One of the best coffee shops I've ever been to. We were walking to another destination on vacation and stopped in here for a "wake up" for the road. My wife got an oatmilk vanilla mocha latte and I went crazy (like I usually do at a coffee place) and got a cinnamon roll latte. It was literally a liquid cinnamon roll in coffee form. You could smell it through the lid! Matthew was very patient with us trying to decide! What was the best part, was that the coffee was ready to drink when we got it. The staff is super friendly and the ambience is is very nice for remote work. The drink I got was also quite tasty and well made. However, I will note that there are very few accessible plugs and the WiFi, though it listed full bars, did not work properly so I ended up having to connect to my own hot spot. So that is a consideration for if you are looking for a place to work, however everything else was lovely. read more

I needed a pick-me-up at work around downtown Boston and came across this cozy coffee shop. Many in the area are large chains (think Tatte or Caffè Nero) so it was a pleasant surprise to find something more local. I was particularly intrigued by their designation as a nonprofit coffee shop. Each month, they select a nonprofit to support, and these are often local charities. I really love that mission, and they really did seem to live it out through a few interactions I saw between staff and diverse community members who came in. It also appears to also be a faith-based organization, though I didn't notice any religious iconography in the store itself. I'm also very happy to report that I liked the coffee. I ordered a hot mocha, and I was impressed by how strong it was - both the coffee and the mocha flavor. I would definitely come back to support them! read more

We stopped in here for a quick coffee while exploring Boston and had a nice experience. Although my drink, "The Well Mocha", was far too sweet (I'd recommend asking for 1/2 sweet if that's not your thing!), the group's consensus was that the coffee was good. The wait time for the drinks was reasonable, we were able to grab a standing table with no issues, and enjoyed our drinks for a few minutes before venturing back out into the city. While walking exploring Boston I came around this shop, and decided to make a quick stop since it was very cold. Let me tell you I tried tons of shops whole here and this has to be my favorite. Their interior was very welcoming! I think they have some resource or service offer that allows people to drop off luggage? I've seen employees give out and receive luggage when I'm there. Customer service is great! And this is a nonprofit which is why I love this place. So far, I've had 3 drinks. Cafe mocha freeze, the well mocha freeze, and the iced well mocha. All three drinks were great. I normally like freezes but they were always too sweet for my liking and asked staff if there was any way to lower the sweetness, unfortunately, there wasn't for the freezes. However, they suggested I do iced instead. Which was a million times better. So that's the only reason for -1 star. I wished there was a way to have lower sweetness in the freezes. Very cute coffee shop in DTX with possibly the best blueberry muffin I've consumed anywhere. I have become something of a muffin fiend and, while I realize the economic cost of eating something I can either buy in bulk or make myself for a lot cheaper, sometimes you just need to treat yourself to a muffin. The one here had a beautiful crunchy sugar streusel topping with an insanely fluffy, moist center. I inhaled the whole thing in a few bites. Was it worth $5? My head tells me to not be ridiculous but my heart says, Possibly. My green tea was good. Can't say much about the coffee, only that I appreciate how they serve the small sizes in enormous mugs if you drink it there. Very nice staff working the counter who prepared everything super fast. I agree with other reviews that highlight how nice everyone here is, definitely a difference with bigger chains. Wanted to try based on star rating and being named Yelp's No. 1 coffee house in Boston. Ambiance was moderately inviting and the restroom was clean. My medium cappuccino tasted okay but the milk was over-steamed, too hot and not creamy. My daughter's matcha latte was devoid of flavor and underwhelming. Prices were high perhaps being downtown and across the street from the Old State House. Service was fine but other places were friendlier. We stumbled upon this coffeehouse while walking along the Freedom Trail. The crisp springtime air warranted for their hot Honey Lavender Latte advertised on the cute sign out front. It was served at the right temperature and perfectly made. The Lavender flavor wasn't too overpowering and the Honey sweetness was balanced without tasting overwhelmingly sweet which I enjoyed. BEST coffee in Boston and this is a hill I'm willing to die on lol!! I visit Boston quite often (several times a year) and go out of my way to visit this coffee spot every chance I get! I was lured in by their promises of Peanut Butter Mocha the first time and it was so fantastic it's kept me coming back. I've tried other flavors too - their London Fog and French toast - everything I've tried has been wonderful - but that Peanut Butter Mocha just cannot be beat!! It's so creamy and has such a flawless balance of the two flavors - heaven itself! The staff are always super friendly and you can tell they are happy to be there. The vibe is relaxing and always warm and welcoming. The location is excellent- right along the Freedom Trail with the historic Old State House right next door - a fantastic place to relax and people watch. It's always bustling outside but chill inside. And I absolutely LOVE that they pick a local non profit to support each month and donate a percentage of their profits to! They have a small food menu but I've only ever tried their cookies (which were also excellent). Truly some of the best coffee I've had on all my worldly travels and definitely best in Bean Town! If you go to Boston and only buy coffee from Starbucks or Dunkin, you are doing yourself an injustice. We were in need of a massive pick-me-up while journeying on the freedom trail. We stumbled on The Well- it was amazing. The staff are knowledgeable and willing to offer suggestions. I had the Nutty Professor and my husband had the Maple French Toast latte. The Nutty Professor was amazing- with perfect hints of hazelnut and peanut. My husband also preferred my drink to his; although, he did say his was good as well. He also had a spinach/ feta savory treat which he thought was pretty good. The atmosphere is very welcoming. They have a fair amount of indoor and outdoor seating options available. Trying to be better about Yelping same day of service. So there are layers: 1- I'm usually on the gogogogo. Work in Chinatown, get off at Boylston, book it as fast as my 4'10 1/4 self will get me to work even if I'm really not in that much of a hurry. 2-since that new fitness ring was installed on our iPhones telling us every day whether or not we closed our fitness ring I sometimes allow myself to get off at Park St or Government Center to get more steps 3- I pass The Well thinking "I don't have time" and given its location "it's probably soo expensive" so I don't stop in. 4-Today I got earlier train after dropping off my kid so I was in the area earlier and I've been working extra hours so I thought what the heck? The sign for the " caramel pecan mocha" really drew me in. Intended to grab and go but it was cozy and there was plenty of seating so I took off my coat and enjoyed my coffee there. Nicest people. Best fru fru coffee I ever had. And way less expensive than other Big Chains. Started my day thinking Monday Moanday. But I feel better. We found ourselves at this coffee shop to use their luggage storage program. Upon entering, you will feel the cozy vibes and warmth of the friendly staff. There are several clusters of tables and couches for seating and a great vibe for meetings. We probably ordered a flat white and a pumpkin spice oatmeal latte. Both were delicious and I appreciated how they were able to make the pumpkin spice latte not so sweet. Overall, a great experience and it's hard to beat their location in the heart of everything downtown. I loved this place! I was bragging about it to someone and how I just happened to come across it! I got a cold brew with almond milk. They were out of Lactaid but the fact that they even have that is a miracle. They are a Christian owned business but not agenda pushing. The story behind it is John 4:14 where Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well...hence the name. It talks about how the best drink or water that brings life is a life with Jesus. So I think it was a wise concept to name the coffee shop 'The Well'. Plus the prices are actually cheaper than most. #Inflation! read more
