The Wine Cellar at Red Bank is located in the beautiful and bustling downtown RED BANK nearby popular restaurants, theatres, the riverfront, shopping, attractions, and is a must stop when visiting the charming town. This beautiful store has convinced me that I need a wine room in my house because of their eclectic hand-picked selection from all over the world at fantastic prices. Katarina organized a lovely Yelp Elite event that included a complimentary sampling, meeting the staff and learning about the company, light snacks, and socializing with other Yelp Eliters. The shop features a special curated selection for every palette from well-known brands all the way to boutique wineries, at discounted prices. We enjoyed five different wines including a sparkling wine, pinot noir, chenin blanc, rioja, and a zinfandel, paired perfectly with charcuterie provided by Fourchette Red Bank and cookies from Fable Creamery Vegan Ice Cream & Confections. I was able to walk around and chat with the staff while learning different wine facts about the bottles being sampled and other selections in the store. Josh, Chris, David, and Jeni were fabulous hosts and one of the best things I appreciate and that stands out from other wine shops is the knowledge the staff has. They can answer any question you have and guide you to a perfect pick for whatever function you need a bottle, two, three, case, or more for. They offer wedding wine guide tips on their website and can make recommendations on what to serve at a celebration. Another convenience of being located right in town is that you can buy a bottle and take it to a BYOB restaurant within easy walking distance. For guests to the store, there are complimentary wine sampling events every 2 weeks featuring a special selection and you can sign up for their newsletter on their website to be apprised of the events or check their website to register for the event. Walk ins are always welcome. You can also try before you buy and the more you buy, the more you save. The Wine Cellar has 9 locations across the country and how lucky people are to live near one. This was a great atmosphere, providing a substantial amount of wines to choose from. Josh and Jeni were pleasant and knowledgeable about the wines they offered in the tasting. As someone who loves wine but knows so little about it, I really appreciate a shop where someone is there to help me pick the perfect bottle. Alex, the sommelier, helped me choose a great malbec the last time I stopped in. All the pros about this shop: -Incredible selection and wide price range. -Helpful staff and sommelier there to help you pick the perfect bottle. -plenty of street parking (metered). -Cute little wine tote to carry out your bottles! Hey hey Adventurers! Honestly if you said 6 years ago I'd be doing authentic reviews of local spots around me I'd have laughed. But these days it's a luxury to be able to enjoy a small but intimate Yelp Elite Event because this is the new norm as to how we are able to explore local spots responsibly. Thomas was amazing and the Wine Cellar was more than accommodating with hospitality. I picked up two bottles for my bday next year because this felt serendipitous. They carry a wide arrange of wines both domestically and internationally. My favorite was the awesome sale buy one get one 75% off. After speaking with Thomas the majority of my visit it seems the sales are ever changing, but this seemed to be the best sale. If you want great costumer service and knowledgeable staffing then this is your shop to go to! I decided to try new wines out and wasn't sure what I'd like and the gentleman who helped me was super helpful and knowledgeable about helping me pick and choose what ones I'd like best! The wine was fairly priced and the wine I got definitely hit my expectations (: The location was easy to get to , and there's street parking up close that you do have to pay for. While visiting my girlfriends and walking around Red Bank on a blustery Sunday afternoon, we came upon the Wine Cellar. We stopped, looked at each other, and realized YES! We should get more wine for the next couple of days! The Wine Cellar staff member was super friendly and energetic. She welcomed us into the store and got us caught up on the current sales, and then asked what our wine preferences and tastes are so that she could better direct us around the store. Two of us deferred the selections to our host, since she's clearly the wine connoisseur of the group. Then our friend and the staff member walked around hand-picking some delicious fun wines that we could take back to Piscataway and enjoy. And so we did. Cheers! read more

I love this wine store. They have a great selection (keep in mind I am not some wine connoisseur). The staff are always helpful and whether you are a wine snob or someone who prefers 2 buck chuck, you'll find something for your taste here. What I love are their specials. You absolutely should join their email list to keep updated when they have bottles for $6-8 and sometimes a bit more. You can get some fantastic wine for 8 bucks and it's hard to beat that. They were having a decent sale where most items were buy 1 get the second for 75% off. I definitely took advantage of the sale. If you're a member of, or have ever ordered from the Wall Street Journal wine club, or Virgin Atlantic's, or Laithwaites', or Barclays', you know the deal. All of their "introductory cases" for new members are $69.99 for 15 bottles, plus applicable state tax and $20 shipping. So you end up paying about $7/bottle. Why is this relevant? Well, having ordered from just about all of those wine clubs, all of which send you the same bottles, I couldn't help but to notice the same labels on the shelves in this place. Suspicious this was not a coincidence, I even asked, "do you order from the WSJ wine club," and the employee responded "yes." In fact, I now seem to remember this place as being the NJ-based fulfillment center. So, here's how this works, or at least how I think it works. They order a significant portion of their inventory from the clubs, but probably in bigger bulk and therefore at a much lower cost than $7/bottle. They then try to charge you $14.79 for each of those bottles, but offer you a 35-40% discount on each bottle if you order a case, which comes about to $9.08/bottle. So, worst case scenario, they're only making about $2 off you IF you order a case AND they're not acquiring the bottles for less than $7/each. read more

Had a good visit to our favorite wine shop in Red Bank last week while visiting. It's a fave because of the selection and more so because they have knowledgeable staff to help giude their customers. Our som friend, Mr Olson (en?) guided me to choose a 6-pack of reds in a short period of time. Helps when you know what you like. Out of the 6 only one was to fruit forward and he did share that it had flavors of berries (should have tipped me off). Highly recommend stopping in to check them out! read more

I lived in Red Bank for 2.5 years and only recently moved to California...I could live without 99.9% of the businesses there but I miss this store terribly. They do tastings Friday night and Saturday afternoon - usually a red and a white but it varies. This is a great way to get introduced to the store and some new wines. Mark (bald guy), the manager, knows a lot about wine, but most importantly, if you give him a price range and a basic idea of what you are looking for (grape, region, whatever), he will steer you to a great bottle at almost any price. He has tasted almost all of the wines in the store so he is a great resource. Other people there are very helpful, as well. The store specializes in wines and varieties you may have never heard of, and has a great selection of European wines. This is not the place to go to buy a cheap bottle of Beringer or Smoking Loon...but if you are looking to branch out from the typical California fruit- and oak-bomb this is a great place to start! We lived so close we used to walk to the store, but there is usually street parking on Monmouth and there is a small lot behind the store (access it by turning from Monmouth onto Drummond, then making the next left onto Gold; the lot has a Wine Cellar van usually parked on it). read more

Went here looking for a certain style of wine and was told by the some what annoyed employee that the 2 bottles I bought where the best they had. I don't know much about wine, but the staff of the Wine Cellar is both helpful & non-judgmental, never making me feel like I'm too wine-dumb to be there. In an age when most wine-lovers are pretentious as hell, that goes a long way. All the wines in the middle aisle of the store are $14.95, & the second bottle is (usually? always? sometimes?) 50% off; everything around the periphery is more expensive. The half a dozen or so wines I've tried from here have all been really excellent, & the staff is always friendly & ready to answer questions. They'll even take orders to deliver your wine to BYOB restaurants in the immediate area. Pick up a bottle or two on a Friday, then head to the Cheese Cave across the street for all-you-can-eat $5 cheese tastings! read more

When sales are running, the premium bottle prices are by far the lowest both online and in-store against their competitors. I went into this store because of a Groupon, but I'll definitely be returning often. The store is well organized, by region. The staff are so helpful and friendly. I asked for two whites and two reds, told them what type of wine I usually like, and so far, all were great picks!! Very happy with the service I received and of course, the delicious wines.
