We decided to visit the Falls today as it is only about a half hour from our current campground…read more You do have to have a state of Michigan recreation pass you can either buy an annual pass or just the day pass which we did which was $12 for out-of-state It is only about a quarter mile walk back through the woods, bring some bug spray and you'll get a decent view of the fall, but if you really want to get a little closer, you'll need to take the pretty long ramp way, which is wheelchair friendly to get all the way down to a huge viewing platform to get the picture that we took The path is all wide and paved, and even on a Thursday mid morning, it was pretty busy Today was a little marked by the fact that there is a lot of smoke and ash from the Canadian wild fires drifting over into the upper Peninsula, but we still were able to get a decent view Parking was free, although the lot is not very large so plan accordingly. There is also pretty limited cell phone service, from Verizon anyway, on the way out here so make sure you've got your maps downloaded. Clean restrooms are at the entrance to the trail as well

Visitors walk a short gravel trail before descending the 168 steps to the very bottom of the waterfall. There are a few viewing platforms if you don't want to go down that far (or need a break to catch your breath on the way up). The waterfall is magnificent, especially after it's been raining and it's at full flow. Great spot for photos.

When I told Tony the rates on the website were different from what she was telling me she told me they don't advertise their half-day rental. What a joke! To put the icing on this over priced cake when she asked me if I wanted to buy the insurance I asked what it covered. She told me if the machine was damaged I could still pay up to $700 worth of repairs. That's what your $35 insurance buys the chance to still pay money if someone crashes into while on the trail. Bring your own helmet cause those too are over priced at $25 a pop. In short, look elsewhere and save your money. We came to the UP to enjoy the freshwater and these guys are too salty on their ATV/UTV prices!

We heard so many great things about this zoo and decided to give it a try. The tickets were $17 per…read moreadult and children 2 and under are free. They also charge different prices for the feed as well. This zoo was super cool. They have a little tropical house with different animals inside. The sloth was super cute and the bats were cool. They had animals that I have never seen before as well. On the outside there are trails that lead you to different areas. Everything is fenced off and there are signs as to what you can feed. They also have a parakeet house which we paid $2 for the kids to get sticks to feed them. This was the best part and I strongly suggest doing this. There were so many different animals to see. We saw some different types on the trail as well. It was super quiet and a nice nature walk. I really enjoyed it. We only stayed for an hour because it started raining but it is really easy to get through it in an hour.

The refuge area ( separate for adult males, adult females and cubs) seems large and natural enough to provide a comfortable refuge to the bears. There is a beautiful serene lake on the property and felt very peaceful spending some time there. Though we enjoyed watching the bears, the experience seemed overpriced and a little unfriendly. We paid $30 for the car( only cash allowed) and then there was additional $4 for the bag of apples and $10 for the photoshoot with the cub.for the area the ranch covers and average time spent there , I feel at-least one pic or the bag of apples could be included in the $30 ticket price. The instructions at the photo-booth about the cost of recapturing a pic seemed borderline rude to me. I understand that people can get particular about their pics but I am sure there are friendlier ways to get your point across: Most of the trails around the bears enclosures do not have any signs, and we only found text about the ranch and the bears at the very end. All in all, can be a good spot for kids and bear enthusiasts. Nor for people who are looking for a safari kind of experience.

You get to pet and play with them for approximately 30 minutes, then you watch a video about the Alaskan races so you have a better understanding of how they work, how the dogs are raised, super helpful video! Laura is super accomplished and has great stories about these dogs and the races they have run so bring your questions! You then take a short walk back into the woods where the Guide reviews the adult dogs skills and examples of some of the race experiences that they have. It really is a very impressive place and you are honestly doing a great service and that you are helping to socialize these dogs. You can book online on their website in advance or we were able to just walk in at the appropriate time on a weekday You do need to allocate about an hour and a half for the entire experience and it looks like they take up to 45 people.
