Bought a new TiVo. TiVo works with a cable card so you don't need a cable box. I needed to reauthorize my cable card to link with the new TiVo instead of the old TiVo. Understand? Apparently, 14(!!!) Cablevision customer service reps didn't understand. Took over 6 hours over three days on hold, waiting for the "next level" support (which turned out to be sending me back into the queue for someone else to deal with), or just a flat out hangup to avoid dealing with an issue that no one has been trained to solve. And no, I wasn't rude, I didn't raise my voice, I tried to be understanding of their lack of understanding of what a TiVo was. I have been a customer since they were TKR Cable in the 80's. Then Cablevision. Then Optimum. Now Altice. Every new iteration of the company destroys customer service just a little bit more. We are now at a point where stopping somebody walking past my house has just as much a chance of fixing my problem as calling "customer service". Someday, the FCC will (hopefully) look at cable companies again and do something about these criminals.
