people you will ever find at any preschool. They go to great lengths to notice and care for every child in their care. Our son comes home telling us everyday how he caught frogs on the playground, or was digging for worms- he loves it. They do art projects with the kids everyday, and have such a great curriculum ranging from academics to dinosaurs. One of our favorite things (we have so many) is that on rainy days they will let the kids play out side and stomp in puddles in their rain gear. We have two boys and after having a terrible experience at another preschool with a Reggio Emilia approach, called Dot to Dot in Rancho Bernardo we knew we needed to find another school for our second son. We did a lot of research and after finding out the Way also taught with a Reggio Emilia approach, I immediately called to inquire about a tour. We have been attending the Way for 2 years and we have been thrilled with the experience. All 3 teachers are ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS and our son has flourished soo much we are sad to have to move on to Kindergarten next year Everything that was horrible about Dot to Dot has been the exact opposite with the Way. - there has been zero turnover which means my son has had the same teachers the entire time. - they create an amazing first learning environment that I'm sad to say my first son didn't have at Dot to Dot. There were absolutely no letters or numbers taught to my son at Dot to Dot which is mind blowing now. - communication with the teachers is always welcome and is well received. Our son attended The Way for about 1.5 years (M, W, F, 8am to 12pm). While we are happy that he graduated from preschool/TK but we are still sad that our son is no longer at The Way as he's a kindergartener now. We moved here from NorCal and knew that we want to start our son in preschool. We first met Jennel/Mrs. Denham, the founder, during our tour and decided right away from touring just the ONE preschool. We were so fortunate to have found a preschool with a Montessori program that is so well thought out - to nurture, to let the children flourish and thrive for the next chapters. Our son acclimated to the preschool setting in a fairly short time. He always looked forward to attending school and playing with his best friends. As parents, these are the positive signs that put us at ease, as we entrust our dear child onto the educators hand. All the teachers (Mrs. Denham, Mrs. Deanna and Mrs. Amanda) will always greet the students and parents with such bright smile and always with positive attitude. We are so thankful for them as our son had learned so much under their guidance especially with being patience, loving, kind, honest, and respectful. As for the curriculum, we were very impressed with the monthly theme from learning about different countries/cultures, science, math, arts and crafts, cooking/baking, animals, gardening and not forgetting nature play. We knew of their learning progress through regular updates and parent teacher conference feedbacks. All the teachers respect each child and lead with so much kindness and compassion. We received praises about our son but in returns our son had also shared so many praises on all 3 teachers and how he loves them all. I have written two reviews in my life on yelp. This will be my second. If you have a new child attending this school, I would highly recommend that you read this review in detail. My wife and I recently enrolled our three and four-year-old boys to the way. They have been in daycare since they were four months old and this would be a pretty big transition for them going to a new school. Luckily, we had some of our Neighbor friends already attending. Our boys went there two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our youngest three-year-old was having a difficult time with his transition. We understood that our children were coming from more of a daycare setting and that the way was a more structural school setting. The issues with our 3yr old involved keeping his hands to himself, as well as lashing out at the teachers and throwing temper tantrums . We started getting feedback almost immediately, and made sure to implement all the ideas that the teacher Miss denim had. We checked out library books, spoke to a child psychiatrist, even though our child has never had any issues like this at his previous school. We did absolutely everything Miss Denham had told us to do. Our youngest would always be so happy when we would pick him up from school, saying how much he loved being there. This past Thursday, we got a call that we had to go pick up our youngest because he had hit another child. This was his sixth day at the school. We rushed over and picked him up. We kept thinking back to how Miss denim would explain that it was going to take time for him to learn the new rules and the new guidelines of his school and teacher. We were assured that everything would be all right, and that it was a work in progress. Fast forward to today and we drop our kids off at the way. Before my wife is to leave, Miss Denham asked to speak with her in private. For some reason, Miss Denham's husband was in the meeting with my wife. We are not sure what if any affiliation he has with the school or why he would be in a meeting regarding our child, which he has no experience with. Miss denmin proceeded to have him be the bearer of bad news, explaining that our child was no longer welcome at the way. Not only did Miss denim not have the professionalism to explain to my wife as the teacher, why our son would not be allowed to attend the school anymore, she did not even bother to make eye contact with my wife, looking at her husband up and down the whole time and then looking at the floor. We are devastated the way, and Miss denim gave up on our child. Explaining to my youngest on the car ride home that he was no longer welcome at the school had him broke down in tears with his head in his lap the whole ride home. As a parent, I feel at fault for putting him in the hands of such impatient unwilling teachers. Seven days with a brand new child, and then kicking them out, is absolutely uncalled for and shows your professionalism resides only on compliant children. Shame on you. Also, the email response we received looked almost completely automated. Either that or written by the husband. read more

After experiencing a horrific first day at another preschool in the area, I heard about The Way Preschool & decided to attend a tour with our daughter. From the first day of meeting Mrs. Denham, her kind, welcoming, feeling tone was noticed. She showed interest in hearing about our previous experience & greeted our daughter with a smile. That day she made our daughter feel welcomed, loved & safe. Being a teacher myself, we as teachers just feel exceptional teachers in our hearts. About 1 year ago I toured this brand new preschool and I knew from the moment I stepped in that this place was special! Mrs. Denham is so warm, patient and nurturing. She had a specific vision for the school and it all came to life. The outdoor space is HUGE! Little kids need to play, explore, get dirty and learn through hands on activities and that is exactly what they do everyday at The Way.
