One wanted peanut butter dip, but they were out, so he settled for his "usual," vanilla soft serve with a cherry dip. Another insisted on the biggest ice cream they offered (because apparently that's a personality trait at 11). He ended up with a banana split in the boat size. Their friend wanted the largest cone on the menu. I ordered him a medium twist instead, and he could barely finish it. As for me, I was deep in decision fatigue. Then I spotted the woman ahead of me with a sundae that let you pick three different flavors. Perfect. The universe had made the decision for me. I went with peanut butter cup sundae with Playdough (bright yellow vanilla ice cream loaded with colorful sugar cookie chunks), vanilla peanut butter twist, and classic cookie dough. The bottom was hiding a bunch of crushed Reese's cups, and of course the sundae was topped with whipped cream and a cherry. Somehow I forgot to take a picture of my treat. Is this a gourmet, artisanal ice cream destination? Nope. Is it exactly what you want when you're on a trip, it's late, everyone needs a sugar fix? Absolutely. It hit the spot!

This summer has had plenty of hot days and on this summer night I decided to pack up the family and make the trek to Natural Bridge to get some ice cream. The staff were ready to take our order from milkshakes, sundae boats to their very own soft serve maple ice cream which is one of my favorites and worth the extra drive. This year we stopped in Memorial Day weekend and the owner told us she didn't have the syrups yet but would the following weekend. We then stopped in 2 weekends later and spoke to another women who was very rude and said nope, they didn't have it. Fast forward to 4th of July weekend and we stopped in again (hoping maybe by chance she would have it) and that same women again very rude didn't want to give me the time of day when my kids asked if they had any. Last weekend we stopped in again and the owner assured us she would have it the following day. We waited a week and went back, the owner was not there and however the other women was and said "oh my god, no we don't have any, she never made it". She again was very rude. Needless to say, we won't be back.
