    Locked gate.
    Ryan S.

I rarely write reviews and I need to state this is not a review regarding the Inn itself. Instead it is regarding management. I booked a room through hotels.com, I do this 30-40 times a year and this is the first time I have had an issue of an Inn/hotel being closed. I arrived at the outer gate around 7:45pm (the Inn seems to be in a neighborhood) it was locked and nobody was there. It said a remote was needed. I called the Inn twice and nobody answered. I checked online and it said the office closes at 4:30pm and I actually booked the hotel at exactly 4:30pm (odd coincidence). So I called hotels.com and they also tried multiple times....no answer. After trying again and waiting around an hour, I had to book another hotel through hotels.com. The agent said the hotel would probably refund since they were closed when I arrived. I had a bad feeling and actually drove to the Inn the next day and was able to speak with the manager. She said she would not refund because they left me a key. She said she emailed instructions for checking in after hours. Which is a complete lie. I asked her why they didn't call since it was booked as they were closing, she again said a email was sent. Somebody there dropped the ball and didn't Send the email because I never received on (I checked the junk folder also), I also called hotels.com and they said they didn't receive an email either. So basically, according to the manager, they are keeping over $175 from me for (supposedly) placing a key in an envelope, they couldn't be bothered to call and let me know. It's hard to trust a place that is lacking the integrity to admit when they forgot to send an email or place a simple call since they knew that no one was going to be there when a customer was arriving after hours. It's a tough time for everyone and to pocket someone's money is just unethical when you are the reason they couldn't check in.

    Sunset room upstairs

Had a really great stay here when my bf and I just popped in the weekend of goombay and didn't know. We got their info from the inn association and so glad we did. We stayed upstairs in the sunset room. Was gorgeous--the bed is amazing comfortable. Only thing was the shower pressure was just mediocre, but the bathroom is huge and plenty of fluffy towels. We ended up getting the whole floor to ourselves which was so nice. Really romantic. Got lots of good advice from the staff about places to go. They were nice enough to let us stay for a little extra time as we were hungover Sunday morning Breakfast croissants were delicious. But do feel the breakfast should have had more for the cost. Wish the water and fridges were upstairs too. Location is pretty hard to find on google maps just because the gating. Have to go through the main Truman annex. Loved the free mini water bottles. They really help out in a pinch. Will definitely be coming back!

30 stairs straight up to a room with a broken, ancient tv. 30 stairs straight down and back up another flight of stairs for warm coffee, cold pre packaged croissant for breakfast, and ice. Not easy to maneuver after a night of wining and dining. Great location in gated area but still a long walk to Mallory Square & Duvall. I'd rather walk farther and have a better room with decent amenities. Hotel staff was polite but shouldn't be needed just to operate a tv. Our friends tv didn't work either and they had a ceiling dripping water that never got addressed.

Great place to stay in Key West! Close to Duvall St while still providing a quiet place to stay.

Simply beautiful. Nice and quiet in a gated community (Truman annex). Very well located and beautiful rooms.

This impressive Queen Anne Victorian style house was designed as a one-bedroom mansion. What it lacked in bedrooms it more than made up for with its open water views, elegant public rooms, two story balconies, and large stained glass windows to catch the ocean breezes. little bit of History piece: William Curry came to Key West, from the Bahamas, penniless. He became a wrecker and with his massive fortune, built eight mansions in Key West and became Florida's first millionaire. His daughters wed wealthy men as well. One of his daughters, Florida Euphemia, married Judge Vining Harris. Interesting Fact: Electricity was a novelty and a luxury in the 1890's. Mrs. Harris wanted the best and was able to engage Thomas Edison to oversee the electrical design and installation for the house.

The pluses include a beautifully maintained courtyard and pool area with all manner of palms and tropical plants that are very well cared for, and a pool that manages that Goldilocks just right magic of being refreshingly cool during the day and almost bath water warm at night. Whatever temperature you're looking for it to be, it is. So many hotel pools and the keys aren't heated at all, which they really need to be in order to be comfortable in the winter season, and others are overly hot so they aren't comfortable during the daytime. This one is perfect, and azure blue. La! I found the bed extremely comfortable and the room very well kept and clean, although I can see where many travelers would find it cramped. We wound up in room 13, which I think probably offers the quietest location within the complex as well as a slightly more sizable room than some of the others. My husband found the noise from the neighboring pub distracting when trying to fall asleep, but I thought the room was incredibly well soundproofed considering the amount of hustle and bustle in this busy tourist area. You will also hear airplanes taking off and landing here, but you also hear them everywhere elseon the island, and with the window air conditioning unit on high fan at all times I found the city noise was almost entirely drowned out. The ceiling fan, however, was unbalanced and when we had the repair person come look at it he said it's fine, which is certainly wasn't. My only disappointment in our visit was that the breakfast that were included were pretty meh. I've been spoiled on staying at b&B's where the breakfast was a huge part of the experience, and here I felt like every single breakfast we had I could have made much better at home. Especially in Key West where there are three creperies within a 3 minute walk of each other, the breakfast game is strong, so when you aren't bringing your a game it really shows. The manager of the facility and most of the staff were incredibly friendly and seemed to truly enjoy and take pride in their work, which made our experience extra enjoyable. We also enjoyed chatting with fellow guests in the charming breakfast nook and comfy poolside seats. We stayed here for four nights and stayed at the far more expensive Southernmost Beach Resort for one night during our recent visit, then spent a week with friends who live in the area. The room was much larger at Southernmost, but much more problematic and less painstakingly cleaned, and radically less soundproofed than our room here. On a future visit we would stay two extra nights here for the same price.
