Drive to Wilson to check out the mercantile store and have dinner. Unfortunately the information on the website stating the store closed at 6PM was incorrect. We got there right at 5PM as they were putting the closed sign up. The sweet girl that worked there, let is look around real quick but we were unable to buy anything because she had closed out the register already. Anyhow .... We went across the street to Wilson's Cafe. The cafe is decorated nicely. It's warm and welcoming. There were only a few people there when we arrived and we were seated right away. The menu itself is not very large but the have a variety of items. They also have kids meals that are not listed in the menu .... grilled cheese, chicken strips w/fries. Don't remember what the third item was I ordered the hamburger and my friend had the special which was Barramundi, Mac and cheese and bbq cauliflower. The hamburger and fries were very good. The fries are homemade. My friend liked all of her meal. She had never had barramundi but liked it. She commented that both the mac and cheese and bbq cauliflower were very good. I tried a bite of her fish, which was not bad but a bit too fishy for me. It was a nice dinner and a nice atmosphere. By the time we left an hour or so later, the restaurant was pretty full. As I was visiting from Vegas, doubtful I'll be back but if I was a local, I would eat there again. read more

We took a day trip to Wilson, Arkansas and found a real gem in this transitioning little delta town. Turns out we were acquainted with the owner from his days as a restaurant manager in Memphis. The food and service is top shelf. No really ... some of the best comfort food I've had, anywhere. Put this one on your bucket list. It's 7 minutes east of I-55, and about 45 minutes from Memphis. I work with special folks and have for 30 years. On a planned trip, our group called ahead and made arrangements for our boys and their staff to have lunch at The Wilson Café. The group was treated with anything but respect. Even though we called ahead, the group was on their best behavior and we had one to one staffing with them, we were told that we were inconveniencing their regular customers. They boys were not even completely finished with their meals. Shameful! Learn some compassion and respect for our most vulnerable population! We are going to Skinny J's downtown Jonesboro next time. Really neat upscale place off the interstate for the ooutsiders, but a very good meal. The guacamole burger was fantastic. The staff is very professional and knowledgeable, not country Bumkins...prices for lunch were very reasonable, lower than I expected. Can't wait to bring wife back for a dinner selection. Well worth the 10-ish minute sojourn off I-55. Located in a beautifully updated historical building on Wilson's town square. Awesome friendly service, yummy guacamole burgers, crispy hand cut fries, lick the plate good chocolate chess pie (it's like an extra gooey brownie in a pie crust.) Oh, and excellent tea, but that's sort of a given around these parts. :) If we roll through again on another road trip we will definitely be back! read more

We grew up in Keiser and have heard about the changes in the cafe for months. While camping at Village Creek State Park we decided to drive over with our friends to see what all the fuss is about. What a huge disappointment. The food could have been wonderful, but everything was so salty we could hardly eat it. The four of us had a variety of menu items--salmon patties, hamburger steak, mac and cheese, purple hull peas, turnip greens, green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls , buttermilk pie and coconut pie. The only thing that was exceptional was the two desserts. Both seemed to be handmade. ALL the vegetables were so salty they were almost inedible. The roll looked like it had not had time to rise properly; the hamburger steak was hard and dry and looked like it came from the frozen food section from Wal-Mart. It came with gravy--also too salty--but only about a teaspoon on top of the patty. It was almost like someone had played a prank on the chef and double-salted everything. Our local diner has better food at half the price and it is only 15 minutes away. read more

We were so impressed by the service, food, ambiance, and staff. We got there amidst lunch rush, and our server was kind, patient, and welcoming. I just knew the food would be great, and it did not disappoint!! My husband had the hamburger steak with cheesy grits and purple hull peas; to round out: banana cake. I chose a daily 3 of tender, meaty country greens, acidic, marinated cucumber and purple onions, and lightly, seasoned roasted Brussels sprouts; to finish: chocolate cookie dough pie. The food was good I love the cafe ambience however the waitress was a little assertive and overstepping. Our youngest has severe social anxiety (autism spectrum) so I order for him, well she called him out and had him order, needless to say he cried. read more

We passed through for lunch and had never been to Wilson. The outside of this place is very quaint and well maintained. The inside is gorgeous, very well done. We sat in the bar area and we admired the wainscoting. It's a great place to drive with your honey and a great meal. We both had the grilled blackened chicken which was excellent. I had the green beans and Cajun Mac and cheese for sides. They were excellent too but the green beans had a smoked flavor which made them my favorite. I grew up not far from Wilson, AR and remember the building when it was The Wilson Tavern. I never ate at The Tavern for many reasons. I started eating at The Wilson Cafe shortly after it first opened. My siblings and I were so pleased that we had a private party for 50, celebrating our birthdays. Everyone who attended were pleased with the food, service staff, and atmosphere. Joe and Shari' truly made everyone feel welcomed. Even now, when I slip down to Wilson, I receive the same wonderful service. I am glad how the business has grown for Joe and Shari'. The renovations are beautiful also. I cannot say which area of the restaurant is my favorite--all are! I love the fact that they offer a new twist on certain foods (the braised greens are to die for). The desserts are very good...it is hard to decide on a dessert as they all are really good (pies have the flakiest crusts). I highly recommend anyone to make the drive to Wilson for a flavorful experience; you palate will thank you. read more

I've been meaning to come here for a while. I know a lot of people who work there. I promised I'd come soon and finally came. The city is cute. The restaurant is cute on the outside and trendy on the inside. Service was a+. We were all happy with our food. I had a veggie plate. The greens were awesome with large pieces of meat in them. The Mac n cheese was good. The cucumber salad was really good. The mashed potatoes were good but were a bit cold. The rolls were good. I also tried my friend's food. Hamburger steak, fries, and green beans were all tasty. I'd go here again but it is a drive from Memphis. read more

I had farm to table greens, seasoned very well - a sweet sour taste, purple hull peas, and herb quartered potatoes! All excellent but I needed cornbread instead of a roll with these great veggies! If you are traveling and are hungry (or not) get off the highway and go here!!!! The food is delicious!! My family of 6 stopped in on a whim when traveling from Texas to Chicago and were welcomed by the owners and other friendly staff. The food was awesome and affordable! The desserts are absolutely amazing... You have to try the pudding (can't remember the name) we tried several of them - YUM!! Drove out of the way to Wilson on the way to St. Louis. Pretty town square. The restaurant is new and clean. The food did not taste good. Pinto beans were seasoned with sage. Mac and cheese was noodles with globs of processed cheese. Tuna salad had strange taste. Will not return to Wilson. read more

This is one of my favourite restaurants right now. I'd rather drive 30 minutes to get here from Marion, than drive 20 minutes to Memphis. This place is definitely a "best kept secret". We celebrated my parents's 50th wedding anniversary here. The staff was amazing and accommodating. The food is very upscale. I love that they have a different deviled egg every day. We are planning on going this Friday to see the Christmas lights of Blytheville but stop off at Wilson Cafe first for a wonderful NEW Christmas tradition. read more

3 in our party. 2 ordered steak and fries. Steaks were gray, unappealing to the eye. Didn't look like steak. Looked like they were cooked (barely) in a skillet or oven, definitely not over flame. We each took 2 bites. Second bite was just as tasteless,greasy and tough. Server came by just as we finished our fries. Showed her that we couldn't eat the steaks. Her response was "everyone likes our steaks". Paid $100 for a catfish dinner, 2 orders of fries we actually ate, plus tip. Will never go back. We frequently dine in Memphis and don't mind paying for a good meal, however, resent throwing away money on poor quality food. read more

Great place to eat! We were heading south on I 55, and read about Wilson's Cafe on Yelp and decided to try it for lunch. We had the grilled cheese special, which today was shaved turkey, (grilled) with melted cheddar cheese, on grilled sour dough bread. Delicious! Also a club sandwich on wheat bread, with a sweet herb dressing. The fries were fresh cut and fried to perfection. We finished lunch off with donut bread pudding. I had heard about nice the Wilson Cafe was and that they had a chef from Memphis. So, my family and I went here to eat on Saturday night. It was very cold outside. We had reservations and when we got there, our table was right in front of the door. At this time there were plenty of other areas they could have seated us. Every time someone came in we got a huge draft of cold air. Finally, we asked to be moved. We were told they would see what they could do in a few minutes. We asked if we could move to a corner table or two next to each other. They said sure. So we moved, without any offer of help from the wait staff. Our waitress seemed to be very busy with everyone but us. We were there at least two hours. In that time my tea glass was refilled once and I had to wave and say excuse me to get anyone's attention to get that done. The food was good, but over priced. We got fried green tomatoes as an appetizer for around $7 or $8 and there was only 3 regular sized slices in the order. Most everything on the menus was spicy so not the best choices for delicate stomachs. Our group all together(6 adults and 2 children) spent around $300 for an okay meal and poor service. Not impressed. Doubt I will go again! read more
