I stopped in here for the first time in probably 40 years. I had a burger and fries and needless to say it was exceptional. Absolutely wonderful food. Every time I have every here the food has been excellently prepared. My absolute favorite is the fried mushrooms with ranch dressing. You really need to try those. Tonight I had the lemon pepper tilapia with a baked potato and a Caesar salad. Everything tasted delicious. Everyone else in my table is very happy with their food also. Four months ago we stopped to eat here and was told after we were seated that they didn't have a liquor license. Ok no problem, we love the food so we'll stay. We wanted to start with an appetizer - nope out of the 3 appetizers we wanted. Ok so none of those. Let's just order food. We got some song and dance about what happened. I've always heard great things about the Wharf & wanted to give it a try. Sadly, I was very disappointed. The service was terrible. We waited for an hour for our food & when it finally arrived, the fries were cold & not crisp at all. The chicken fingers were also cold & the burger as well. They discounted our ticket, but it doesn't make up for the fact that I still paid $35 for cold food that was hardly eaten. read more

Best burger my husband has had in a long time, the bacon and bleu. The Reuben I had was very good. good My mom, dad and sister split a burger and an appetizer platter for their meal with chicken livers (tasty for them) potato skins and onion rings. All very good. Not fancy a place but clean. Reasonably priced as well. Rest of the menu is creatively a couple steps above typical pub grub. The place has been around for 40 plus years. Has a neat round fireplace in the middle and a beer garden out back ( too hot to take advantage of today). My family and I have been going to the Wharf for years and this was a very disappointing experience. Immediately when we walked in, everyone said it was cold in there. We asked our server if there was any way to turn it up and she said it was cold and that was how the manager kept it. We were sitting next to the thermostat and it was at 64 DEGREES. That's chilly, folks. The appetizers were great, per usual. My dad had a raw chicken liver, but everything else was cooked well and tasted great. My dad, grandfather, and boyfriend all ordered walleye dinner and none of them finished it. They said it was slimy and smelled fishy. My brother had a BLT with basically just bacon and a sliver of tomato. My grandmother had a taco salad and said it basically tasted like old frying oil. The server didn't even bother to ask why 4 out of the 6 people didn't eat their food, I'm going to assume she knows how poor the quality is now. We all mutually agreed to not come back for a long time. read more

Went to a retirement party there in there outside area. It was nice and clean and the waiter did an excellent job on getting everyone food order right and keeping our glasses full! I just got a Cobb salad but it was good and I heard no complaints on anything any one got. Only one negative I wish they would have told us the gratuity was added. This town has a gig restaurant tax so all I looked at was the meal and drink prices. And so did most of us I later found out. So it was a really good night for our waiter! In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Decatur. Everytime I eat here, my food is always prepared quickly and correctly. The servers are friendly and courteous, not to mention efficient. Good hole in the wall sort of place. I had the tilapia and it didn't disappoint. Be aware that this place looks very sketchy from the outside (you'll feel like you're just walking into a shed or warehouse or something) but it's got a nice interior.
