Ordered a hot dog with onions and cheese. The hot dog was on the grill for 3 minutes, the onions were big pieces and thrown on the grill. If you are looking for courteous and friendly service, avoid this establishment. The hot dogs were good and the seating is outside in a good location however, the young lady who waited on us seemed to not want to be there. She was short and annoyed with answering questions about the different types of hotdogs they served, perhaps because she didn't know the difference, and made a disgusted like sound to her coworker when she turned to get a hotdog to show us what they looked like. We wanted a quick bite to eat while walking in Alex Bay and decided a hot dog would be just what we needed. The hot dogs served at this place were a horrible greasy mess. They put the bun on the grill as some places do, but I don't think their grill has been cleaned in years. The buns were covered with black charred bits and were just a greasy as the hot dogs. This review has nothing to do with the ice cream. It has to do with the TERRIBLE attitude of the young girl in sunglasses working at the window. My son has nut allergies so naturally we have to ask questions before getting him any treat. This girl was less than patient with my questions, flatly informed me that they don't practice any sort of cross contamination control and generally gave the impression that we were wasting her time. Perhaps the ONLY redeeming quality is that she offered that they have soft serve which would not be subject to this cross contamination. We DID end up ordering ice cream because we were with a large group and I wasn't going to make a scene, but I will caution anyone who has any dietary restrictions... or any questions, in fact, not to bother going to The Whole Scoop. Not sure what is going on with the people working here. But some people need to get it together. The girl taking the order was in another world, half-answering my questions. I tried to order a flurry. The first candy? Nope, they don't have it. The second candy? Nope, they don't have it. Okay, so instead of telling me what they DO have, I have to sit there, blindly choosing. I am writing this review without actually trying the ice cream . This facility doesn't have the best health scores to begin with so not sure what i was expecting . But the ice cream here is from Perry's diary most of their flavors are gluten free and have well listed allergens . We came from the hospital and noticing the ice cream stand I saw it said Perry's and I told my son we would stop as a treat for doing well at the doctors . When we got there they informed me they don't practice any cross contamination control so they can't guarantee any ice cream is gluten free as they scoop from all flavors mixing and break cones in them etc. also informed me they do the same for toppings and the soft serve they don't k ow who makes it or what's in it cause it's not Perry's as listed . I said ok well I guess I'll just get one kiddie in a cup as my son isn't gluten free and and my baby are . I handed them a card and they said sorry no cards only cash there wasn't a sign and so my poor autistic boy started crying and I had to explain why so many places out here don't do well with gluten free or contamination processes and that I would make it up to him. But the lady totally just leaned with her head on hands the whole time taking to us even when I said I couldn't read they allergy list and also same smirk as my boy cried cause this was the third time we had to skip ice cream . Not sure what is wrong with you people writing reviews and wasting your life talking about "your experience". First of all there is no good help these days you have 16 year olds that have no idea what work is so "firing" them doesn't make a difference. also with whoever was waiting 20 mins for A hot dog pull it together you went to an ice cream stand to shove your face. Have you ever looked in the place they have a small grill and one deep fryer they can only do So much at a time. I have had nothing but a Good experience every time I go there and yeah the girls are grumpy but do you feel the heat pouring out of there standing at the window? Props to you girls I think you guys are doing an outstanding job. No grown adult could last 5 minutes in there I know I couldn't. Ps. Absolutely horrible customer service. Went there Aug 6th during the day. After waiting more than 20 minutes for a hot dog and fried dough, I asked the cashier for my money back and she rolled her eyes and asked the cook if my food was coming and he said there was 20 orders before mine (when I ordered they were on order number 38 and I was number 40). She then gave me the food through the window and slammed the window on me and as I walked around the corner to get ketchup I heard her tell the cook I was a bitch. I heard other customers grumbling about the length of time it was taking to get simple food. That's what happens when owners leave their businesses in the hands of punk kids that don't care. Ice cream is excellent but the staff is something out of this world. If I was the owner I would fire every single girl that works there. The rudeness and attitude you wouldn't believe. I was there with my husband today and we ordered ice cream, the girl that took our order caught attitude with me because I wanted to see how big is two scoops before I ordered, only because I was not hungry and didn't know if I could eat two scoops. She said you must pay 1st and I said that's fine my husband can pay for his before I decide on size. She started to slam stuff to get the ice cream for my husband.once when she got his ice cream she brought it to the window and showed it to our faces without saying anything so I decided to go with one scoop. My husband said thank you and she just rolled her eyes. Once when I got mine she just handed it to me without saying anything, wouldn't even look at us. I said nothing either, the next customer came to the window as me and my husband were standing by and she said what do you want, again with the attitude. If you are an owner of this place, please save your shop by firing your staff because the ice cream is great but that girl has to go or she will run your business to the ground. read more
