Well, it was time for our seasonal AC tuneup, and I called Johnson Power and Air primarily due to their glowing Yelp reviews. Turns out three capacitors were running out of spec so you can imagine the bill for that. I have had other HVAC companies out before and had gotten conflicting reports about the condition of the capacitors. I figured after 9 years it was probably time to replace them. Chris from Johnson Power and Air did a fantastic job diagnosis a problem I had with a Pentair Pool electrical panel. He determined it was a faulty GFCI plug that was causing several components to malfunction. Quick replacement of the outlet (grounding it this time) and a review of the rest of the panel, he was able to determine everything else was in working order. Jason came out quickly to give me a quote. I had received quotes from 8 or so contractors and felt that not only was he fair on price but he also had a reasonable plan for my project (adding backyard eave outlets to my roof line on a switch inside, ground level outlets always hot in the backyard and relocating wiring from an old light box off center in my living room to install a ceiling fan in the middle of the room. Jason didn't over promise anything and gave me the reality of things he might have to do (drywall cuts, stucco cuts, etc.) Once scheduled he showed up on time (15mins early actually) and got to work. He minimized the repairs I needed to deal with after he left to only a single hole to fix (the old light box.) He communicated well and kept me up to speed on progress. The project was wrapped up in the afternoon, he verified everything with me and he cleaned up after himself before he left. I will contact Johnson again in the fall when I do the same for the front yard for Christmas lights. read more

Update: JPS wanted to make this right. They did leave me 2 messages but my perception of them was already set in stone (or so I thought), and I felt like there was nothing more to be said or heard. To my surprise, I received a check for the full amount in the mail yesterday. This spoke volumes on how they value customer satisfaction and reputation over anything else. Needless to say, I was too quick to judge and must change my view of the company as well. ______________________ I had all 4 lights in the front side of my house not turn on all of the sudden. They were LED dusk to dawn lights ibought from Amazon 4 years ago. Thinking it's impossible for all 4 lights to go out at once, I automatically assumed it was power to oneof the switches and tried various combo of turning on and off various switches located towards the front of the house. No dice. My hubby gave up also. I chose JPS bc out of those who responded to my quote request for the job, these guys had the highest rating. The guy showed up in the time range provided and asked to to show him various switches that may be affecting it. I showed him the location of switches that I had troubleshoot including the garage switches, in hopes of helping him. He walked around the exterior and our garage space looking at our switches a few minutes. He then quoted $250 to troubleshoot it (mind you, service call alone was like $80 just to show up). He then said that price won't guarantee that it won't be fixed, depending on whether wires need to be redone. Out of desperation, I told him that there was one thing I haven't done yet which was swap out the bulbs with known good ones. He asked me for a new bulb and I gave him one. Turns out it was faulty bulbs...all 4 of them quit at the same time. He offered a charge of $90...for something he hadn't even done troubleshooting on and i offered help on. I bit my lip and told him for $90, the least he could do is swap out all 4 of my lightbulbs before leaving. He reluctantly did, took my check, and left. Lesson learned. read more

EXCELLENT service and results from a fantastic company! I had the pleasure of having Dan and an apprentice come in, first do an estimate on the house for a few ceiling lights I wanted installed in my kids rooms! While other electricians recommended 4 lights in each room and just dim the lights if it's too bright, Dan was always thinking practical and suggested only two lights in each small bedroom because 4 would have been overkill. I didn't know anything about lighting, and he recommended the more modern fit LED flat light versus the traditional recessed can lights. Set up a date for them to come in and do the installs. Actually had to reschedule and the person who answers the phones, Kristen is super nice as well! They came in and made quick work of their installs. And they even cleaned my children's rooms after they installed the lights! What service!!!! That's going above and beyond just to show that they care. Dan was also so friendly too, his apprentice that was with him was super nice too! I will go to Johnson Power Solutions for all my electrical needs! I have no way to put into context what a great job Johnson Power Solutions did. I started a project on yelp to have them update my electrical panel, which was preventative maintenance. Dan came out to quote me, and I asked him to take a look and see if everything is up to code and if I could quote for that too. They came out two days later and ran tests on my breaker box. They found an issue with my electric and called SRP. My neutral underground had almost eroded. They made sure I was up and running and looked after every last detail. They waited out SRP as they worked through the afternoon and swapped out all my outlets and switches. They made several improvements to my ceiling fan/light switches. With auto dimmer and variable switches. GFIs and a split out/switch on my galley counter. I can not thank them enough. read more

The worst! We renovated our kitchen through Home Depot and this business was a subcontractor. On the first site visit, the electrician was cavalier at best. I tried to explain that the plug-in boxes needed to be replaced but he didn't even look at them. Later, while doing initial work, he wanted an additional $350 to replace them because he hadn't looked at them. At the same time, this electrician cost us an extra $100 for drywall repair because he had a junior electrician cut a long line horizontally across the wall to put a small wire in even though he specifically told me prior to doing their work that he wouldn't need to do it and had no explanation for why they did it anyway. They sent an electrician back to replace the outlet boxes, ("Pops") and he did a horrible job. My guess was that there a little payback for my argument with the first guy. It was so poor that a prominent outlet plate will not go flush to the tile backsplash even after a very experienced drywall & tile contractor worked with it as much as possible. The LED lighting they put beneath the cabinets no longer works in one area and I now have to pay to have someone else fix it. These people were always late and even a no-show without any courtesy call, comment or apology. In a phone conversation with the owner (woman), she said that, from the photos she saw of our kitchen, it looked beautiful as if the crap work they did somehow didn't matter. Of the Home Depot subcontractors, these electricians were absolutely, positively the worst and I've done remodeling projects before. The kitchen makeover was my wife's dream for many years. She died a little over a year ago so now I can comment without her getting upset and re-living the experience. read more

Kristin was very nice. However, Jason was not as knowledgeable, nor professional as I had hoped. I have been dreading having to write this, but maybe it will help other single women before they employ this business. The entire visit was a nightmare starting with his arrival. I have a security screen door. Instead of knocking or ringing the bell, Jason decided to yell, announcing his arrival. Did not wipe his feet. I went over what my concerns were and wanted done for the inspection. He kept walking by outlets and needed them pointed out to test. Can lights- asked him how to safely replace. He response was for a different type. We had just been in the house observing the flickering. He should have noticed what type they were and what was required to replace them. The whole visit was like pulling eye teeth. He went to the garage to check in the attic after I showed him the access point in the pantry. Didn't put my ladder back where he found it. Wanted to move a storage closet to check for an outlet behind it instead of using a flashlight. And best of all, he hit me. So hard in fact, that my arm still stung after 10 min. Under no circumstances is it 'ok' to hit a customer, let alone, a woman. He gave an I'm sorry, 'but' Which means he wasn't. Apparently, he thought I was going to touch the uncover electrical box. Hey, why not say something like be careful, blah,blah,blah. I was reaching for a cobweb. He way over tightened the screws in the box. I guess it's possible that he has been doing this for almost 30 yrs. Lots of people stay with the same job even though they are not good at it. I also didn't care for him barking at me to 'get the door'. I had offered to hold the door while he was carrying the ladder in. I was going to hold it for him otw out. "Get the Door". Wow. I doubt you get much return business after Jason has gone on a call. If you're looking to keep "Pops" busy, many the warehouse would be a better fit. Needless to say, there will be no return visit. His hands and odor also indicated he is not in the habit of showering. Sorry Kristin, but this experience had to be put out there. read more
