If you do then do yourself a favor and check out the Olympic Music Festival. I truly *heart* this musical getaway. I've driven past the signs to the Olympic Music Festival many times in the past on my way to Hood Canal and we've finally stopped by. My regret is that we didn't do this sooner. This is such a wonderful activity to do in the summer time. Pack a picnic, a bottle of wine, some carrots (for the donkeys) and head over to Hood Canal. The experience of listening to beautiful music in the shades of the apple trees surrounded by mountains and open air...HEAVENLY (and I'm not even exaggerating). Beethoven sounded even better when I'm breathing in fresh country air and gazing up at blue sky and mountains...seriously! If I could write poetry, this place would surely be an inspiration. GO! NOW! or the next weekend (open on weekends at 2pm). They're playing all summer until Labor Day. Northshore Thrift Store is a celebratory shop that showcases the seasons and products with professional merchandising letting the customer enjoy an elegant atmosphere to enjoy products at reasonable practices. Special sales are scheduled regularly so that people can enjoy more for their dollars. When I took my granddaughter and daughter they were both quite pleased with the finds. Having the opportunity to shop this close to the holidays, we all also enjoyed music, donuts and popcorn. Way to go Northshore.

Thrift stores are becoming more like consignment shops with more collectable and high end items. My problem is when they overcharge for them. My know here is the same I have at most thrift shops they are 95% housewares and woman's clothing. As a man, I donate items that no longer fit or are just not my style and I assume I am not alone, that said, it's hard for me to find a selection of menswear at most thrift stores. This isn't my neighborhood, so it's less than likely I'll be back, but that said despite a friendly staff, this place is just not catering to men.

What a gem! My daughter and I went the morning of the first day they opened after the Covid-19…read moreclosure. We had the place to ourselves and spent an enjoyable hour taking in the surroundings and interpretive signs. The signs identify as well as speak of the traditional usage of the various plants by NW tribes along with the legends of the Coast Salish. There are a wealth of habitats and cultural perspectives represented here. Truly a haven for nature and humanity. The Cedar Cathedral has forever changed the way I view PNW forests. The gift shop is small but rich in literature and local art. The volunteers we met throughout the center were friendly and personally invested in the conservation work of the foundation. Admission is reasonable and a membership option is available for those who wish to further support Adopt A Stream. Easy access to the center from the ferry and freeway. Convenient parking available free of charge. The only public restroom is a portable one in the neighboring park. There are picnic tables outside the gate.

If you're thrifting your way across Washington on a Sunday, it can be slim pickings in the small…read moretowns where most of the thrift stores are religious and/or close super-early. But once you make it to a town big enough to have a Goodwill, you know you're in luck! The Marysville Goodwill is pretty big and has the usual departments, all decently sized, including a fairly large housewares selection. It seems pretty tidy and organized overall, although there were a few areas with stuff on the floor. Likewise, it seems pretty clean and doesn't have thrift-store smell inside. This store belongs to the Seattle Goodwill family, so anything you buy here can be returned to a Seattle store per the usual return/exchange policy. Good news if you're buying for another person or have severe road-trip fatigue and can't even deal with the fitting room right then. They also follow the same colored-tag discount schedule as the regular Seattle stores. The best part about this store, however, may be the HUGE restrooms! No skimpy single-seaters here -- there's a long row of stalls, clean and nicely maintained, and you don't have to go and pester an employee for a bathroom key. Road trippers, take note!

Imagination activated the moment you step in. There's so much that grabs even an adult's attention…read morewhen you walk into the doors that it is hard to focus on paying admission to get in. We lots of discipline, we got our tickets and entered the incredible children's museum. You walk into a woodland wonderland and it only gets better from there. We are pretty partial to our home museum in Cincinnati and haven't found a better one but this comes very close. Theres so many interactive areas. There is a treehouse down toward the right when you walk in along with a small town. A walk on airplane that allows kids to work with parcels, a train engine you can walk into with model train set behind. A water station as well as stairs to the outdoor portion with an extensive jungle gym, musical instruments, mini golf, and an excavation site with dinosaurs! They had science exhibits for older kids and younger kids alike. A toddler area as well. You could keep any kid toddler to about 10 years of age entertained for hours. Parking isn't free unless you can snag a coveted spot in front but it's not too pricey. Admission is $22 a person. They have last half hour free during summer which is nice. Staff are dressed in purple and nothing but kind and friendly. There is a cafe at the top (well, a "food truck" theme) and tables and benches to eat. Looked like you could pack your own food. Also looked like you could host birthday parties and field trips. All in all, impressive children's museum. We can't wait to come back!
