She had good things to say about them. My SIL's friend also used OPOWS, so I figured that if a few of my mutual connections have used this vendor, then I should work with them as well. Since I didn't have a wedding planner, going with a one-stop shop wedding services package was definitely a big help. It made my wedding execution seamless! I reached out to OPOWs about a year before my wedding date. Aggie is the main person who runs OPOWS. Aggie was super responsive with our conversations. She informed me about the wedding service package options. I decided to go with the Plus Package option which includes: photographer, videographer, wedding dresses (which I didn't use), Emcee, DJ (I gave the DJ our custom playlist since my husband and I wanted to pick our songs), hair and make-up artist, reception decorations, and chair covers. We scheduled to meet a few times before my wedding. Aggie was super helpful with providing recommendations and tips. I could tell that she really cares about her clients and wants to leave a good impression. Nearing my wedding date, she provided me with a run down schedule so that I could coordinate with her team and the external vendors that she partnered with. We made sure that my wedding day itinerary made sense. On the day of my wedding, I met most of my vendors in person. I was definitely stressed out because I always have this fear that something will go wrong. But to my surprise, all of my vendors did an excellent job on my wedding day. I could tell that they really enjoyed their job and tried to help me make the most out of my wedding day. Throughout the wedding and after the wedding, I received so many compliments from my guests in regards to the wedding decorations, the vendors we used, and etc. I made sure to advertise OPOWS to my guests in case they want to work with a one-stop shop vendor haha. We paid extra for our photographer (Tang) and my MUA (Hera) was amazing. Hera was my main point of contact regarding any upgrades, questions, or changes to our package. While Hera was on vacation, I worked with Aggie to discuss and finalize the decorations of the venue. I picked out my potential dresses months in advance and Hera put them on hold for me as another bride was interested in one of the dresses I picked out. The MC and DJ were assigned a month before the actual wedding to discuss a song list and anything the MC needed to confirm and know in advance. Our MC was Jason and he was very lively and made the night more fun with his enthusiasm. The entire team was very patient and worked with me throughout the whole planning process as I had many questions and requests. I'm really glad I booked OPO because I didn't need to deal with additional vendors and could focus on what I really wanted for my wedding that OPO didn't cover. As a queer Black/Asian couple, finding vendors we trusted to be genuinely good to us mattered a lot -- people who would celebrate our wedding, not just tolerate it. AMA has an incredible track record of working with queer couples and couples of color, and that history gave us so much peace of mind going in. It ended up being one of the smartest decisions we made in this entire process. From those first budgeting conversations all the way through our wedding weekend, Chanda and her team at AMA were with us every step of the way, with our lead planner Tim'mya guiding us throughout. What struck us early was how much of the heavy lifting they took off our plates. AMA found most of our vendors for us, and rather than handing us a single name, they'd come back with a few thoughtful options that fit our vision and our budget. Every vendor they brought us turned out to be excellent. The whole process felt genuinely collaborative: we'd tell them what we were dreaming up, and they'd find a way to make it happen. Between all the vendors and the endless little details, we had a dozen different threads going, and we never hesitated to throw a half-formed idea into one of them in the middle of the night. More often than not, we'd wake up to find Tim'mya already on it. Our wedding was a fusion of our two cultures, Chinese and Black American, and we were ambitious about how that blend showed up in every detail. One of our non-negotiables was a venue that could do a custom menu drawing from both of our backgrounds and actually do it well, since we placed a huge importance on good food. AMA understood that immediately and helped us find exactly what we wanted. When we couldn't track down dumpling baskets at a price that made sense, Tim'mya went as far as sourcing a supplier from China (tariffs ended up killing the plan, but nevertheless this was above and beyond). Nothing was ever met with "we can't," it was always "let's figure it out." That same care carried across a genuinely demanding weekend, because we didn't just have a wedding day -- we had a welcome party, the ceremony and reception, and a farewell brunch across three days, each with its own menu, theme, and dress code. AMA brought a full production team that handled all of our decor setup and kept us on track the entire time; our planner was running around nonstop so that we never had to. It even surprised us how much we loved every single piece of it. After the welcome party alone, we turned to each other and said that if that had been the whole celebration, we'd have walked away happy. Then, the ceremony and reception was where our vision really came to life. A lush greenery installation floated above us during the ceremony, and at the reception our sweetheart table sat beneath a clean white backdrop cut with our family name, a gold dragon centerpiece in the middle, with wild tropical florals spilling over everything: red anthuriums, birds of paradise, and palm and banana leaves all around the room. Between the rattan lanterns, the woven chairs, and the pops of vibrant color, every detail turned out even better than we'd imagined. More than anything, AMA gave us the freedom to be present at our own wedding. While they coordinated the chaos, we got to soak all of it in and just enjoy everything. If you're planning something big, ambitious, or deeply personal, we can't recommend A Monique Affair enough.

He was charismatic, organized, and handled last-minute changes effortlessly. We had to adjust our timeline during the reception, including pausing photos and adding speeches, and he kept everything flowing naturally without awkward downtime. He also perfectly coordinated our unique sequence of dances with the DJ, making every transition feel seamless. DJ Otis: We didn't know who our DJ would be until the wedding day, and we were thrilled it was Otis! He absolutely nailed the music all night. The dance floor stayed packed until 11 PM because he knew exactly how to read the crowd. He mixed current hits with 70s-90s favorites that kept both younger guests and the older Vietnamese crowd dancing. The glow sticks and light-up glasses were a huge hit, and the energy never dropped. Day-of Coordinator Carina: Carina was incredible. She was warm, personable, and unbelievably organized. I thought my planning documents were detailed, but hers were even more thorough! She made me feel completely at ease leading up to the wedding and even drove to Pleasanton to run our rehearsal (an add-on that was absolutely worth it). Multiple vendors and family members commented on how efficient and organized she was. Photography & Videography: Our package included an engagement shoot plus two photographers and two videographers. Sam photographed both our engagement session and wedding, and his work was beautiful. We chose his light and airy editing style, and our engagement photos turned out amazing. On the wedding day, Sam and Christine were fantastic. They captured every moment while making us feel comfortable. One thing I'll never forget was how Sam noticed we hadn't had a moment to ourselves because of nonstop photos. He quietly pulled us away under the guise of a private reception reveal so we could enjoy a few peaceful minutes together. It was such a thoughtful gesture.
