We had a wonderful stay at the Carte Hotel San Diego! As Hilton Honors Gold members, we received a small room upgrade, which was a nice perk. The customer service was outstanding--anytime we needed extra towels or had a question, the staff responded quickly and always found a solution. The hotel was very clean, modern, and in a great location close to many attractions. The rooftop pool was definitely a highlight and a great place to relax. They also offer beach chair rentals, which was a nice perk as well. Although we didn't have a chance to use the gym, it looked well-equipped and very nice. The only things that weren't ideal were the valet parking because it was expensive, the pool area, and food service. I recommend parking at the private garage next door instead of using valet (not a part of the hotel). At the pool, used towels weren't replaced often and the area could get a bit messy. Ordering food and drinks poolside also wasn't very easy. If you're a Hilton Honors member, don't forget to take advantage of the dining credits--they're a great added benefit. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations, and we'd absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend! read more

1 STAR -- Extremely Disappointing Handling of a Chanel Purse left in room! My experience with the Carte Hotel San Diego has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. During our stay, my wife's black lambskin 11.12 Chanel purse was accidentally left in the closet upon check-out. We immediately filed a missing-item report through the hotel's online portal on May 18, 2026. Three days later, we were notified that the purse had not been located. I followed up personally on June 3 and provided the hotel with a detailed description of the purse. Later that SAME DAY, my wife received a text confirmation from the hotel stating that the purse had been found, with the recovery date listed as May 15, 2026 (day we checked-out). Naturally, we were relieved. We promptly paid for a shipping label so the hotel could return the purse to us. But then... the purse was never shipped. When I contacted the hotel to find out what was going on, I was suddenly told that the hotel no longer had the purse. This is extremely concerning, especially considering we had received written confirmation from the hotel that the item had been found. I have spent weeks repeatedly trying to contact the Housekeeping Manager and have not received a single return call. I also spoke with the Front Desk Manager, who assured me that the Housekeeping Manager would contact me. That call never came. I eventually spoke directly with the hotel's director, Jordan Hovis, and was shocked by how casually the situation was handled. His response was essentially, what can he do since they no longer have the purse? That is NOT an acceptable response when a hotel has confirmed that a valuable personal item was found and then cannot account for what happened to it. The biggest issue here isn't simply that an item went missing. Things can happen. The issue is the contradictory information, lack of accountability, failure to communicate, and complete lack of urgency once the hotel confirmed the purse had been found. A hotel should have a clear chain of custody for valuable lost property and should be able to explain what happened to an item after confirming it was recovered. Instead, I have been left making repeated phone calls just trying to get someone to take responsibility and provide a straightforward explanation. Extremely disappointing customer service and an unacceptable way to handle a guest's valuable property. I would think twice before leaving anything of value at this hotel. read more

The one thing I really appreciate regarding this hotel is that I was allowed to check in early at approximately 1 PM. The front desk staff was extremely affable and welcoming. There is not a bath tub to bathe my children. Thankfully, the shower was spacious enough where I was able to bathe both of them simultaneously. Sadly to say, the beds were uncomfortable. It was lumpy to the point where my sleep was constantly interrupted. I value a good night's rest while on vacation; therefore, I will not book this hotel in the future. read more

I had the opportunity to stay at the Carte Hotel in downtown San Diego and it was perfect for a staycation. In walking distance from some great eateries. The lobby was really nice and had this smell that I loved everytime we came and went. The bar was beautiful and had green accents that made it pop. The elevator was a bit tricky trying to get back to the lobby, it's like 3 lobby options and we kept ending up in the parking garage or the laundry floor but eventually the lobby aha. We were able to leave our bags at the front desk until check in at 3pm. Our room was really nice, it was all windows and the view was stunning during the day and at night. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was really nice with adjustable light settings. The room itself had great lighting, two large lights in between the beds, with two smaller colored reading lights (night lights) and then a light on the desk. We didn't utilize the TV. The hotel had a bunch of cool areas like a meeting room (book beforehand) a bar with a view, gym, pool, etc. the valet service was convenient! You can text them, they are quick to response and they even assist with your luggage. Definitely enjoyed the stay and hospitality. read more

We have been staying at Carte exclusively on our trips to San Diego since it opened. At first, it was amazing. Fresh, clean, modern. It is falling apart in the years since. We just got home from spending another week there, and I'm really thinking about finding a different hotel in SD next time. The rooms are getting dingy. Yes, they're spacious. But the carpets are stained. The ceiling had...splashes of copper/red stuff. The shower had mildew and gunk along the bottom. The refrigerators haven't worked in any room we've stayed in in over a year and we've called to get replacements that also didn't work. The beds are beaten and need to be replaced. On one day, I had to try three different floors to find an ice machine that actually had ice. The hotel on this stay decided to not have the a/c on in the common areas. It was disgustingly hot. Their mercado has nothing normal to drink. The restaurant/bar charge $7 + tax for 12 oz of soft drinks! Absolutely insane. The lobby women's room wasn't cleaned in hours and was dirty and smelly. I tried the family restroom instead, but it had no soap for that amount of time. I still like the location and the staff is mostly helpful and pleasant. But for a "boutique" hotel, they need to fix a lot of stuff that's getting rundown. I hope they put some effort into it or my next stay will be my last. read more

We chose the Carte Hotel for its close proximity to places we were visiting during this trip to San Diego -- Little Italy and Balboa Park. We used the Hilton app for Check-In/Out and the digital key for room/elevator access. Aside from the restaurant, we had minimal interactions with the hotel staff, but we received text messages daily to make sure we were enjoying our stay or to communicate any issues. We stayed in a 2-queen bed standard room with city view on the 10th floor. It was clean, bright, modern and spacious. It was stocked nicely and everything worked well (although we found it a bit odd that lotion was not part of the complimentary toiletries set-up). We really liked that the ice/water stations are on every floor, right next to the elevators. Parking is valet only at $65/day. We chose a self-park garage just a short walk away at $23/day. When we asked the said it's part of a package or we need to reserve for a fee. Really? The small cabanas $200? Space is really limited in the pool area. This hotel was not a good choice for us. With so many hotels in the area, I'm sure we could have done better. The room had a shower that was constantly dripping. This was clearly not a new problem it was already dripping when we arrived, and I'm sure we were not the first guests to complain about it. They also gave us an accessible room designed for someone using a wheelchair, which we did not request and did not appreciate. When I called and asked to be moved to a different room, I was told that it was the only room available. Obviously, if the hotel is fully booked even with these conditions, they probably feel no reason to improve. On a positive note: they have really great gym. read more

This was our third time staying at this hotel, which makes this review especially disappointing because our previous two stays were great. We chose to come back to celebrate my 30th birthday with our family, expecting the same great experience, but unfortunately this stay was the complete opposite. We spent nearly $1,900 for a four-night stay, and the issues started before we even got to our room. We arrived at check-in time (4:00 pm), but our room wasn't ready, which didn't make sense because the app prompted me to check in 24 hours before and even allowed me to select the specific room number. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the rooftop pool. The pool and jacuzzi were advertised as heated, but neither was the day we visited. We had invited friends to celebrate with us, so this was a major disappointment. Another issue during our stay was when the hotel's elevators went out of service. My husband was stranded on the 16th floor with our young children because he couldn't safely carry a stroller down that many flights of stairs. Our last night, housekeeping entered our room after my husband had already told the employee not to come in. I was completely nude in the shower with my baby when the employee walked in. The room also had several maintenance issues, including a strong plumbing odor in the bathroom and noticeable water damage to the furniture near the refrigerator. To add to the disappointment, the hotel had told my husband they would provide a birthday amenity for my 30th birthday, but nothing was ever delivered. While that may seem like a small detail compared to everything else, it was another promise that wasn't kept. I will say that the one manager (Jordan) I communicated with was polite, and he ultimately awarded us 140,000 Hilton Honors points. However, after documenting my remaining issues, Hilton never specifically acknowledged the housekeeping privacy incident or answered whether it had been reported or investigated. Considering that was the most serious event of our stay, I found it disappointing. Unfortunately, this visit fell far below the standard we had come to expect. Right when you walk in you're greeted with two very nice client service reps that are ready and eager to help. They have the best attitude and are very friendly and nice. We recently stayed at this hotel for a two-night getaway, mostly to spend time in Little Italy, and we greatly enjoyed our stay! The hotel is very convenient to Little Italy--within easy walking distance. The room was clean and modern, and the price isn't bad considering what other hotels of even lesser quality go for in the area. We had a king-bed room with a city view. (Be aware that this property no longer has any bay-view rooms due to another building that was recently built next door to the west, so now the rooms with the best views are the city-view rooms.) The room's best features are the comfortable bed and the spacious bathroom, but the entire room was clean and modern. We had no problem with the elevators, of which there are four. There was construction while we there, much to our surprise, since we never received notice about it in advance of our stay. Nonetheless, we had no issues with construction noise. The biggest inconvenience was simply that the lobby restaurant and bar area was...well...under construction, but you can tell that they are moving swiftly with work, and I don't expect it to be "torn up" for too much longer. Due to the construction, breakfast was being served in temporary locations. The first morning, it was in the wine-tasting room, and everything went smoothly. The second morning, it was at the rooftop restaurant, and service was slow because they had to transport all of the breakfast orders from the kitchen on the lower level all the way up to the roof. Nonetheless, we were not seriously inconvenienced, and the food quality is excellent at this hotel. While I'd rather not be charged the resort fee, it did include a $15 daily restaurant credit, so we definitely made use of that to get our money's worth. We didn't park a car at the hotel, but if you do, it is definitely on the pricey side. We didn't visit the magnificent fitness center either, but this is clearly the hotel to choose if you want a good one. You won't find a better one in the area based on everything I've seen and read online. Service was helpful and friendly, though we ran into an issue when trying to select our room ahead of time via the app. We kept receiving an error message and had to wait until we arrived at the hotel to check in. When I called from home about this problem, no one was able to solve it, and I kept getting transferred back and forth between the front desk and central reservations. Nonetheless, because the hotel wasn't fully booked, we had no problem securing a nice room once we arrived. City noise wasn't really an issue during our stay. You can hear some street noise from the rooms, even where we were on the 14th floor, but it is not obnoxious, and we had no trouble at all sleeping. The air conditioning worked very well. All in all, we would easily stay here again. The minor problems we encountered are mostly temporary issues, and we doubt they will be issues again in the future. If you'd like to stay near Little Italy or in the Columbia district, I definitely recommend you choose this hotel. read more

It's a nice hotel. If you are Diamond Hilton member, you won't get upgraded to a suite. They "upgraded.. hahahaha" me to a higher level room on the 14th floor. You do get two bottles of water in the room (I think that was for everyone). They also give you a $15 credit. With the normal resort fee credit of $15, that gave me a $30 to spend on a Happy Hour burger and soda in the rooftop bar. The room was cold and that heater was limited to 76 degrees. I texted the person and they had a repair guy to unlock it so it would go to 80 degrees. I did use the hot tub which was big. The pool was also big. I regret I didn't use the gym facilities. It was an actual gym with seperate entrance. The people coming out were like all models. They did check my luggage as the next day I was going to Tijuana for lunch. read more

Stayed here for just under a week while in San Diego for a work trip. I'm used to a very soft, plush bed - this is the opposite of that. Was like sleeping on concrete. If you're into that - you'll love sleeping here. The pillows felt like down alternative - very comfortable. The first night, the television would not turn off. When you press the power button, the cable box turned off but not the tv so we had a purple glow in the room all night. Additionally, the air conditioner is motion activated. So while you're asleep and not moving around the air conditioner turns off. Our room got to a toasty 75°. We notified the front desk of these couple issues and Jordan (who I assume was a manager) had both issues fixed the same day. He said they would override the air conditioner to allow it to run continuously. However, they fixed the tv a little too well and it would no longer turn on at all. The phone in the room was also not working upon check in. Had a decent view of the city from the room. Rooftop bar has ok food but great views and friendly staff. The pool area is very small. They offer valet parking for $70/day. They also offer beach chair rentals - which we absolutely took full advantage of. Great perk of staying here. read more

This is a 4.5-star property. We stayed here around Thanksgiving in 2024 and really enjoyed their space. Dad was in town and we had not done a road trip in a long time with him. Also, he had not been to SD that often. "Good times"... This is a modern contemporary high-rise and oddly not very tall compared with the giants surrounding it. The rooftop bar is floor 16 I believe. During the holidays I could observe Christmas trees in high-rise condos that appeared to be 24 floors or more. There is a huge TV with NCAA basketball coverage on ESPN playing. The city views are very nice here. We had drinks at the bar. Dad and I enjoyed a Mango cart beer while the wife had a nice, sweet mojito. STAFF are very helpful, friendly and efficient here. I recommend ordering your vehicle through valet in advance as they seemed to get backed up plus, I do not believe the lot is too close. And they seem to have ample staff in this area. I still did not try their fitness center. I am not sure if it is on-site or nearby. The beds feel MEDIUM-FIRM and are quite nice. We had a blue velvet chair in the corner. The TV is large and in charge. The large showers are very visually appealing and roomy. We like that they are close to Little Italy. read more

I just want to say that Jordan at the front desk saved us! We booked our stay through the Chase Portal, and it was cancelled without us knowing, but Jordan was able to reinstate our reservation, and was able to get us late check out too. The hotel overall is nice. The rooms and bathrooms are nice too. And the hotel itself was clean. The elevators have a new system that I had not seen before, which made it easy to get a ride without having to wait too long. Valet is a little confusing where you have to park. It took a long time one day for the valet to get our car. Loved the gym access to this hotel. Pool area with spa and beautiful lounge area with lounge chairs and greenery surrounding the pool. The suite we had had one king bed and a sofa bed. The sofa bed in living room was not comfortable at all but we used the sofa instead. The kitchen was beautiful however no regular coffee pods came stocked. Kitchen had a little fridge. I recently spent a few days here on business. It's a nice hotel in a central part of downtown San Diego and located near Little Italy so there are several bars/ restaurants within walking distance. Overall the conditions of the hotel and the room was decent and the room had an appealing aesthetic. There were some signs of wear, but it was fairly minor. You can read other reviews for more details on the hotel, but a few items of concern. The first is the location of the TV which is right over the desk meaning unless you can ignore the big screen, it's hard to work with the TV right in your face when it is on. The second issue is that when leaving my laptop open, it blocked the sensor so the remote did not function. This meant either pushing the laptop to the side or closing the cover. In my opinion, this is not a good design. The other issue related to the bed which seemed a little low but perhaps that just me. One final suggestion is not to bother to pay for a "city view". I was upgraded due to status but my view overlooked a parking lot so certainly not worth it. Other than that, the staff was pleasant, and I had no issue. I did not have a car but it's my understanding parking is very pricy at $70 a day. Better to get a Lyft instead. read more

We came down for breakfast and they asked what we would like to drink: I asked for hot chocolate and my partner asked for a chai latte. They didn't have either one... so he got a regular hazelnut latte and I got an apple juice. They brought the latte to him without the hazelnut sweetener mixed into it cause they forgot what he said. So they brought it in a small counter so he can mix it himself. wtf? Then we ordered our food, I got the chilaquiles with the chorizo and the lime crema on the side.. My partner got the Eggs Benedict. My chorizo looked and tasted like ground beef. The crema was all over my food and they forgot the cotija cheese on the food. I had to ask them for it. It was also very bland. I'm like "We're so close to the border shouldn't your food taste a lil more authentic?" especially for the $75 total for the breakfast??? The hollandaise sauce was practically a mayonnaise because they forgot to add the lemon to it, the eggs were also under done. The best part of his dish were the potatoes. Overall horrible breakfast. The rooms were nice too, very aesthetically pleasing and modern but the beds were HARD and so were the pillows. We both woke up with pain. The room temp was also not cool enough. The lowest it goes was 68F which isn't very cool. Would I come back? No. read more

The room was ok. AC, fridge, lights, will all turn off if there's not constant movement in the room. Meaning at night when you're sleeping the AC shuts off completely and it's sooo hot! I brought my fake wedding rings to travel with and guess what, I couldn't find them on the table I left them at. I should have put them away but totally forgot and was hoping I'd find them when I got back but nope. Thank GOD they were fake rings, but still that was very very disrespectful of housekeeping or whoever went into our room to steal them. Lastly, when we asked for extra towels housekeeping asked me "why" as if I needed to explain the reason for more towels. Something felt very off about our stay. Only positive is the maintenance guy who came to fix our AC and the fridge. The fridge wasn't cold enough to keep breast milk cold. Would not stay again. read more

Where do I begin? We stayed here for a few days. If you're driving, there's only street parking available, but it's at your own risk. Otherwise, the hotel offers valet parking for a hefty $70 per night. I wish they would make that clear upfront. The area isn't too bad, especially since it's within walking distance to many places. The first room they gave us looked rundown and had a foul smell. It's definitely not family-friendly. During our stay, there were events every day. The rooftop supposedly opens Thursday through Sunday, or so they claimed. When we went upstairs to check it out, we were turned away and told there was a private event. It was really loud, and the elevators had a bad smell. The rooms aren't terrible, but the pillows were disappointing. The biggest letdown was the showers -- every time we used one, water would spill out and create a mess. The gym was crowded every day, with limited machines and space. The jacuzzi was out of service. As for the view, it was pretty disappointing since we were looking across an apartment building where privacy isn't respected. The staff was helpful, but given the over $300 a night we paid, it didn't quite match expectations. read more

Overall pretty good 1 night stay here at the Carte! Things to know first is there is only valet parking that costs $65 and a destination fee of $30. They will give you a $15 credit per night to use at their restaurants and bar. I ended up finding cheaper parking a couple blocks away and would advise to do that as well. Having to pay almost $100 for these fees was ridiculous to me. The king bedroom was perfect size for my boyfriend and I, with a view of the downtown skyline. Room and bathroom was clean and modern. My only complaint about the room was I could not connect to the Wifi using the password that they wrote on my hotel key and thus, could not connect to cast my shows on their TV. Service was friendly everywhere; when I called to ask a few questions before check in, during the check in and check out process, and any interaction with an employee. You have access to the Fit Athletic gym right next door, which was awesome. I enjoyed the sauna and steam rooms. There's also a pool but looks like it doesn't get too much sun being in between the tall skyscrapers. They have a restaurant downstairs by concierge and a rooftop bar, where you can use your $15 credit, but no complimentary breakfast or anything like that. I appreciated the white wine we got for free for my birthday :) The room came with two free refillable waters and the refill station is easy to find, right by the elevators. The valet gentleman were always nice and accommodating when we went to pull up to drop off or pick up our luggage. One other concern was that I didn't get my receipt for my stay until I had to call a few days later and have them email it to me. With a couple of misses and mostly hits, we were pretty satisfied with our stay. read more

The hotel staff are very friendly/ great customer service ! But for the price to stay there and the added fees it wasn't worth it. It's an area as well that is somewhat deserted. Not a lot of options of things to do out there. You will definitely need a car or have to uber/lyft to get to see more of San Diego! The 65 dollars a night and the 30 dollars a day added fee for parking/ like visitor traveler fee or something a night is the main reason I wouldn't book there again. It smells really bad outside in that area (maybe a sewer issue in that area) ...the rooftop and the bathroom is prob the best thing about this hotel. The food in the lobby is expensive and the snacks are only chips and chocolate bars and water. The room itself isn't bad either but definitely overpriced .also the shower doors don't close all the way so water leaks and you have to put towels all over thr floor read more

The location is in the center of downtown, little Italy, the water front, and all the destinations you can dream up. My daughter and I spend a yearly vacation in SD. With lots of choices in SD, The Carté is our home away from home. We had such a good time we forgot to take pics! But we wanted to mention two individuals who made our stay both comfortable and memorable. Isabella and Jordan are true hospitality ambassadors. From their welcoming personality to how they remembered us on every walk by, our stay rivals and surpasses any luxury brand hotel stay. In fact, the level of service they provided often times can't be found at top tier properties. Isabella is a pro. Infact my daughter and I thought she was management! Jordan must have eyes on his forehead because he said hi to us as he was working with a customer looking down at the computer! We did take one photo, the breakfast which was fantastic. The people are super friendly and the perk of access to Fit Gym is great! There are single serve Keurig coffee pots in the room, but the coffee they provide is not great quality at all. My husband and I had a terrible experience at a different hotel and we decided to move hotels and found this one. Customer service was so good, the girls in the front were super helpful, I had my two dogs with me and they were welcomed as well. I had no problems whatsoever, the pool looks gorgeous at night. Carte Hotel San Diego ALL AREAS ARE REVIEWED 1-5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Reservations-5-Super easy with the Hilton app. Parking-5-Valet parking only. Pretty expensive if your not a guest, but only $15 if your staying. Valet area is small in front of hotel and can only accommodate a few cars at a time. Recommend texting down to valet with ticket number before you head down to save time. Room-5- pretty nice, looks recently updated. Mattress/pillows-5- Hilton mattresses and pillows all the way; slept fantastic. Elevator speed/availability-5- Very cool elevator system. Central panel in foyer to call elevator, no buttons in actual elevator. Gym/pool-n/a unfortunately didn't get to use. This gym is a privately operated gym with a pretty big membership, I saw lots of folks showing up in the morning to use the gym. Plan your workout accordingly. Also it closes pretty early. Restaurant-3- There are two restaurants here, one in the lobby and one in the roof; I planned a meeting in the roof. I was given the info from the front desk in the phone regarding how to view the menu and how/where to call. I left several messages to set up reservations for the roof top only to find out when I showed up that the roof-top restaurant isn't open on Mondays (it was Monday). We ended up eating in the lobby at Watercolors which wasn't bad, same menu but no view and very loud. Food was basic. Staff-5- Everyone was very pleasant and willing to answer any questions. Price-4- Not bad for a downtown "hip" hotel. Comparably priced locally. Overall-4- Enjoyed my stay and will stay there again. Shout out-Nothing specific stood out. read more

It is my second time staying at The Carte Hotel in San Diego. What I can say is that the distance from the airport to the hotel is close, so it's super convenient from a location standpoint. It is also a very short walk from Little Italy so the Saturday market and the IT restaurants are just a hop skip and a jump away. The interiors and amenities are fantastic. The things I don't love is that the digital key never works! Why have the feature on the Hilton app if you can't use it. I checked in online and had my digital key ready and after 5 attempts at my room door, it said please go to the front desk. The staff said "those digital keys never work here"!!! Hmmm maybe that can be fixed. The other thing that is annoying is the $30 destination credit. While it sounds like a perk, if you're on the go and have a packed schedule it's often difficult to use it as there are limited places and hours to use if you are a silver status member. I didn't use my credit one day and it's a "use it or lose it" policy. read more

Carte is definitely one of the nicer Hilton Hotels in SD! I loved the decor and cleanliness. The staff was really friendly. The food options were not bad. There's definitely better food outside the hotel, but it was all still good. I LOVED the full gym access! It had all the workout equipment you can ask for and a steam/sauna room. The view on the top floor restaurant was nice during golden hour. I don't like having to pay the resort fee, but you do get to use it towards the restaurant food and shop. Valet service was very friendly and efficient. By the time I texted the number and headed downstairs my car was ready. I don't know if I'd come back since I wouldn't fully use the $45 each day since I rather enjoy the local restaurants in little Italy. However, it was a good stay overall! read more

My girls and I stayed for three nights for a girls trip middle of August. The room was lovely with lots of space and very clean. The hotel staff were very nice and professional. We were walking distance to various dining in Little Italy and a few minutes drive from the gaslamp area. We spent most of our time in gaslamp. Hotel is about average for ~$225 a night. Hotel is clean. Rooms are really small and are packed full of way too much furniture. I rolled over one night and bashed my head on the corner of the bedside table because it's basically hanging over the bed. Mattress was meh. There's nowhere to store your suitcase. You can barely walk around. Worst of all is the power situation. The only outlets near the bed are below the center of the mattress. There are 0 on the sides of the bed. This is beyond ridiculous. Asked the front desk if there was daily housekeeping and they said yes, but I didn't get any service. Food prices are also next level gouging. 6oz of plain milk was over $7. Overnight parking is $60 when there's ample free street parking nearby. Again the room rate is fine so this was average to subpar, but the rooms are extremely uncomfortable so I wouldn't stay here again. read more

Great location: walking distance from the Midway as well as Little Italy and right off the highway. Very basic hotel with no view. Small pool and though it is on a rooftop, it is nestled in with no view. The rooftop cocktail lounge is fairly nice with an OK view and great ambience, decent food (amazing burger & great cocktails), but the service was terrible.The fact that you get access to the gym and all their classes would make this a 5 star experience. read more

3 stars might seem harsh for this Hilton property, but it's reasonable (and I am usually too). Let's start with the good: - Gym is AMAZING - all the equipment is brand spanking new, and decor is great. Just come here at an off time or else all the people in SD working out will be here the same time as you - Location is super central - can't get more central than Little Italy - Rooftop bar is a nice touch, though the rooftop view and space could have been better - The room itself was nice when I was stayed there Ok, here's the not so good: - The staff were just so indifferent; they didn't give a shit about their job or the patrons like me, and you could just tell - I ordered a drink at the rooftop bar thinking it was at a discounted HH price (because it was during their happy hour); and, when I ordered and mentioned happy hour to the server, she realized she got me the regular menu and then ended up getting me the happy hour menu. Long story short, my drink wasn't on the happy hour menu, and I wish the server had said something initially (she didn't) because why else would I go to the bar during happy hour hours? - Despite being a Diamond honors member, I didn't get a room upgrade. Part of this is related to the shitty don't-give-a-shit attitude employee. She just said there was a higher-floored room available but that the view was worse than the original room. I wish she tried harder looking for another room, but oh well. I don't know whether it was because it was the weekend before Inauguration Day that the staff's mood was so sour, but honestly it's the one and only thing I'm going to remember when SD's Carte Hotel comes to mind.
