Brunch review. I may have came with high expectations because so many people had mentioned this place, and it is in such a beautiful location, but we left pretty disappointed. First off, their website is odd. Not much information, quite confusing, sometimes it won't even load (on mobile device), so if you're trying to make a reservation, call them directly. Location, beautiful, along the river, great outdoor seating. I'm sure dinner and sunset is stunning. Good, it was okay. We ordered kids breakfast, huevos rancheros skillet thing, chicken and waffles, biscuit and gravy, and the whisky flight. The huevos ranchero was good, nothing to rave over but good. The chicken and waffles didn't come with syrup at first, I'm sure it was a mistake. The biscuit and gravy... looked amazing, but the biscuits were hard. Like rock hard, and even after sitting in the gravy, no moisture would come back. Haha Service... the lady was so sweet, but she kept forgetting us, she would place hot things right in front of the baby where she would easily grab it. She had a hard time splitting the bill. Ultimately we had to ask another waitress for water refill and splitting our bill. Maybe we will go back... but not in a rush. read more

Not reviewing this place. More like some info. Description of the place is years out of date. Chef Ives hasn't been there in years. Last summer (2024) we went up to find they were not serving meals. Their chef left, they couldn't get servers... I'd check in before you go or ask at their place in Clayton. I was under the impression it's drinks only. read more

A truly unique and lovely dining experience. This place is a must if you come and visit the 1000 Islands and like higher end, farm to table meals. A distillery, restaurant and a few rooms available for rent are located on a gorgeous property. The restaurant is beautiful, the view is to die for and the food and drinks are some of the best NYS has to offer. Everything was perfect and the bartender took good care of us and made wonderful suggestions. The food was well seasoned and had interesting flavor combinations. The menu is simple but the best part of this restaurant is the view. The traditional angus burger was savoring. The chocolate martini was the perfect blend of sweetness and alcohol. Full disclosure, my review is based on service only, as we waited so long to be acknowledged after being told to sit down and chose our own table (took 15 minutes for any server to say anything to us or even just say they would be with us shortly) and then get our drink order (25 minutes) we decided not to order food. Only positive is that the view is beautiful. We came on a Saturday evening and there were only 4 other tables outside. We thought it would be busy and were prepared to wait, but this was ridiculous given the lack of patrons there. One waitress, maybe 2 working. I understand they probably were doing their best, but it was not busy and as I mentioned we sat for 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Drink orders (mind you we ordered draft beers, not the made to order cocktails) took quite some time to come out. Waitress did not offer to take a food order when she dropped off our beer. Would give them another chance but be prepared to sit and wait even during not busy times. read more

Came here with my friends when we were in town a little while ago. We got there a little later on the day on a Sunday, so we were the only ones for a little while in the tasting room. Our server was very nice, and we got to try out a bunch of their local offerings. I ended up getting a bottle of their Empire Cream liquor, while my friends got a few of their whiskeys. The grounds of the distillery were also beautiful, and I imagine that it would be a great place to host a wedding or a special event at as well. read more

Very delicious dinner with impeccable service from start to finish. Easy online reservation system and even ask if you are celebrating a special occasion. Call and double check about your reservation as well as any food allergies. We arrived about 10 minutes early but they sat us right away. We had mentioned in our notes that we were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and not only did the host say something to is, but our waitress did as well as soon as we were seated. She also let us know that to celebrate we could have a glass of Prosecco anytime during our dinner and to just let her know when we wanted to enjoy it. Very nice touch! The food was delicious and I highly recommend the coconut lobster bisque if it still on the menu when you visit! My husband had the steak of the day and it was cooked to his liking as well as the potatoes gratin and sweet potatoes were also delicious. I really enjoyed the salmon with the crab risotto. The sauce over the salmon was delicious! All the meals come with a salad that also come with homemade dressings. Dessert was also delicious and we got the cookie tart with the caramel ice cream. Very good! My husband enjoyed a glass of Malbec and I had a cocktail (the adrift-delicious) as well as the Prosecco! We really enjoyed our whole experience and meal. Can't wait to go back! read more

Recommend you can reserve upstairs private dining for small groups and also recommend that you look at their specials. Room and dinner for two $250. couple. See special for details. Suite 1 is amazing. They have only 2 rooms so they do book up. Food - Prime Rib on Saturday King Cut was excellent. However no reflection on this place go with their Roasted Potatoes vs. French Fries. Roasted Potatoes are amazing. Cooked as ordered medium rare. Leftovers for another dinner. Double Cut Pork Chop - large and very good. I should have gone with this over their Prime Rib. Fish special for spouse was thoroughly enjoyed by her. Steak special was cooked as ordered - medium rare and was fantastic in taste. Wine, Draft & Bottle Beer selection are excellent and plentiful. Cocktails are available as well. I have yet to eat at a restaurant, in the 1,000 islands NY area, that hasn't had incredible water views! Such a lovely region of our country! I'm especially enjoying the low 70's daily high! I started my lunch with a Bourbon Bacon Blues Mary. This creative twist on a traditional Bloody Mary contained local St. Lawrence Spirits Captain Bourbon garnished with two strips of bacon, celery, and blue cheese olives. This Bloody Mary had the right punch of spice and lovely garnishes, and while I enjoyed it, I'm not sure I'd order again. Also, I've discovered that plunging a meaty piece of perfectly cooked bacon into an icy drink does nothing for its flavor - the drink or the bacon! Today I ordered the Mushroom and Arugula Quiche. Again, I enjoyed it but I wouldn't order it again, either. In a quiche crust, it is a blend of Wintonbury Farms (I'm assuming that's local?) shiitake mushrooms, wild mushrooms, arugula, goat cheese and caramelized onions. Frankly, the quiche needed a lot more of the filling as I thought it was sparse. The broccolini had an odd flavor and the petite diced "homefries", as the menu refers to them, were crispy, tasty and uniquely prepared. I visited here on an earlier trip and you simply can't go wrong with this lovely restaurant, and it's scenery of the St. Lawrence River. Their menu changes and offers a sumptuous variety! read more

We decided to take a mini vacation or a night to this place not far from where we live, and we were extremely pleased to have picked the Chateau! Seating is limited and reservations are required, even for the bar, but this allowed a good amount of distance between guests. The view from the spacious bar is impeccable, we watched the sunset over the St. Lawrence as we enjoyed the local spirits mixed with inventive (and also frequently local) ingredients for delicious cocktails. The fried goat cheese was a light but tasty appetizer during our drinks. Currently, the distillery makes multiple varieties of whiskey, vodka, rye, and absinthe with about 90% of their ingredients grown locally. They use fresh water from the St. Lawrence, so the flavor of the spirits is unique and essentially impossible to duplicate. I sampled the whiskeys and rye, and they were all top notch! Dinner was superb, I greatly enjoyed the Wagu beef which was succulent, perfectly cooked, and possibly one of the best pieces of steak I've ever had. The pairings with a potato au gratin and sweet potato slice were excellent, and the sauce provided a complimentary but not overwhelming taste to this exceptional piece of beef. My wife had the duck which looked delicious and, unsurprisingly, was also from New York. A white chocolate torte disappeared quickly after it was brought out for dessert. This paired really well with the in house cream liqueur. We spent the night in an expansive guest room at the Chateau which is filled with 1930's opulence and charm. The Art Deco bathroom was particularly interesting, and the architecture is a fascinating trip into the days of yesteryear. Overall, this was an exceptional trip with wonderful drinks, food, views, and accommodations. Definitely would recommend! read more

A-MA-ZING. From start to finish, from drinks to dessert, there really isn't another word for our first experience here. There is a farm to table culture here with a lot of pride in the food they serve and you can taste it. Pretty much everything is made from scratch, in house. We started at the bar for a couple drinks including the Hunter's cocktail and the Brown Butter Old Fashioned's (my names might be a little off as the menu is down due to the corona shut down so I can't really cheat right now and double check). We also had one more that was good I just can't remember the name of it right now. The Hunter's cocktail was really good but the Old fashioned...YES. Old fashioned's are my drink of choice so I've had many over the years and this one was amazing and memorable The flavor! Smoky, touch of sweetness and the brown butter really takes it to the next level. I'm just blown away by this drink. Side note they have their own distillery which is what is served in their bar. We've visited their tasting room in downtown Clayton and ended up getting a bottle of their bourbon and rye whiskey so we were already a fan of those. We went for date night and the menus were presented with a wax seal which I just loved (I'm totally coming up with a family coat of arms and getting my own wax seal now). Anyway the date deal is on Thursdays (not sure if they do it during tourist season) for $50 you get two salads, bread, two entrees and a shared dessert. Crazy awesome deal. There's also 10% off a bottle of wine. The salads had a list of house made dressings that all sounded amazing. I ended up with the wasabi one. It was super creamy and had a good balance of the wasabi flavor, I could definitely taste it but it wasn't in any way overpowering like wasabi can be. Now the bread was warm and fluffy but the star was the olive oil that they had infused with mushrooms, lemon, rosemary and a few other things. I could drink this stuff right out of the bottle. Honestly I could totally go here in summer, get just a glass of wine and an order of bread with this olive oil and sit outside to enjoy the view. Oy vey I've written a book and I'm just now getting to the main courses. I went with the salmon and my husband got the schnitzel. My only negative is that my salmon was a little overcooked. But the lemony sauce, the great couscous and nicely charred asparagus made this dish great. My husband and I do that whole switch meals thing because two is better than one, live a little. The schnitzel was really good. It was nice and crispy, the pork tasted great, that sauce was so good and the potato and red cabbage completed this dish. Just oh so good! For dessert we went with the apple fritter. Now I'm not a huge fan of doughnut type foods so I wasn't big on this one. I kind of let my husband talk me into this and I do love apple based desserts so I went with it. Now the ice cream, whipped cream, caramel and bacon bits were all great. Just not a fan of the fritter but that's probably more of a me problem then any issue with the dessert. The service we had was great, very friendly. The day wasn't super nice but I could tell the view would be great on a nicer day. To sum up this was an amazing meal. I will be back as soon as this whole lock down thing is over with! read more

We dined here 6/29/17 for dinner. I had Chilean Sea Bass, hubby had walleye. Both entrees were served over risotto. Mine had a curry sauce, his had a black truffle sauce. Fabulous flavor. Desserts were great too. We came back today for brunch. I had duck-n-waffles. It was an Asian preparation, and just delicious. I was actually sad when I ate the last bite. I ordered a side, avocado lime biscuit. Delicious! Larry had a lobster and turf Benny, with poached lobster, beef tenderloin, topped with fried eggs. Just wonderful. A peach mimosa, and a strawberry sorbet mimosa rounded out the meal. Service is attentive, not intrusive, and friendly. Looking out over the St. Lawrence River is good too, especially when a ship goes by! Open year round. We'll be back in the fall! read more

We made our reservation on Open Table. In the choice there was "outdoor" or "inside." With restaurants this always means that you either want to eat indoors or al fresco. At this restaurant it means you either want pub food (sandwiches) or fine dining. When we were told that we were going to be offered essentially lunch for dinner, we asked if we could eat in the "fine dining" restaurant that we had thought we had booked. No such luck. Not only could we not eat in the dining room, but we could not be served the dinner that was being served there, though the restaurant was only a few feet away. The sandwiches were fine, though the selections were few. The $40 oversized hors d'oeuvres plat was plentiful with lots of cheeses, meats and olives. The lobster roll was mediocre. But why on earth any restaurant spoil their gorgeous view of the St. Lawrence River with mediocre bar food. read more

This place has the best outdoor seating overlooking the water. The architecture is beautiful, the staff is 2nd to none, but most importantly the food is out of this world. I personally come for brunch on the weekends, and between the skillets, Bennys, and mimosa and Bloody Mary options it's a wonder I don't just rent a cabin and stay each weekend. This place is the perfect upscale yet relaxing restaurant. The indoor ambience is spectacular, if we hadn't had a group of 8 including a baby in a carrier we might have been sat outside on a beautiful day with a stupendous view, but as it was the best table for our group was indoors. The service was top-notch and attentive; we argued over sharing our brunch dishes with each other. Peach Saffron mimosa: Subtle hint of peach and even more subtle hint of saffron but both are most definitely there. I don't especially look for peach, but this is certainly a drink I'd order again. Served with peach purée and saffron simple syrup. The drinks and dishes were all excellent with the exception of the wild & exotic mushroom quiche, which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The menu promises a flaky crust but it was thick and crumbly like matzo, not light and flaky, even on top. Every other dish represented the best possible interpretation of the chosen ingredients, this is not a place you have to worry about your experience. We had brunch there on Sunday, and it was phenomenal! The service was great, it wasn't too busy, and the food came quickly. Our waitress was extremely attentive, and they were very patient with our two toddlers. Drinks were delicious - I had a classic Bloody Mary, but next time I'll branch out for one of their signature ones! My husband had two different mimosas and loved both. I highly recommend Praise the Lard and the Salmon Benny. Both were cooked to perfection. And, if you have kids, a side order of eggs or bacon is the perfect amount for kiddos. The fare is lighter on this menu and includes oysters, charcuterie slates, dips, salads, a tuna lettuce wrap, salads, etc. Unique cocktails were crafted using spirits from the on property distillery. The prices were higher than other places in the area, but every part of the experience was world class and worth it. Reservations are required and can be done by phone or on open table. Called prior to going for Mother's Day and was told that they were not accepting reservations and that it was first come first serve and they started at 10am. We arrive 10 minutes after 10 am. My daughter and I walked in after a large group. The guy at the stand completely ignored us as he proceeded to take said large group up stairs. A few minutes go by and my husband came in from parking the car and asked how long the wait was. As I was telling him that we were completely ignored upon entry the guy walks back down stairs, goes behind the host stand, and continues to walk into the bar area again, WITHOUT acknowledging us. He walks back up and said "Is it just the 3 of you" we said yes and he POINTED to a table in the bar area and said "That table to the left is ready". So we sit, look over the menu, and sit some more. 3 more people were seated in the bar area and at least 3 tables were seated outside AFTER us. We SAT there for 30 MINUTES without ANYONE acknowledging us. The 3 people that sat in the bar area orders were taken and drinks were brought to them. Same for the tables outside, and they all arrived AFTER us. Although....We were brought silverware. No HELLO, no offer of water, not one waitress acknowledged us even though they are walking past our table numerous times checking on everyone around us.
