We had quick seating for our large party due to many available tables. The experience went downhill from there. The waiter was slow to get the drink orders, and the bartender doesn't know his/her cocktail basics. Finally the server took our food orders after we had discussed just paying for the drinks and eating elsewhere. We should have followed through with that idea. ​I really wanted to love Wharf 850. The location right on the water in Niceville is fantastic, and the views are hard to beat. I'd heard great things about this spot being a local go-to several years ago, so I was looking forward to a solid meal with our large group. ​Unfortunately, the experience just didn't live up to the reputation. It was exceptionally quiet--perhaps because it's the off-season--but even with the lack of a crowd, the food and service were underwhelming across the board. ​A lot of us ordered the burgers, and they were just "okay" at best. I went for the one topped with pulled pork, thinking it would be a highlight, but it really didn't work. The flavors didn't mesh, and it was a structural mess--the whole thing just broke apart and became a struggle to eat. Across our entire large group, I don't think anyone was super impressed with their meal. ​The service didn't help matters, either. We ordered several cocktails, and they were consistently either late or just plain wrong. Since it wasn't a very busy night, there wasn't really a clear reason for the lapse in attention. ​It's a shame because the setting is beautiful, but between the hit-or-miss drinks and the lackluster food, the whole night felt like it missed the mark. read more

Hard to get his attention for help, beer out of tap was warm, took a sip then asked him to trade out for bottle beer.still charged $6+ for it. I wish I lived close enough to visit this place regularly. My husband got two lunch specials (Tues-Sat, 11am-3pm) to go for us and I can 100% guarantee that you will not find a better special anywhere in the whole state of Florida! I have never come across a better chicken fried steak, although the mashed potatoes and gravy could've been more savory (but I won't hold that against them). We sauntered in here randomly on a Friday afternoon. We were greeted by a very pleasant staffer who directed us to the dining area upstairs. It was totally unexpected. The views and ambiance were serene, making an already beautiful day more beautiful and more peaceful! I ordered the crab claws. They didn't disappoint. My mother got a grilled Romaine salad. It was unique... in the past, I've only ever had grilled romaine as a Ceasar salad, which is delectable. They chose what seemed to a balsamic vinaigrette. The lettuce was tasty. The view here is second to none and our server handled a table of almost 20 like a champion. My bronzed chicken was more blackened but that's okay. Nice spot on a late Sunday evening arrival! The wait staff was amazing with recommendations and places to try as the restaurant was closed on Monday and Tuesday! The atmosphere and views outside were fantastic as I grew up on a boat and spent a lot of time in marinas! Very cool venue. I started with an ice cold beer and I went here because I was craving redfish. My waiter gave me two other dishes to consider which was pretty awesome and made the decision even harder. Ordered the blackened redfish served over green beans with cheese grits on the side. The fish was perfectly cooked and flaky and I loved the seasoning. The cheese grits were great and I know that many folks aren't a fan of grits at all. Was stuffed and would have come back to try other dishes unfortunately they weren't open. read more

Even though the place had few patrons,we had a 20-30 minute wait. Okay, we sat at the bar. We ordered an appetizer, that took some time to get. A little chintzy, but okay. My food came, it was warm at best, not hot. The fish was a very small piece and dry. Not much flavor either. The sides were okay, but nothing tasted remarkable. Our waitress didn't bother to come back and see if we needed anything, unless she was bringing something to the table. Overall, I didn't feel my dinner was worth 40+ dollars. Won't EVER come back. Located down a backside road that runs through a neighborhood. Great location directly on the bay where you can enjoy outdoor breeze or sit inside. The biggest juiciest shrimp (shrimp cocktail) I have seen served at an establishment. Service was great - very knowledgeable of the menu, even better adult beverages selection. Ate there yesterday afternoon, took over a hour to get our food, no refill on our drinks. The fries were over seasoned, the burger was dry and like biting into a rubber sole. The chicken was dry also. The only good part was the appetizer which took 45 minutes to get. Two had the shrimp Benedict, we had Shrimp and Grits, and the Down South Bowl. All of the food was really tasty. Service was fast and friendly. I came here for lunch with a friend. Lots of choices to choose from. We shared the appetizer of fried pickles. Once our waitress put it in it came out pretty quick. Def a good place to have luncheon going aways. The view on the deck was amazing. Inside there was plenty of room. I did go in the bathroom which was really clean. I went with the pan fried mahi off the blue plate special. We did a split and we got that extra plate right away. You can tell that it was pan fried. I feel like there was to much butter used and the batter didn't have that much of flavoring. I requested tartar sauce which helped. The piece of mahi my friend had was dry and my piece was too wet. Mashed potatoes and green beans were good. We got cake slices to go. Between the two of us the total bill was $54 and that was 2 teas, main meal, appetizer, and 2 slices of cake. The other reviews are mixed, so I was not sure what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The view is beautiful and worth a visit just for that. We came in at 6, and we're seated shortly. It is graduation week, so we knew it could be packed. Our waitress was very friendly, patient, and on her game. She was taking care of tables all over the restaurant, and we were never without. We had the fried green tomatoes with crab, crab stuffed mushrooms, a ceasar salad with grilled fish, smoked wings, blackened red snapper, and grilled shrimp plate. The portions are huge, and the food was seasoned well. We really enjoyed everything and I couldn't have been more pleased with our waitress. One of our best seafood meals during our week on the gulf coast. The biggest juiciest shrimp and the most delicious raw oysters we had. An Air Force sergeant from Eglin Air Force base recommended this restaurant, when I asked him "where can we get good seafood" and he was spot-on with his recommendation. The service here was fast and efficient, the food was extremely tasty (shrimp tacos, fried shrimp and shrimp pasta Alfredo) and the outside dining deck had a spectacular view of the boats and the water. I started in the bar with amazing bartenders Tyler & Christian were a delight. The drinks were great! Reasonably priced & a strong pour. They recommended the oysters and I had a 1/2 dozen. Amazing! I was seated for dinner by myself. My server, Annika, was absolutely a doll! She was very attentive & had excellent suggestions regarding my menu questions. I had the crab cake with delicious grits.
