So my bestie today brought cookies home, and they were absolutely Devine!! I have had a lot of cookies in my life but none as soft and buttery and absolutely delicious. First of all, I applaud the efforts of the bakers, and investors for believing in these young entrepreneurs. Although, the establishment shows heart and attention to the physical plant, the souls of mature professionals are yet to be discovered. My thoughts here they still lack the experienced taste buds of true master bakers. The novelty of having young female bakers will wear out soon. Recommendation: 1: Better customer service- morning coffee is where America begins the day, we want to be greeted with a smile and prompt service, maybe a small conversation. All three of the workers looked as if they had been up all night and were forced to work the opening shift. 2:Quality ingredients = Quality products. The Pastries were bland and dry . This bakery just opened up in Smithtown. This morning I went with my mom and they ran out of rolls by 9:45am. Then we got a slice of crumb cake and it was raw inside. When my mom and step father asked for a refund, the man behind the counter gave us a bit of a clueless look. Growing pains? So it's Saturday night and we walked here for a gelato. It's 8 pm and it's closed! All the lights on; note saying that they are preparing for father's day tomorrow. Three strikes... As someone who has worked in the baking business for about 7 years now, I can say that my experience here was a huge disappointment. The presentation/layout of the store was pretty nice. Unfortunately, that's the only positive comment I can give. There is a cake for sale called "The Blackest Cake." This is problematic because this name has racist connotations and could offend someone. Not good for business. Highly advise changing it. The dairy free/gluten free cupcakes looked as if my 5-year old cousin decorated them; none of them looked uniform. There were many different types of cakes in the showcase, however, the ones in the front looked very old. You can tell because the icing was cracking and drying out while the fruit (which came from a jar) was bleeding through the icing. The cakes that were behind the ones in the front also did not look uniform. My family and I bought a bunch of items that are typical of an "italian" bakery. The tiramisu was dry while the cream in it tasted sour. It was not made how a "true italian-style" tiramisu should be made. They should be made with lady fingers soaked in espresso, not yellow cake mix. The cannoli cream had no flavor at all and tasted like something you could buy at Costco for much cheaper. What alarmed me is that the tiramisu and cannoli's were not refrigerated in the showcase either, which means that they are not being made with marscapone or ricotta cheese. The french macaroon did not even look like one. It was too large and should not "smush" when you press your finger into it. It had no flavor to it either. The carrot cake tasted like every other bakery's. It is a spice cake mix that comes from a box. The cream cheese icing had no flavor to it and was made with shortening instead of real butter (the typical, cheap way out). We tried a few of the "sand" cookies. My family and I call the butter cookies that because they taste and crumble like sand. These cookies taste like every other bakery's as well. The icing on the black & white cookie looked so sloppily done. None of them in the case looked the same. That cookie tasted exactly like the "sand" cookies. Black & white cookies must be moist and have an almost spongy texture to them. This means that all of the cookies are coming from the same mix that you can buy from the store. The rainbow cookies were also ridiculously dry. You should not be able to pull the layers apart so easily. They are considered to be a moist cookie. They also tasted like they added almond extract instead of using almond paste, which makes a huge difference in the end. My friend bought the crumb cake. We agreed that it tasted like a yellow cake with some crumbs that they decided to put on top at the last minute. Cinnamon should be mixed into the cake for flavor. The rainbow cookie gelato was okay, but I would rather pay more for better gelato at Uncle Giuseppe's. My friend tried the nutella flavor gelato, and said that it had no flavor at all and just tasted like ice. Unfortunately, after tasting everything, we threw all of our stuff in the garbage. So basically, Amanda (the "owner"), is using cheap mixes from the store, which is why the cakes, icings, and cookies all taste the same and not something worth paying for a second time. Either she is using terrible recipes or is taking the cheap way out. I am aware that she is known for her milkshakes, but you can't sustain a business in Smithtown by just selling that. I have worked with people who have graduated from Johnson and Wales, and they literally did not know how to do anything. Amanda clearly needs more experience by working under someone in their bakery for several years first. Amanda (excuse me, her parents, rather) dropped a lot of money into this business. Unfortunately, if things don't change, it will most certainly close within the year. read more

Purchased the Rainbow Cookie Crumb cake for the holidays. (And gifted some to family friends as well) I would recommend ordering that cake ahead of time, so you are guaranteed freshness. And make sure you wrap it and refrigerate if there is any leftover. Tasty with a nice cup of espresso. read more

The bakery is very cute. The rainbow cookie gelato is very good. The black and white cookies were sloppily iced and were crumbling in the display case. The cakes on display were cracked and the fruit was bleeding into the icing. The frosted brownies are incredibly rich and very delicious. I will go back to try other items on the menu. read more

Amanda went out of her way to make a special order cake for my wife's birthday. Three other bakeries couldn't make it. Amanda said no problem and made an outrageous pecan butter crunch cake. My favorite bakery ...I drive a half hour for the most delicious sweets and best service! The workers behind the counter are so friendly. They're sugar cookies are beyond delicious. The Whisk is my go to bakery! I came here the day before Easter to get rainbow crumb cake and the egg bread. Both were great (as usual) and my whole family enjoyed them. Also, the two girls working behind the counter around 1 pm were nice and very helpful. The owner is young and friendly which is another reason why I love to support this business! So happy to have this bakery open especially since 2 bakeries recently closed. My children love going to the bakery for milkshakes and ice cream- the ice cream cakes are very fresh and are actual cake with ice cream in between. The chocolate mousse cake was a big hit at a family get together. Some of our other favorite things are the brownies and linzer tarts. Not sure why someone would review a bakery in the first few days and be upset they ran out of product, seems silly. The bakery is always crowded and I'm happy to see them do well! read more

Tried for the first time this morning, been hearing all the great reviews and figured time to try it out. The place is really nicely decorated and super clean. Service was excellent, didn't rush me and answered all my questions in a kind manner. Even the other customers were so friendly and happy to share their opinions on different items. I had to try the rainbow crumb cake, it was delicious and my expectations were met. I also brought home an iced cinnamon bun and apple crumb muffin for family to try. I had an iced coffee which was very good. Each pastry was large so easy to split with someone. The only thing that was questionable was the apple crumb muffin, couldn't taste any apple just crumb, but still moist and delicious. We will be back for sure. Dry. Dry. Dry. The food was dry and were not uniform, when I went there I got macaroons one was one size one was 10 times smaller. The actual product was dry I also had gotten some of there mini cheesecake which had a fruit topping which (not exaggerating here I'm still not sure how it's possible) was dry, along with the cheesecake, eclair, strawberry shortcake, and donuts. Yes, they were all dry. Although the overall taste was, bad. Expect the macaroons which, were dry but tasted good, everything else not so much I feel that this is because she's fresh out of college, maybe wait a little and be prepared next time. My family and I love The Whisk! There are many great bakeries in the Smithtown area, but The Whisk brings a fresh new take on 'classic' bakery items. Not to mention, the decor is beautiful and the café style seating is a major plus. Who wouldn't want to sip on a cappuccino while eating a giant slice of cake?! We've been to The Whisk a number of times, and have tried an assortment of items in an effort to work our way down the list. Recently, we had the edible cookie dough cake and it was AMAZING! Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of bakery goods, and would pick boxed brownies/cake over the real stuff any day of the week - but The Whisk changed that! The cakes have the perfect amount of sweetness and the frosted brownies are delicious. The Whisk sells a variety of gluten free and sugar free items, and carries unique treats such as ice cream cupcakes, 'dirt' cups, whoopie pies, and mega milkshakes! They also sell the cutest mini treats for the little ones in your life. The staff is always kind and patient, especially with my indecisive family who is usually purchasing multiple different items. The portions are huge and everything is reasonably priced. The Whisk also regularly offers $1 promotions on Saturdays - selling items such as donuts, cookies or brownies for just $1! I would highly recommend this bakery to anyone looking to switch it up, grab coffee with friends, or have a date night! read more

Stopped by the whisk and can honestly say everything about this place was amazing! Traditional Italian pastries, breakfast treats, and so much more displayed beautifully! I tried one of there cupcakes and it was so delicious my only regret was not ordering more. Not only was the food that I had good but the environment was nostalgic and modern at the same time (not to mention clean!!) Decided to try out the Whisk to get some rainbow cookies for my son's birthday and I have to say, as someone who bakes these on holidays, theirs were amazing! Tasted like homemade; soft, no fake extract taste, just deliciousness! The filling was plentiful and the cake tasty. I, of course, had to taste a few other items, like the Oreo cheesecake slice and large cream puff. Both were also excellent! I was also happy to find the prices reasonable. The amount of effort the bakers have put into the whisk is incredible, but I think some extra learning experience is needed. I would recommend having a professional baker come in for a week or 2, in order to critique the baked goods and help improve them. A had a rainbow cookie and a cupcake. The rainbow cookie was dry and the cupcake was a bit dry as well. The icing was good. Please have a professional come critique and improve the baked goods. I really wanted to love this new bakery and our family has been there numerous times but sadly I have made the decision to return back to the other local bakery we normally patronize. More often times than not the staff are unfriendly and non engaging. The pastries and cakes are just ok. I do love that there are lattes and ice cream. But honestly it's the attitude of some of the staff that makes me not want to return. Some really just act like they don't want to be there. No smile. No eye contact. Quick one worded answers. I hope the owner works this out. The people who are working the counter are the face of the business. This is an adorably decorated bakery. Unfortunately ,that is the last positive comment for The Whisk Bakery. The customer service was poor and the food was worse. We purchased a few items as there were 5 of us. We threw everything in the garbage including 4 terribly bitter, way too strong coffees. The tiramisu had no taste and was so dry you could barely swallow it. The carrot cake had no flavor and the icing tasted like lard that I actually spit the bite into a napkin. Unknowing of our experience my sister purchased a chocolate cake with chocolate icing for a co-workers birthday the next day. Everyone at her office said it had no flavor and the frosting tasted like wax. I would not recommend this bakery. read more
