Dance party central!!! I came here on a chilly Friday night for a friend's birthday. The party started early, so we were able to snag a booth and a hooks for our coats. The bartenders were attentive and heavy handed with the liquor. Some of us ordered tacos and they smelled divine! Definitely a good way to start the night. Around 1030pm, the DJ started and the place started to get more and more crowded. The music was fun - mix of old skool hip hop, disco, and general randomness, but definitely high energy. The crowd was pretty diverse - your usual brooklyn hipster guys and girls, but I also met some people from Long Island and the Bronx (there is plenty of parking in the area). Everyone was ready to dance and the vibe was pretty fun. Later in the night, after more crowding and more drinks, people started to get a little attitudinal. One short dude with an obvious complex called me a few names because i wouldn't dance with him, but whatevs. If he was a nice guy, I would've given him a chance. Damn... my first attempt at searching this place on Yelp turned up nothing (blame the iphone app devs). So I was all excited and all set to churn out another FTR, but alas my hopes are dashed. But I did really like this place. For a happy hour that lasts until 10pm, it's kinda worth the bike ride over the bridge, that and a little heavy lip locking is enough to motivate me to do pretty much anything! The place - large and spacious The people - local and sexy Outdoor garden - check Dog friendly - check Draft beers aplenty The garden in the back is actually a bit like a beer garden, but with less riff raff goings-ons. Of course this was Tue night so who knows what the weekend brings. Oh I almost forgot, they have food in the back. All out of quesadillas, I ordered a veggie burrito. My expectations were low, and so I was wildly surprised that this here burrito they brought me was tasty, full of spinach and rice, a bit of cheese and some zucchini to round things out. Went here for a friend's born day. In all honesty, it was a good time. We came here for the jam portion. The venue has a lot of space (for Williamsburg) and also had a dining area out back. The drinks weren't expensive and I wasn't waiting at the bar for an exorbitant amount of time for a drink. The tunes were decent enough, I felt the DJ could have had better timing and song selection, but I've heard worse. The crowd was nice enough, a bit pushy though. I love this place so much. get there early with my friends to grab a table and eat some reaaaaalllllyyyyy good tacos and burritos. the drink specials are the best! the music is so much fun... especially since everywhere else all you here is electronic/house. it gets crowded after 11 but thats when you're feeling super awesome and want to meet new people. the people.. friendly, interesting , attractive. i should just write a bad review to keep this place under wraps. the only negative part is its hard to get to...but im the fool that lives in queens... and i will travel to get to the woods!!! read more

My favorite place to hang out. Lovely courtyard where mingling is easy. Mexican food offered all night (at least until you can stand up). Cheap and bonito Music is awesome, both DJs I have seen there, including that young brunette playing groovy tracks really set the vibe. Cheap drinks and lovely people. As I am European, I think that its location is ok, only 15 minutes walk from Bedford. As I am European, I don't think that tipping is ok when you are paying a $3 can, but do it or you will not get served until the end of the night. Enjoy! read more

I have never in my life been kicked out of bar, and have never heard of someone getting kicked out of a place for dancing too hard. I did nothing, and I truly mean NOTHING wrong except get tipsy and wild-out on the dancefloor, yet was grabbed by my neck and thrown on the concrete outside the front door. I called the cops because I was shocked by this unacceptable assault by the security guard. The cops asked if I was alright which I thought I was until trying to sit down later and squinting in pain from my tailbone. The cops didn't care because it was a sober person's word against my less-than-sober word, so I left. Don't go here if you're a good dancer, you might get attacked by the staff for it and Brooklyn's finest might not give a hoot. read more

Went over the summer, had a great time with friends, although it was crazy packed, they need to do some remodeling. The bar is so close to the door that it creates a huge pile-up of people trying to buy a drink and people trying to leave. We left early because we each had to use the bathroom but couldn't wait on the disastrously long line for that. The atmosphere was awesome, the space, not. Came here Saturday night with a group of girlfriends. This was my first time here so I wasn't' sure what to expect. The crowd was very diverse (which I loved) and the music was great. They played a genre of music, Michael Jackson, reggae, edm, hip hop and 90's pop. If you like to dance this is definitely the place to be but the dance floor is extremely packed. I couldn't take the pushing and shoving while trying to dance so I made my way outside for refuge. They have a large outdoor section with a full bar and food truck that's reasonably priced. All in all this was a fun night and I would return just not spending my whole night on the dance floor. read more

A woman I met at Dram sent me here. The back patio is awesome, and I think I would not mind this place on an off night. On a Friday I could only take a few minutes here. It is a place for the younger and the pick up set for sure. It is where hip hop meets hipster and there is beer being spilled on the floor and I am sure there are hookups being planned. I saw a woman just a door down taking off all her clothes and changing. Her friends were trying to protect her in a semicircle -- all laughing and halfheartedly saying "don't look." They had a grill in the back and lots of tables in the giant back patio space. This bar is in an industrial area it seems so it was loud and I could see coming here early with a group, or later to try ones odds in the pickup game. At some point that girl might take her clothes off again? Nice bouncers. Not too in your face. Not my scene, but still a ok bar, and I would probably go here early to enjoy the patio for sure and perhaps grab a burger from the grill. read more

I came here for brunch bounce ugly sweater party so I'm not sure this review is accurate of what a regular night is like. Ambience: Place is pretty spacious with a hut in the back that serves food and has a second bar. The main room was packed and the bathroom line was awful. Crowd was your usual brunch bounce crowd, young, mostly black and latinos. Music: Was top 40 but towards the end they played more EDM. Drinks: They had $5 fireball shots but not sure if this was just for the sweater party. This place have a huge bar area when you first walk in, another big area to chill and then you walk to the back, BOOM, patio area with a counter for baconlicious treats! Amazingly chill. The have a variety of beer on tap and an extra indoor space in the back where the food is served. I wish we hadn't gotten here so early and left so early because it had a lot of promise of being a bumpin place. Landhaus apparently is here and they have the best maple bacon on a stick and I didn't get to eat it because it wasn't open until way later. The space itself is really cool. Tall ceilings, open space, back outdoor patio. Bathrooms were standard and clean. I'll have to re-visit this place again and re-review it. read more

I like that everyone is younger here and it's not a lame frat situation, but it's also very weird sometimes with everyone sitting around pretending to be slightly amused. I came here a few days ago and had such a great time I felt compelled to write a review even though I haven't written one in ages. First of all the space is great- a huge big front bar with cool but simple cocktails. It's definitely not a cocktail bar but they are doing more than they have to which is cool. The back is a restaurant bar/ restaurant and the food is actually really good. I had the veggie tacos but they have lots of menu items. It's got a neat look even the bathrooms are super cool! Also our bartender Adare was awesome. She was really fun and friendly and made our night. We were only gonna stay for a drink and ended up staying for three hours because of her!! I haven't even had the tacos yet, but I already dig this place. First thing I see when we walk in are the drink specials. I like when places pair stuff up (ex: $4 for Bud Can + Jameson shot or $3 for Tecate + Tequila shot) so I was pretty much sold on the spot. The vibe was certainly hipster-y (not generally a plus in my book) but I liked that there was so much dancing (which in my opinion is non-hispter since most people have to be willing to look a bit goofy aka. "genuine" when they dance) The DJs were a mixed bag. They'd play a good song and then mess it up by slowing it down or whatever (one guy actually got booed for doing this with an MJ song) but we ended up dancing for a good couple hours, so I guess it wasn't too shabby. FUN - but BEWARE, this place gets sooooooo packed on a Saturday night. I'm definitely more of a Manhattanite than a Brooklynite (I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've gone out in Williamsburg), but I know how to enjoy a good night out in Brooklyn. This place was fun until literally, none of us could move. We were forced to go elsewhere because it just became not fun. + - Awesome music & cheap drinks -- - WAY too crowded on a Saturday night to actually be able to appreciate the music. Dark and dimly lit bar with cheap libations and a taco joint in the back. The bar boasts a great patio in the back with long wooden tables to enjoy your food and drink. May i say that this is on my top 5 list of places to go in Williamsburg. My favorite thing is that its a chill/relaxing bar with great hanging out music. The line to go in does get a little crazy round 11:30pm, but other than that no compliant sat all. The bar is long but always packed, the bartenders definitely do their best to expedite the drinks. They also have an outdoor patio that's usually more crowded than inside and the only take cash at the bar. Only downside to this place is that its quite a walk from the train. read more

The Wood's is a weird place. It is also one of my favorite drinking holes in the city. I like that it's a little out of the way. I like that they have a back area for smokers and hot dog lovers. I love that there's a dance floor in the back and the drink's are not expensive at all. and I especially love their choice in music. In New York, it's hard to find a lesbian place that is not a lounge and can actually dance. I come here on Wednesdays and call it Girls-Girls-Girls night. Every girl there is beautiful (in an edgy, Brooklyn way of course). I have a great time everytime. The people there are very laid back. My friend even bumped into Cara Delevingne there one time and offered to buy her a drink. Sadly, she declined.. read more

so my buddy slipped up and apparently we went on heh hum "woman appreciation night" *wink wink* so hey couldn't complain about the man to woman ratio =D. The place is spacious with in door and out door mingle room. Did not feel cramped and music was playing well enough throughout. They also serve food where I had the fried pickles and burgers (9 bucks for the burger w/ no sides). Cocktails are good, I had the old english that came in a very colorful cup but hell long as it tastes good. The reason this place gets 3 stars is because its cash only...? Like wth? Not sure how common that is around here but when the food can be paid with a card and the drinks can't, that's just silly. Probably would go again if my friend wanted...probably. *update so apparently they do accept cards inside. I don't know if they started taking cards at the food court, but it was always cash only which I Hate. It's a huge location, so you don't feel overwhelmed. Great place! It was jumping and fun! Theres a chill bar area right when you walk in the music is a bit loud there but if you walk further in there's a dance floor and then walk further and there's outdoor seating and then beyond that there's a super warm heat lamped SECOND bar that serves really good drunchie food for low price. I mean I got like 20 chicken fingers for $10.00 I had to share ! Which is good for meeting new people! So perfect it has 4 distinct different vibes in the same place ! Also the bathroom lines are fast because they have gender neutral and the sink is also communal so it's very efficient. The only thing with this place is that it's a bit far if you live anywhere outside of Williamsburg and the J,M trains aren't making all the stops (which happens a lot) then you have to take the L train and it's a bit of a walk especially in the cold! First off, this place smells odd. What is it? BO? Weed? Huh... The beer + shot drink specials are pretty great at $5-7, so if you're looking to get wrecked for relatively not much money, here you go! Little to complain about there. I've heard the pickle back is worth trying, but haven't gotten around to it myself. Taco truck and nice patio out back for people to go smoke themselves to death...pretty good. The crowd, eh. I guess this is where the almost-graduated-to-yuppie hipsters in their later 20's and early 30's hang out in Billiamsburg. I went on a Thursday night and the crowd had a pretty pretentious vibe about it for some remote gin joint in a warehouse district. Mostly larger groups of friends who seemed uninterested in conversation with outsiders. Not bad enough to run away from, but not good enough to rush back to right away either. read more

Great Drinks, Great music, Amazing Bar Food from the new Landhaus Kart (replaced the old taco truck) I'm a big fan the Bacon sticks soaked in VT maple syrup and spicy dusting of a secret sauce so good with a Margarita and carnitas taco is pretty awesome too! The Bartenders are very cool as long as its not to busy thats it. Good everyday but the weekends. I'm not a big fan of the crazy drunk crew, when people let loose here they really let loose. I've been visiting this location for 6 years to attend the queer party on Wednesday. Over those 6 years, I have physically transitioned and identify as transmasculine and non binary. Last night, i was barred from entering with two other folx who identify as trans men. We have all visited this location for Wednesday night at the woods. The bouncers profiled us as straight men and informed us Wednesday is a "ladies' night so men aren't allowed in". To make matters worse, your bouncers refused to have a conversation with us and instead insulted us and banned us indefinitely for attempting to address their blatant disregard for trans ppl. I have spoken to the host who has apologized for this treatment but do not feel like she is the wrong for the way we were treated last night. This has everything to do with the establishment and the people you've hired to police identities and gender. What may have started as a policy to limit men from disturbing queer women has now become a policy that bars transgender folx from "queer" spaces. I do not plan on returning to this space despite the years I've spent returning and will take steps to ensure my community knows this is no longer a safe space for queer identifying people, just people your establishment thinks are women. It's insane to think that a cisgendered white woman can go in on a Wednesday night but now a transgender person. read more

Good music, I did not have any problem with getting drinks from the bar. That could also be due to the fact that I always tip my bartenders and I order easy straight to the point drinks. Good looking people although I think this would be more fun during the week and you won't have to elbow everyone. Remember this is in Williamsburg so expect that type of crowd. read more

The rudest staff I've experienced at a bar in Brooklyn. Was sitting outside and went to the bathroom. As I was walking back to the table outside they stopped me from going outside, but my friends were outside. So one of the staff comes up to me and said she'll go tell them and she was super nice about it, and I cooperated and stayed by the door. Now I've been told that the staff that went to tell my friends said to them "your friend is out there making a scene" when I was just asking to go back to the table to grab my stuff. Completely uncalled for. I then was let in by another bouncer and I sat down to eat the rest of my food. We then proceeded to get yelled at by the bouncer as we were eating "you need to leave if you are finished eating" when we were clearly still eating and other people on other tables were not eating. They created a situation out of nothing, and made the situation worst than it needed to be. Never coming back here again. read more
