We rented unit #20, what a huge disappointment! First off, we reserved the condo almost four months in advance, read your contract carefully, they will charge your credit card IMMEDIATELY - not a deposit, not a hold, a full CHARGE. So don't book in advance if you're not prepared to pay before you stay. Better yet, don't stay. Also, beware, the contract states that there is a huge fee if you try to cancel - no matter how far in advance. We knew that, but we were going with another couple and a few weeks after we booked, the guy was laid off. I figured with 3 1/2 months left to rent the place they would have mercy on our situation. No dice. We were going to lose about $800, knowing that they would probably be renting the place out again and making almost double the rent for the President's Day weekend. Well, it's in the contract so we were stuck. We decided to go anyway rather than p!$$ away $800. It would've been worth it.
From the outside the place looks nice and there's plenty of parking. We tried to use the Jacuzzi several times, but there are probably 50 units and one Jacuzzi. It was always full.
I must hire the condo photographer to do some portraits for me, because they made the place look great when it was gross. The place hasn't been updated since the 70's. It is carpeted with dirty shag carpet though out - including the outdated BATHROOMS. Ew, ew,ew. You could feel the wet shag through the bathmat. The furniture was ok, and the dining table was huge, big enough for a crowd. There is one spot on the floor between the dining and living rooms that badly sinks in when you walk on it - it's just a matter of time before someone falls though. I put a chair over the spot so everyone would walk around it. (Even though I risked a $75 fee for moving the furniture according to that ^%$# contract.) The furniture in the bedrooms is cheap and old, every time I opened the dresser drawers they would fall out or come off the track. Speaking of 'off the track' - the sliding door to the deck was almost IMPOSSIBLE to open, you had to put all of your weight on it to get it to slide a few inches.
We had a dog with us (extra fee of course), and ALWAYS picked up after her. Seems we were the only one who did, because there were piles everywhere, and several large dogs off leash.
The kitchen looks way bigger in the photos, it is TINY. The appliances are old, small and broken and there's hardly any counter space. When you unload the dishwasher, you have to put everything on the counters first, because you won't be able to reach the cabinets with the dishwasher door open. Definitely a one-person kitchen. I could go on and on about everything wrong with the place - but you get the idea.
The worst thing of all, the &^%$ cable wasn't working. We called the first day and then waited several hours for the maintenance guy to come fix it. He couldn't figure it out and called someone else to look at it. This took several more hours of waiting around - bottom line is no one could fix it. We called the owner and he tried to figure it out over the phone, and then asked US to call the cable company to come out. He even asked if we were staying until Monday so we could wait for the cable guy. W.T.H.? Bottom line is that we had no cable for the entire time and three very unhappy teenagers. We spent probably about six hours of our vacation messing around with phone calls and waiting for repair people.
This cost of the place is what you would expect to pay for a higher end place. It was less than Motel 6 quality. We asked the owner for a partial refund for all of the wasted time messing with his cable, but we never heard back. An apology would've been nice too. We will never stay here or use this rental agency again. read more
