As an event planner the Westin is my #1 go to hotel for any conferences, meetings or roundtables I am looking to book. The location is perfect - right in the heart f downtown Edmonton, with the mall, bars and restaurants literally steps away. Their guestrooms are beautiful and I spacious with great views of the city. I've never had a complaint in regards to their catering. All the food has always been up the standards. Finally the staff (especially the sales manager Tammy) goes above and beyond for me every. single. time! The service I receive from the westin during all aspects of my events (pre, during and after) is one of the biggest reasons I try not to go anywhere else if I can help it read more

Can't say "yay I'm a fan" -- Haven't stayed anywhere else around town yet. Rooms are cozy and clean. Fairly modern and nothing really big to complain about. My fridge wasn't working, that was annoying. Parking and Valet price difference wasn't much for the convenience, I'm sure everyone charges for parking. Breakfast could use some greasing up on the pricing, although I think this is catering to per diem travelers. read more

Best Value !!! i likethe Westin! Beautiful rooms for an even better price! I always go here for a girls night or pj party and i am never disappointed! It has gone up in price and i miss the 24hr pool! Also the front desk ppl can be rude sometimes. Other than that you probably won't find a nicer hotel for this great a price in yegdt. I recently had the chance to get a pretty good look at the meeting facilities. There are three rooms on the first floor (that I saw), 4 or 5 more on the second floor plus a ballroom. The meeting rooms vary in size, a meeting of any size could be accomadated. The staff were very friendly. There's a water station in front of the elevators, but it's not just regular water. It's chilled and infused with oranges and limes. I was impressed. read more

Nice, modern room with wood accents. Thick beds, nice pillows. Chair was stained. Nice desk area with power outlets. Fridge and large flat screen in room. Coffee was Starbucks in room. No outlet handy at bedside for Cpap machine or your own electronics. I had to move the bed to access the outlet behind it. I could find no outlets on the adjoining walls. Poor lighting in the rest room; when moving close to mirror, the lights are now behind, providing no light on the face. Dark in the shower. Shower water pressure was decent. Ordered the burger at their Share restaurant. It was very impressive. Thick burger with fresh bun, large leaf of lettuce and 3 med slices of tomato. Good fries and a spear of fried pickle was a treat! Great location in downtown across from the library and close to shopping and restaurants. Very nice hotel staff. Young man who checked in was nice and the young lady who checked closed me out (2March15 2120hrs) was very personable and quite charming. read more

First and foremost - there aren't many good options for hotel stays in Edmonton, in general. This Westin has decent food, the rooms are ok and the staff are helpful. The only incident I had was around the valet. The valet had given my car to another guest, in where they actually left with the vehicle. I was provided the other guests vehicle. The cars were identical - they clearly made a mistake. The rectified the situation, however, it did impact my business morning, while I dealt with the issue. Brianne Ward, the Guest Services Manager, felt terrible, and did everything she could to ensure I left a satisfied customer. So, despite not liking any other the hotels in Edmonton, I would probably stay here again because the front desk staff handled the situation well. That's actually what I expect in Westin service, so on that front, I was satisfied. read more

Worst hotel experience of my entire life. There were blood stains on my bed. There was trash in the bathroom. The hotel staff was rude when I brought these issues to their attention. 100% not worth the money. In addition when trying to contact them to receive a partial refund afterwards the management was rude, they left me on hold three separate times for 25 minutes and refunded me nothing. I have been to the Westin for several work seminars and events over the years. It has a great central location downtown with easy access by transit. The event and conference rooms are decent, but nothing special. I have enjoyed the breakfast items which have included croissants, pastries, fruit, and adorable yogurt cups. They serve Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea. Always delighted to check out an event at the Westin! read more

Service attendant: very friendly, predicts needs accurately. Very service oriented. Decor: pale grey colors throughout. Old. Room: standard. Costs associated for Internet. Pool: Pool very warm. Sauna is dry. No hot tub. Restaurant: Did not eat in. Checkout: As usual, no personal interaction required, there, not applicable. Overall, 2.5 stars. Given excessive charges for parking and Internet, as well as tired appearance, I would expect more from Westin. Thank you. read more

This hotel falls short on expectations given the price point. A beautiful high-end property plagued with issues the Management apparently cannot or refuses to adequately rectify, resulting in a below average hotel experience. No soap, shampoo or conditioner in the bathroom. There is absolutely no excuse for the cleaning staff to forget THREE mandatory items in any room. No easy access AC sockets for cell phone and laptop charging - had to crawl under a desk to find them, most lights must be individually operated, no master light controls. Bathroom vanity lights missing, instead, two tiny lights over your head used, resulting in hard shadows on your face. Wi-Fi access $10 per day - it has been years since I seen a hotel charge for Internet access. TV signal heavily pixelated and many channels were unwatchable. On the second day, I realized they did not vacuum the room, nor make the bed, nor empty the waste basket. They also did not refresh the room coffee and condiments, no soap, shampoo or conditioner for the following day, etc. After calling the front desk, they indicated that I accepted the Green option for a $5 a night credit in their restaurant/bar. It was originally explained that they would not clean the sheets and towels, however, they neglected to mention anything about the elimination of the cleaning service. The practice appears more about saving money for the hotel than helping to save the environment - it does not provide the minimal expected level of service to guests. At check out, they apologized and mentioned the internet was actually free for my room, yet after entering my room number on their website, it still listed the $10/night option. I ended up with over $150 in additional data charges on my cell phone since my carrier is outside the country - thanks Westin! On the positive side, the breakfasts were excellent, but pricey. They do have underground parking for $29/night which is very convenient, albeit, one can park across the street at the Library for a fraction of the cost. That said, this hotel really pushed many of my frustration buttons, resulting in a poor overall experience. Staff is very nice and friendly, but appear poorly trained and are not 100% knowledgeable. If you are a business traveler, I would recommend staying elsewhere. read more

I was staying at the Westin during my recent and first visit to Edmonton. The hotel is in a convenient downtown location, but the rooms are honestly pretty tired. The staff was very welcoming and quickly got me checked in...and even upgraded me to a corner suite. Luckily, this hotel has the same amazing Westin Heavenly Bed and a great shower because the furnishings definitely need an upgrade. read more

I love the westin chains, and have stayed in this one two different times. The rooms are decent size and nicely furnished. I always like the in room coffee (Starbucks!) and the shower heads and white tea bath products. I love love love the westin duvets. I also like the free coffee in the lobby daily, as well as the lavender hand towels. The things I don't like, no hot tub? Why have a pool and sauna and no hot tub! No free Internet. If I'm paying over 200 a night I want free wifi! the doors here need to be outfitted with those things that make it so they don't slam, all you hear all the time is slamming doors. The valet, what a nightmare! Self park people self park! Four dollars less and we never onc had our car show up less than 15 minutes after we called for it, busy or slow, one valet guy for 4 it just does not matter. Also, I do not like that they will not stop the newspaper delivery, I don't want a paper and it s a waste of paper. I also dislike that the fridge is a "beverage chiller" and not a fridge. Why have an unstocked mini bar if I can't keep yogurt etc in it? Anyway, I will return here if I hAve to return to Edmonton, but would love free wifi and better valet! :) read more

This company is awful. My poor bird flew out my window and crashed into the Westin. The manager is not helping us at all. We have found our bird and all they have to do is unlock a window door and we could reach him. He's not even 4 feet from the window. I can't believe they are going to let my bird die. read more

The Westin Edmonton is fine. It's a hotel with hotel stuff. The room was sort of clean, although some random long black hairs were in my shower and on the spare bed that I didn't use. And the cleaning crew never bothered to clean them up. Room service was fine, but very over-priced ... and I kept getting some woman's voice mail when I tried calling the restaurant. The main issue I had with this hotel was that the guy at the desk offered me late check-out when i checked in. However, on a whim, I decided to verify my check-out time the night before checking out. Apparently they "don't guarantee late check-out times" even though they're the ones who offered it to me and NO ONE called to tell me that I wasn't checking out late. I was pretty mad about it and had to change my shuttle time (which, fortunately the shuttle company did at the last minute). No one at the hotel seemed to care that they had basically just screwed me over. Elevators are slow. Safe didn't work. I won't stay here again. read more

Checked in as a group to find the air condition is broke. They can give no answer as to when it will be fixed. It's been broke 3 days already. They compensated by $20 vouchers for food and drink and 2 old skunk beers delivered to my room. To be here 4 nights is aweful. Go elsewhere. read more

stayed at the westin this past long weekend, for the price they charge each night I was not impressed! The truck we drove was to big for the under ground parking so we had to park in they pay parking which the hotel charged use 30 dollars a day; it would of been cheaper to just get a parking ticket. Wi Fi was 10 dollars a day to use, most hotels it's free. The only good thing I have to say about this place is the staff they are very helpful. I will not be returning to this hotel. read more

I've stayed at this hotel a couple times. The service is fairly good. One elder worker named "Don" is an excellent example of great service. Not only did he arrange for our bags to be brought up to our room but asked if we needed our ice bucket filled before he left along with being very pleasant. It's the type of service you would expect when you pay $189.00 a night for a standard room with two double beds as no King sized were available. Parking will cost $26 for self parking and $30 for valet parking. For the extra $4.00 the Valet is the way to go. Several people in our company were charged $51.00 which the hotel later reversed without a satisfactory explanation of why we were overcharged in the first place. This is the second year in a row where they made errors in charging our credit cards. Last year they failed to charge our rooms to the proper credit card. Again they had no satisfactory explanation. I really get the feeling that this hotel is somewhat disorganized in their billings and organization with our experience and some previous reviews I've read. I don't think I would pay this full price again to stay here because I just don't think it is worth this elevated price. The buffet breakfast they offer for $25.00 is pretty decent. They have everything from Eggs Benedict, standard eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns to customized omelettes. They also have fruit, yogurt and cereals for the lighter options. Tea, regular coffee, milk and juices are included in this price. I would advise getting there early 8- am to getting the freshest experience. If you stroll in around 10:30-11 it may have been sitting for quite a while and not the freshest as you would expect. The service in the restaurant is pretty good as well. read more

I have to just let everyone at Westin know I was working an event last night and the staff was the kindest most helpful group of employees I have come across in years of being in a service industry. When I asked for directions not only did I get a awesome smile and a answer, I was escorted to where I needed to go, introduced to anyone relevant with what I needed, and always asked if there was anything else that they could help with. Stayed at this hotel for the first time recently for a 'Girl's night out' and the rooms were very clean, beds comfortable and room service was very quick. Although the ice machine on our floor was broken, the kitchen was very apologetic and supplied our room with copious amounts of ice to meet our needs. The front end staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. love the fact that this hotel has an express check out and plenty of underground parking. The location of this hotel was ideal for what we needed it for. We would stay here again. read more

I am always a bit surprise the quality differences you get from a Westin. Some are really cool and nice, others bad, and some mediocre. The one in Edmonton is somewhere between average to nice. We were on the 29th floor and had a great view across the plaza and the awesome art museum building in the back. The bed was rather on the firm side (which I absolutely love) and this together made it "nice". The bathrooms are a bit dated which would make it "mediocre". On the up side, I did find the check-in staff to be very courteous and actually follow up with me on a request I placed. It would be good to have a real concierge desk and not let the parking/valet staff fulfill that role. As mentioned above, not great, but not bad either. Can I give them 3.5 starts instead ..... ? read more

We stay at the Westin frequently when coming through Edmonton. The rooms are large and spacious and clean and they have great amenities. The only downside I have ever experienced here is the paid wifi. We stay at many hotels across the board and most offer wifi complimentary and I feel that's how it should be when staying at nicer hotels especially. The service is pretty fast. I had requested a crib for my two year old and they presented a decent sized sturdy metal crib with a sweet white ruffled bed skirt and baby mat for the floor underneath the crib. A nice touch to cater to babies. The room did not have a fridge so that was a pitfall as there are usually things we like to refrigerate such as baby formula, drinks, water, takeout, etc. Overall the hotel is nice. The beds are very comfortable and the pillows are always very plush and inviting! The hotel is conveniently located right in the heart of downtown so you're moments away from restaurants and shops. We didn't check out the pool this visit but we normally do when we stay at hotels with pools so I can't comment about that. The restaurant features a breakfast buffet in the morning which is pretty normal as far as breakfast buffets go (eggs, potatoes, omelette station, waffles, etc). Starbucks is the featured coffee and Tazo teas in your rooms which goes for all SPG group hotels we have stayed with. A pretty good stay while in Edmonton and usually a great value for the stay. read more

We loved the Westin, it's right downtown, rooms were plush super-clean and a good size. Some rooms have fabulous views, others not so much. As it happened we did not have a great view, but it didn't matter to us. I was inspired to join Yelp and make a review by the remarkable warmth and helpfulness of the staff, especially Jackkia- who saved me during a credit card crisis and then threw in an upgrade. The Westin is a pretty nice hotel, but that comes with a pricetag. We stayed here because it was the venue for my cousin's wedding reception. The ballroom was gorgeous, like something out of a fairytale, so if you're looking for a wedding venue, the Westin is a superb choice. Our room was nice but unexceptional, so I don't necessarily think it's worth the $200/night pricetag (why not stay at the Matrix?). In the morning, I erroneously assumed breakfast was included (can you blame me at that price?) but it's actually $25/person for the buffet :x Spare yourself and go to De Dutch down the street instead. As a Starwood Preferred Guest member, I like staying at the Westin chain of hotels to get my points and redeeming them for perks. At this stay I just opted for bonus points -- because I didn't want to spend any points to get wifi, which you otherwise have to pay for. Why are you cheaping out on the wifi, Westin? I'd definitely stay here again, but I'll walk across the street to the Second Cup for breakfast & wifi. read more

This Hotel is Excellent! The service is consistently Awesome! The food is Delicious and there are plenty of Healthy choices. The rooms are very clean. My girl friend is germaphobic and normally struggles in hotels and she was very comfortable here. They also allow dogs. read more

I booked the Westin in Edmonton months in advance for July 11 to July 14, 2019 at a special rate for an event at Rogers Place. The hotel was full to the limit for that event and the only place I could park was a few blocks away at a rate of $20.00 per day. Friends I knew were staying at hotels in the area for the same event. The rates for their hotels were about the same as mine except they had the convenience of close or underground parking, continental breakfast included and a much shorter walking distance to the venue and a pool in their hotel for later use. The Westin had none of this but I was content enough for the few days I would be there. The problem was that on July 14 at about 7 PM when I returned to my room the key did not work. It turned out that I misunderstood my stay. I was thinking I booked for Thurs. Fri. Sat. and Sun., July 11 to the 14th, 4 days. But they said I was booked for 4 days and 3 nights. They said my things were still in the room, but I would have to pay a premium of over 2 1/2 times my original rate. When I explained it was an honest misunderstanding on my part, they reduced my rate to over 1 1/2 times my original rate. Considering that I was staying on the 17th floor and on the days before, the elevators were always packed full of guests and it sometimes stopped at nearly every floor to pick someone up that couldn't possibly get on, and of course, it was then a long time-consuming trip up and down,it was clear the hotel was very full. Now it was Sunday evening and the elevator went up and down with no stops and no one around. It seemed that the hotel was mostly empty of guests and I was the only one on my floor. When I looked out the window on the 17th floor I could see my car a few blocks away parked at a sister hotel in what was a mostly empty parking lot and I was stuck paying a premium in a mostly empty hotel. The Westin could have easily honored the original rate for the last night but refused. The Westin left me with a bad taste about them and in a sour mood that evening. My impression of the Weston (and their affiliate hotels) is that it is very tight-fisted, a place I will never stay at again. read more

Stayed several times as part of a group. Staff is nice and catering department is easy to deal with. But overall hotel is not great. Charged $26 for parking spots you may not be able to access, below the building. So you have to walk a couple of blocks to an overflow lot. May not seem like a big deal until you have various bags and suitcases to move. Air conditioning was out during last visit. Okay, that happens but they said they had to bring parts in from Minnesota. Really, Minnesota? Not HVAC companies in Edmonton. Resto and lounge are okay and very expensive. I am part of a group that meets here so I will go where they put us. But i think we can do better read more

My wife and I have been coming to the Westin for years. At least 5-6 times a year in fact. We enjoy the downtown location and nearby Sherlock Holmes pub. We are from Fort Mcmurray and the Westin has been our home away from home countless times. When we had to flee our city with 90,000 other evacuees we booked a room at the Westin expecting we would be treated with respect and compassion. On the contrary. Not so much as a "how are you doing? Or is there anything we can do for you? No deal on the room, no deal on our meals and no sympathy whatsoever. When we checked out I informed the front desk that we would never be back and his answer was only "ok". You sure learn who your friends are when you are in a time of need. We were absolutely disgusted by our treatment especially since we have been treated so well by so many other businesses who poured their hearts out to us in a very difficult time. When we arrived a hour past check in and our room was not ready. At first I was irrated but they sent us over to lounge to have a free drink and it was not to long of a wait. My wife and I loved the downtown vibe and friendly staff. However When the elevator opened there was a stong cigarette smoke smell which was gross especially cause we specifically asked for non smoking floor. Our room was clean and the smell seemed to be only in hallway but was very gross. The newly renovated room was nice but they didn't renovate the bathroom and it was a very shallow tub, my wife was not happy cause she was hoping to soak in a nice jet tub seeing how they had no hot tub either. I can sleep anywhere but my wife was up most of the night cause the heat register kept clicking and the fan was not blowing very hot air. Not a great experience but not awful. I would stay again however my wife says next time we need a hotel downtown we will be trying somewhere else. read more
