The service was fine. The alterations woman is wonderful, it's too bad she's moving out of the country. I did not purchase my dress from here. This establishment is cash only. Buyer beware if you didn't purchase your dress here they charge the same as one of the bigger places in Manhattan. In an effort to save the commute you pay for it in your alterations. They do not take care of your dress. There's fringes all over the dress and drag it all over. The dress rooms are unkempt with pins everywhere and I'm not sure when they swept or vacuumed last. This place has some amazing dresses. I actually bought the dress here that I wore to my daughter's Sweet 16. Their alterations are a bit pricey and it's cash only. They do however let you pay the first downpayment with a card, but the remainder must be paid in cash (which I didn't care too much for). The service was amazing and my dress came in much earlier than expected. They did not have a wide variety of Tiaras as I was looking for one that was a champagne gold color. I'd look on Etsy or Amazon for that. You'd be better off. Bought my daughter's dress here last year, and could not tell you anyone's names since nobody introduced themselves. Don't expect a "say yes to the dress" experience, definitely no frills as Stacey F. said in her review. I found the experience to be cold, rushed and rude. Even other women that came in to inquire were met rudely by the women at the desk and told to go away and make an appointment first. The person working with us was the owner or the daughter of the owner/seamstress and we did have an appointment. There were other appointments going on, and the atmosphere was tense as the bridal consultants all seemed annoyed, to be honest. Anyway, I paid cash for the downpayment, and they told me I could pay the rest by credit card, no problem. When we went to do the only fitting, they told me I was supposed to pay cash. It was on a Saturday and no banks were open where I could just withdraw any cash so I had to remind them of what they had told me. Plus, the wedding was months away, so I was not about to stiff them on the payment. When we went downstairs for the "fitting", the daughter was dropping f-bombs while ordering lunch for her and the staff. There was no enthusiasm about the process - my husband came for the fitting and he was surprised at how unprofessional they were. Ultimately my daughter got the dress she wanted, and they did have beautiful dresses, but I would not recommend this establishment if you have other options or are looking to be treated like you're about to spend thousands of dollars on a dress. I guess if you're in Floral Park that's your only option, but I if I was to do it all over again, I'd find a place that made the experience worth all that money. By the time I got to The Wedding Plaza- I was entirely over the wedding dress shopping experience. I had been to 4 other shops and had the same experience each time- I had to articulate my style and wedding vision to sales people who never quite understood what I was looking for. I was limited to what they wanted to pull for me, and appointments usually only being a hour meant I was at their whim. Enter The Wedding Plaza. But before I begin- I've got to admit that "mother is always right". My future grandmother-in-law kept raving about The Wedding Plaza. "You have to make an appointment!" she would always say to me. She had purchased a dress from them last year and had a wonderful experience. It wasn't that I didn't want to listen to her- just that sometimes you have to venture out on your own before you finally start listening to good advice. So I finally made my appointment, and actually felt a little bit excited that morning. Call it kismet. I was interested in trying on a variety of dresses in general, but I contacted them about one particular dress- which they confirmed for me via email that they did have in stock. We were greeted by 3 generations of women running the store- grandmother, mother and daughters- all diligently working with each other. This alone made me happy to see! But here's the best part: I got to browse the store and choose my own dresses to try on. No more trying to describe what "fairy tale realness" means! No more disappointing a sales girl when I say I don't like what she picked! I was immediately renewed with a sense of hope and excitement. There's a decent plus size section- so there were plenty of dresses for me to zip and clip onto my body. And I was still able to grab lots of dresses from the standard size section and hold up to my body, or in some cases at least fit the bottom half on. It finally felt like I was personally shopping for my wedding dress! Luana and Carmela were so awesome helping me into dresses and giving their thoughts- never being pushy- which was so refreshing. Everyone there felt like family. It was truly an entirely different experience from everywhere else I went! On top of all of this- their deposit/ordering policy is lower than anywhere else I went! All the other stores I visited wanted the full cost of the dress up front. Currently (saying that in case their policy ever changes)- they only ask for 50% down. This made it possible for me to order my dream dress and I'm forever grateful! Plus their cap on wedding dress alterations being lower than anywhere else I've been (it's somewhere around $650, I can't remember the exact number). I've also heard from multiple people that their alterations department does great work. Considering all of the above- it felt like a no brainer to order from here. So, I said "yes to dress" and got to ring the bell! They then played "Going To The Chapel" on the store music speakers, as I tried to hold back happy tears. Absolute A+++ experience! Nice boutique to check out. I did not make an appointment, which was not a problem at all. I came in around noon on a Sunday, and it was not very busy. There was a handful of other customers, but no one was neglected. Worked with Luana, who was attentive and helpful. What I really like is that each dress is hanging in a clear garment bag, with a picture of a model wearing the dress. So you don't have to guess the fit or how the gown will look when worn. Really helpful! No wasting time putting on a sheath dress when a mermaid dress is what you had in mind, for example. The majority of the dresses seem to have plunging necklines. Maybe that's what is most popular with many brides, but that is not my preference. I did find a beautiful dress that was not plunging, but it was too modest and plain in front. Haha maybe I'm being too picky. My fiancés sister told me that when I find THE dress, then I will know. *Crosses fingers* The boutique is very nicely decorated with mirrors with ornate frames and decently sized platforms to step onto in front of the mirrors. I went to this store a few weeks ago to order tiara crown for my wedding. I was never in the store before. Everyone was nice and pleasant. I found a crown that I liked, but there was damage to it so the gentleman said he would order another one and it would be there by end of the week three weeks past and finally someone called me that the crown was in, but by then I fell in love with another one in a different place and purchased it. I went back in today because I wanted to let them know I purchased another crown and if they would just allow me to exchange the money that I left for a deposit for a new item, sash, jewelry, etc. they refused they told me it was final sale and that I had to pay the remainder of the deposit or lose the money that I put down which was half the amount.. regardless of the item being final sale they could have as a first time client given me a courtesy and allow me to pick something else out . I was told. It was extremely popular crown, and I knew that it would sell quickly.. I was led from one person to another one more nasty than the next!!! one saying it was made for me, which it was not because it was all Amazon . Bottom line unprofessional nasty instead extending courtesy they lost three potential clients down the road when we informed them of that fact, they said we were very nasty for telling them that. I met Ron at a bridal expo last year and my cousin ended up getting her wedding gown from the wedding plaza. This year I decided to go back for my wedding gown because they carry my favorite designer. The initial appointment for trying on and choosing a gown went very well. It took forever for the gown to come in. I only called twice in 4 months to check for updates, but I was so worried and anxious. My first dress fitting went well. The dress was prob two sizes too big, I don't like the whole measuring and chart lookup to choose your size. Since I have a larger bust, they had to size up. I get it they want to make money on alterations but they didn't have to size up that much. I should of prob brought in my own measurements and had them go off of that. My second dress fitting I had to sit and wait 30m for Carmela to finish another gown then the bride came in with an attitude and Carmela asked if she could do her fitting first. I said ok. I didn't want to be rushed so I let her go. When that bride was undressing I went to put on my gown. Her mother was waiting around for her and when I stood on the platform in front of Carmela, the woman started touching my gown and pulling at the train. I was so shocked. After my first fitting each fitting was worse and worse. From having to wait a long time, to strangers touching my dress who shouldn't even have been at my fitting in the first place. It was raining outside on my final fitting. Carmela was supposed to have the belt attached and the hem done for my final fitting. When I went to try on the gown, the belt wasn't attached. This woman came downstairs in her dirty wet rain boots asking Carmela about a garment bag. I said excuse me I'm trying to have my fitting. Carmela asked her to wait upstairs then asked me to take a walk to make sure the hem was good. I was absolutely not. The floor is wet and dirty. I took off the gown and she asked if I could wait 45min for her to put on the belt. I told her I would be back in a hour. I was leaving on a flight 7:30 am the next morning for my destination wedding and I still had a couple errands to run. My wedding was amazing and I looked great! However the bustle was still a little to big so I was pulling up the dress a lot during the reception. The hem was also slightly too long and there was something weird with the belt. It didn't look so straight. I probably would get another gown from the wedding plaza because I got a good price as a repeat customer. I wouldn't get alterations done there again because my appointments were shared, rushed, delayed or interrupted. My alterations could have been done a lil better. To start the hunt of finding the perfect dress for my friend we decided to visit this place first. As we walked in we were greeted by this woman whom informed me she does not usually work with the bridal dresses and she does usually work with the men on tuxedos. One thing about this woman is she is about her business she gave us cards asked us if we were interested in renting/buying tuxes and said she could do a house visit for the men if this service is convenient I say use her! She was very pleasant and a gem the entire time. We went in without an appointment and although she didn't mind the other young lady that was there you could tell did. When we first walked in, she was assisting a woman with a dress whom looked to be the mother of a bride. As the lady told her that we were just looking around for dresses, and my friend was actually the bride etc. her response was "I'm busy right now and I can't help them." Now let's be clear I am more than capable of pulling dresses off a rack and dragging them to the fitting room as I did three dresses at a time to be exact. Realistically, her assistance was not needed and she was immediately offensive to us as new potential clients. Moving forward we were told by the other woman that we could use a fitting room in the back and decided to try on a few dresses. For one all of the dresses that are on the racks are small sizes. They run small so size 6, size 8 my friend is shapely we could not get any of these dresses on properly. What I didn't know this is the best dresses are actually on the mannequins. I found this out after I pulled about three dresses, and the bags were empty and she told us that those were the ones that were on the mannequins. This is a small shop they do not have many dresses to choose from. The dresses on the right side are standard regular size dresses and on the left in the front it's a small amount of plus size dresses available. After the young lady that does actually assist brides with dresses was finished with her appointment or what could've been her appointment she never not once asked us if we needed assistance. She never asked if we needed help or even if she could take down our number. Asking questions felt like we were bothering her. I know for sure that she saw us looking at 2 to 3 dresses on mannequins and she never once asked if we wanted to try them on asked if we were interested nothing. Now after some shopping at other places we've been asked if you wanted to try something on a mannequin and they would pull it right off without an issue. I've come to the conclusion that this place in particular with this young woman was just not for us and what can I say my friend went elsewhere and is spending over $4,000 on a dress YOU LOST OUT! read more

Since my original review, I've had 1 phone interaction with The Wedding Plaza, and returned 2x for dress fittings and alterations. Upon reading my original review, a sales rep named Lisa called to offer an apology for my experience and address my concerns. She reassured me of the reasons why the dress size ordered for me was what it was, and that if it didn't fit, alterations would be free of charge. I was very impressed with the customer service and professionalism. When my dress came in, I called to schedule an appointment for my 1st fitting. Getting someone on the phone was a little difficult (the calls kept going to voicemail), but once I did, making an evening appointment after work was easy. When I went back in, the salesperson I worked with was very friendly and helpful. As for the dress, I was bummed to see that the brand new dress already had imperfections on it where the tulle had snagged on the sequins. I'm happy to say, however, my initial concerns about the size were wrong; the dress was actually too small and had to be let out. To let out the seams near the bust and shoulders cost $55, which seems high, but they explained this was because the material was tricky. I was peeved to find out the balance for the dress was due in cash, which I had not been previously informed of, but it wasn't a huge deal. A few days later, I called again to schedule a 2nd dress fitting. I had even more trouble this time getting someone on the phone, but again, once I did, scheduling an appointment was painless. When I went back for my fitting post-alterations, the dress fit much better, but the seamstresses were careless with the dress, causing even more snagging of the tulle by the sequins. When the seamstress, Carmela, brought out my dress after hemming it, I saw that it had snagged in 3 different spots. I pointed it out to her, to which she responded, "Yeah, you have to be careful, but it's also gonna do this all day when you wear it." It felt very dismissive. As a professional who works with delicate dresses day in and day out, I would expect that she'd know how to handle materials like tulle to prevent snagging. I tried on the dress one last time, then they took it for pressing. We went upstairs to the cashier to pay for the alterations, also due in cash, and someone brought the dress up to us. We checked the dress out, and there were still wrinkles in the dress, but we figured it was just the material. On our way out, the seamstress who was working with Carmela comes back up to "make sure I was happy" with the dress, likely because word had gotten around about my previous less-than-glowing review. I pointed out the wrinkles, and she said she could press the dress again. After the second press, it looked slightly better, but still imperfect. Overall, my experience definitely improved from the one I described in my original review, but they still failed to wow me. In discussing with the other 5 bridesmaids in our group, the consensus was that most of us did not have a great experience here. read more

Let me start off with the good - I loved my dress. I loved my veil. I loved the tiara. Everything came together beautifully and fit well. I didn't have any quality issues and the whole process of shopping for my dress & getting fitted for my dress was really well-structured and enjoyable. I was able to bring most of my bridesmaids and some of my cousins for all my dress fittings, which was great! My only issue with the wedding plaza came towards the end of the process, with the alterations. I felt like they were rushed into the last three weeks of the process and every time I went back to try the dress on, there were things missing - the hem wasn't cut, the sleeves weren't attached yet etc. I also felt like there was every opportunity taken to upcharge me throughout the alteration process, with a skirt being added in two weeks before the wedding. I was surprised at my alteration price given that I wasn't having that much done to the dress aside from adding straps & having the bust/hem taken in. All in all, the dress did fit and looked gorgeous but it was pretty stressful to not see the dress done with the straps on until 5 days before I got married (and have that be the last time I could try it on to make any changes as well). I recommend the Wedding Plaza for trying on your dress, buying your dress and fitting your dress - not so much with alterations! Ron and the other shop girls (Dawn & Carmella) were incredibly helpful and very easy to work with throughout the process. read more

They have a great way of displaying their dresses and a lovely area to try them on. I bought a beautiful mother of the bride dress at the store. . I wish I could give a better rating but the alterations department is a disaster! I came back multiple times and things were never done properly. Hems not completed , requested linings not done and beads not tacked on and left hanging even after requests were made. They don't listen or care. I can't recommend the Wedding Plaza enough! I purchased my wedding dress here last year for my December 2022 wedding. Ron, the owner, and all of the staff members were unbelievably helpful. They have a wide range of dresses so I didn't have any trouble finding the perfect gown within my budget. I didn't feel pressured into making a purchase, which I was initially worried about, and was so comfortable the entire time. I came with a pretty big group and the shop was able to accommodate everyone. I also decided to change my dress choice two days after picking "the one" (oops) and Ron was so understanding! 11/10 service and the inventory is stunning. I went to the wedding plaza in October 2022 This place was horrendous! The most unprofessional service I have ever received in my life. Employees were very inattentive and dismissive. She took multiple personal phone calls where she continued to yell at her husband. Calling him an idiot/ moron. It was very uncomfortable. One of her coworkers even called another customer a "difficult bride" right in front of me, I was shocked! She also continued to give her unsolicited opinions about my dress selections. I remained calm and cordial but I couldn't get out of this place fast enough. Its sad because I always try to support local shops but I will not step foot back in this place. They had decent dresses but it was not worth the hassle. If you're looking for a wedding dress. Look elsewhere! You'll thank me later. read more

I had to come and leave a review because I feel that many of these are unfair and unrepresentative of the work done (specifically by Carmela) at the wedding plaza. I had a complicated dress and wanted the sleeves to be very tight. I was EXTREMELY particular and had 7 fittings overall. Carmela was patient with me even when sometimes I was not being so reasonable (when I had a minor freak out that I hated the bra I chose even though it ended up being great!) As long as you treat Carmela and the wedding plaza staff with dignity and respect, you will get the same in return. My dress came out AMAZING and I was never charged extra for all of my fitting appointments. Please ignore the negative reviews, come in with an open mind and get the dress of your dreams. Visited to try "mother-of-the-bride" dresses. I wear Petite size to avoid costly alterations that inevitably change the garment a bit. Millie was the attendant, very helpful and knowledgeable. All garment bags had a picture of a 20 year old model wearing the gorgeous gown; somehow I could not relate. Besides most of the gowns were strapless, sleeveless or spaghetti straps. So one of my friends was getting married and I was asked to be a bridesmaid. We went to the Wedding Plaza with high hopes. The Sales Team, including the owner were great. The seamstress was super nice. I trusted them that they were telling me what would make the dress look the best it could. First Issue - the prices on the website are $25 cheaper than in store. I am beyond upset that they even suggested anything to be done. Now ladies I am not some super skinny skinny girl but i made the biggest mistake listening to them. They took in the dress way too much. Even tighter than what they pinned. I could barely breath. I look even even heavier because of the back back fat and armpit fat oozing out the dress. I was literally in shock at the disaster this dress had become. I walked out of the store with my now too small dress in tow and burst into tears.
