We recently stayed on a Saturday Night and were very impressed with the staff and the room. Parking was a snap with plenty of free spots on two sides of the hotel. Beds were comfortable and the noise level was very low in the hotel. Water pressure in the shower was adequate and the water stayed hot. Downstairs there is a restaurant and a bar that serves decent food with friendly folks and bartenders. One cool thing you can do is rent for $5 a complete massage kit that you can take to your room. Complete with leg compression wraps, this massage ensemble is no joke. On high, this massager will beat every sore muscle out of you and let you sleep like a winter bear. read more

We used Westin for our wedding hotel blocks back in November. They were good communicators and were helpful the weekend of the wedding. They distributed our hotel bags to our guests and made sure our after party had an appropriate amount of food. Stayed here on business for a week and had a great visit. Everyone was helpful and nice. Check-in was quick and everyone at the desk was always helpful. We had 1 issue with the small room refrigerator and they replaced it in about an hour. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The water was hot and we had a view of the Blue Rocks stadium. There is a restaurant onsite which is great and a few others within walking distance. There is no pool available and staff had no concrete options to help us figure out an alternative at all. We booked this hotel via Marriott app for a family vacation with two kids about 2 months out. Our kids (3 and 6) were really looking forward to the pool, especially after several days of humidity in Philadelphia. We had stayed here a few years ago when it first opened so felt confident in the amenities. The night before check in, I found an obscure review that said the pool was closed for repairs. First, we are Marriott Platinum Elite and this hotel has yet to honor our upgrade. We have stayed here at least four times and our stays are usually in the middle of the week. Even calling ahead of time, staff at the front desk give us the same excuses. There are only eleven suites and a wedding party is coming in so none are available for your upgrade. So, we end up with a handicapped or end room. Rooms are extremely dated and in dire need of being refurbished. Lighting is dim and charging electronic devices can be a challenge. Chair in room is small and very uncomfortable. Room has a stale smell. Hallways are freezing probably trying to camouflage the stale air. Housekeeping is lax. We had no soap in our shower dispenser. Overall, the staff was nice and friendly. They did their best with what they had available. The hotel is in an excellent location and the restaurant serves a very nice breakfast for only $12. We've tried the Marriott in town but that wasn't much better than the Westin. At least parking is free at the Westin. Hope they soon refurbish this hotel because it could easily be a gem. read more

The hotel is in a great location and is attractive, clean and comfortable. They lost a star for 2 reasons. 1. The restaurant was closed because of a wedding. 2. When I went to breakfast in the morning, I had to wait to be seated, then was seated at a high counter because all the low tables were taken. I have a disability and the low tables are better for me. I sat for about 10 minutes before someone asked me if I had been helped. After I replied in the negative, she said she would get someone. I waited about 5-10 minutes longer and when I saw a larger group who arrived after me get service I walked out. read more

I stayed overnight at the Westin as a member of a wedding party and enjoyed the experience. They have an enormous free parking lot which connects the Chase Center to the hotel, making it very convenient to pop outside in between the wedding ceremony and the reception to gather my belongings and check in. The front desk staff were efficient, warm, and eager to help at all hours. The lobby bar was absolutely packed after midnight, but the bartenders had everything running like clockwork. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. The hotel is modern, tastefully decorated, and very large; there were five wedding parties staying that night and you would have hardly known it except for the celebrations in the bar. The guest floors were wonderfully quiet. My room was clean, very spacious, and comfortable. I had a view of the Blue Rocks stadium, although that was easily shut out with the complete blackout curtains. My biggest gripe about most hotels are the bathrooms, but this one was very nice, well lit, and the shower was wonderful. It's expensive, but certainly worth it after a long day of celebrating. read more

There are ample restaurant and bar options in easy walking distance, and the hotel boasts its own bar and restaurant. Bar service was good, despite it being busy. The Moscow Mule was excellent. My husband was happy with the temp and carbonation of his beer. The food was meh, but perfectly edible. Other reviewers have given their food lots of good reviews, so I'm willing to say maybe we were an outlier. The room was comfortable. It could use an update, but it was clean, comfortable, and maintained. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom was a descent size and had great counter space and lighting. We only heard other hotel patrons once, so I think the rooms are pretty well noise insulated, too! The reason the hotel lost a star is because the shower was yucky. It was clean and all, but holy mold, Batman! The grout was grosssss. I showered and all, but ... eek. So, check the shower when you get in the room and complain if you get a yucky shower! Checked in at the last moment on a Saturday on Labor Day weekend. No problem to get a room even though the online channel said they were sold out. Room was exceptional - even some industrial/steampunk decor. Everything is new clean and well maintained. To explore the Riverfront, this is your only option. Bed is super comfortable and even the pillows are great. The ONLY minor complaint Lisa the noisy AC stopping and starting all night. There was kind of rattle in there somewhere. (Room 804 if they want to check it out.) Otherwise a perfect one night stay. Staff was friendly at the front desk. Breakfast buffet ($15)was pricey and just meh. But hotel buffets are usually nothing special. Location can't be beat to check out the bars and restaurants. Give it a couple more years and this area will be even better. I had an issue with the fridge not working first night...maintenance arrived and reset it, had properly cool r by morning. Same issue second night...called again for maintenance but they never showed. Turns out the maintenance guy failed to show up for work that night. I ended up using the ice bucket every night to keep beverages cold. Clothing iron never got past warm. All that said, I would stay again when I'm the area. We had an excellent stay here over Memorial Day weekend for a friend's wedding. The hotel is located near the up and coming waterfront area with access to several restaurants. We typically stay in higher-end hotels so this was a bit of a change for us, but everything was clean and comfortable and we were very pleased with the overall experience. Check-in went smoothly and everyone was super kind to our two dogs. Pets stay for free at the Westin as long as you sign a waiver, so dog lovers keep that in mind! They upgraded us to a corner suite, giving our pups tons of space to roam around during our stay. Both days we ordered a full room service breakfast, and I was amazed at the quality and portion sizes for the price. The bacon and hash browns arrived actually crispy and the pastries were enormous and clearly baked fresh. They also slice and toast your breakfast bread on the grill and include plenty of bottled hot sauce, jams, and ketchup on the side. I'm a details person, so this was greatly appreciated. Given that this was such a pleasant stay, my boyfriend and I both agree that we will seek out a Westin in the future for weddings and other short trips. We still love our boutique hotels, but the food, service, and clean accommodations really won us over. Well done! read more

My stay started nicely. As someone who has worked in hotels for several years, I note efficient check-ins and service. The young man who checked me in, while a bit rehearsed, was also very thorough and quick. I was tired and ready for a nap and his check-in process allowed me to quickly get upstairs. I had a small issue with the television that, according to the engineer couldn't be rectified because of a severe internet issue going on in the hotel. I didn't have WiFi my entire stay. I asked for, and received a 2pm checkout. Yay! I ordered a small brunch for myself and used this time to relax and unwind. As I was packing up the last of my things, the hotel phone rang, then my cell phone rang, then someone from staff banged on my door. My car had been broken into in the parking lot. I hurriedly threw everything in my bag and ran downstairs to three waiting police officers and a staff member from the hotel. I spoke with them for 40 minutes or so getting my police report created, having to call the car rental company (it was a company rental). I also had to call my corporate office to report it. It was just a LOT coming at me at one time. The staff member taped a garbage bag to my back window and I drove (sitting on tiny shards of glass) to the Philadelphia airport to exchange my rental. I had work items (literally boxes of paper collateral) in my trunk and had to get a new rental, unload one car, load the other. Call my corporate office again. My head was spinning. Just as I finished picking up the new rental, I pulled to the side of the road to adjust the Bluetooth and to gather myself. Both my work phone and my personal phone start ringing. It was Jennifer from the hotel, in a very snarky tone, lamenting me for leaving without closing out my final room service. Well, sorry, Jennifer, my corporate car was broken into and I was kinda worried about that. She had no empathy for my frazzled state. Married recently and used the Westin as our hotel. Between the constant emails and multiple visits, the staff were absolutely amazing. Early check-in, free shuttle, late checkout, complimentary suite, etc etc etc. The extra care and attention they showed us and our guests will absolutely make us repeat customers. The hotel itself looks brand new, everything is clean and tidy. The mattresses were probably one of the nicest I've slept on, supportive but soft too. Parking was a bit tough because the hotel is connected to a convention center, just means that you might have to park in the back sections of the huge parking lot. All in all for the prices paid for rooms and suites, it's going to be tough staying at any other hotel. read more

An overnight stay without too much time to explore the "resort" aspect of the property, yet the check in was expedient & friendly. The lobby & lounge had a fresh interior design with a nice flow. The late night eatery options was a nice benefit. The room was staged with a state of the art HDTV, mini appliances & an Art Deco wall design. Bathroom & standing shower was designed to the max, well done SPG. Exceptionally cleaned. Of course the Heavenly Bed line was up to par, that's never in questioned....& slept like a baby. At the end of the day it's fine. If you feel like being in wilmington near the waterfront this is a good option. I just found that other SPG hotels in the area offered bigger rooms, more options for bonus starpoints, and just as friendly service. I find for this hotel you really pay for the surrounding area as there is actually stuff to do down near the waterfront. The river rock kitchen is a great food option (coming from someone who normally avoids hotel dining). I would stay here again if my cap got increased for the area but normally it was hard to find a rate in range. If coming to the area for personal and not business, Sheraton Wilmington South and Sheraton Downtown are fine. read more

Conveniently located right off the highway, this was a surprisingly upscale hotel for the price we paid. It didn't have the level of perfection some "luxury" brands will have (some aged items in the bathroom for instance) - but it was clean, mostly modern, and had a wonderful bathrobe in the bathroom. We were able to walk up the water way the mile to the start of a race we were running in town. We took advantage of the River Rock downstairs the night before, then walked out for icecream (okay... ice cream was first) in the adjacent river front storefront area. There is something wonderful about checking in to a place, and not having to drive. The westin fitness initiative is also something I'm a huge fan of. You can ask the front desk staff for local running routes, and even rent new balance shoes (not sure how I feel about that, but its a cool concept if you're in a pinch). read more

Looking for cleanliness? My room with a king bed was spacious and spotless. Customer service? You'll feel like family here. Great food? I wish my conference went longer just to eat from their buffet. The restaurant is pretty great as well (gluten free options are available!!). Location? I didn't really feel the need to leave the hotel (or want to after a long day), but you're right by the Riverfront or a short shuttle ride from some great local attractions. I stayed at the Westin Wilmington, where I attended a four-day conference. ISM is wise for choosing to partner with this Starwood property. From a late check-in (while the election came to an end), all the way to having room service deliver a burger and fries to my lazy ass, I felt like I was always taken care of. For example, as expected, I ran out of toothpaste the night I arrived. There is a little convenience store with an ATM hidden to the right side of the check-in desk. I was about to buy a tube of toothpaste, but Noemi handed me several toothpaste packets she had at the desk, enough to last me through the week. How generous of her! There is a 24-hour fitness center which always stocks water bottles and towels. There are two flat/incline benches and a dumbbell rack with weights ranging from 1lb to 50lbs. There is also a cable machine with different grips and a pullup bar for a light workout. If you need to get your power cleans and squats in, you can go to the Planet Fitness right across the street. I left my lifting gear at home, so I did not end up going there. They provide a free shuttle which will take you anywhere within a 3-mile radius of the hotel. No need to take an Uber if you're not in a rush. -------------------- I have friends who previously worked in the hotel/service industry, so I have a decent understanding of how much stress employees are constantly under. Knowing this, I have a greater appreciation of how hard they strive to make the customer experience as enjoyable as possible. Talk to all the employees you come across. They are people too, you know. They also deserve that tip for going out of their way to help you, so don't be a cheap-o. Talking to Noemi & Rhea at the front desk is like talking to your bubbly aunties who just want to catch up with you and see what you've been doing since they last saw you 2 years ago. Never a dull moment with them! Nevan took me out in the shuttle to grab some food at El Diablo Burritos. He gave me a brief tour of the Trolley Square area while also talking about life and our personal journies. Keep on going, brother. We'll make it out alright. Another day, I asked if I could take the shuttle to a local barbershop (Rudeboy Special is great btw). Rhea, like other employees, has to wear several hats. She drove me herself and even picked me up when I was ready to head back to the hotel. I got to know her and her daily challenges as well. It's amazing how positive she always seems to be. Salamat po, ate! To my surprise, Nevan, Rhea, and Noemi all gave me hugs before I left for the airport. I've never had that kind of connection with hotel staff before. I'm just saying, if Starwood properties need to have employee training, these three would be your ideal candidates. I'm glad that ISM conferences are held at this hotel because it will be such a pleasure to see these faces again. The hotel has some positives.. Staff was friendly most of the time. Beds were comfortable although the pillows certainly could have used an upgrade. Room was quiet and HVAC worked fine. But when we arrived and went to our floor, there were dirty towels, food and wastebaskets littering the halls. The bellman was obviously embarrassed. In the bathroom, the mirror backing was all pulled away, the shower head leaked constantly and the sink did not drain. The window looked out on a dreary roof and air-conditioning unit and the outside window was covered with some kind of plastic that for some reason had attracted lots of huge spiders. They were outside, not inside, but still a shock when you opened the curtains. Long waits for the elevators. There is not much in this development. It looks like shopping and restaurants were planned a one point but few remain. We were happy to depart after one night. read more

The Westin is without a doubt the best hotel in Wilmington. I spent 5 months there for business, spending most of my weeks at the hotel, and had a lovely experience. It's located close to the city and by a number of restaurants, has a decent gym, good lobby space for working at night, and a healthy room service menu/restaurant for those nights when you're too lazy to go out to dinner. The rooms are also pretty standard for a Westin, but very clean since the hotel is only a few years old. The staff is also so warm and welcoming. After my first few weeks the front desk and room service staff remembered me and greeted me like a family member. One day I wasn't feeling great and spent the day at the hotel instead of the office and the hostess at the restaurant realized it was odd for me to be there at that time and sent soup to my room. If you need somewhere to stay in Wilmington - go for the Westin! read more
