Today I went to Woolpack pub and got truly DISAPPOINTED. I am registered in an app called freedrinkpubs, as some of you might know, some pubs are registered there and this weekend they were suppose to offer one drink to whoever had the voucher.... Anyway, I walked a long way to get there and finaly get to know this pub, as I got in and talked with the barmaids about the voucher they immediately said NO, without giving any explanation AT ALL, they were EXTREMELY RUDE with me and it was a very UNPLEASANT situation. This is not the way to treat a potential client, and no one at all! Wish you bad luck and hopefuly I wont have to pass through your door any time soon. read more

Got to love Yelp for teaching more about this pub than I learned in my experience there....It was such a nice day that we went straight to the back patio which was a chill and laid back place to have a drink on a Sunday afternoon. It was not the overwhelming scene that you sometimes find in an outdoor place on a nice afternoon. Excited to go back for food and checking out the interior. read more

I'll probably always associate the Woolpack with being an after-work pub, but that's not to say it's a bad one. After a handful of visits, including one work party where we rented out the upstairs room for the evening, I think it ticks all the boxes for me. The food is better than most, as is the service. It always seems to be packed, even on a weeknight. I am really enjoying the exploration of Bermondsey Street. There's always a new fun place to see. read more

This place serves good food and has a good variety of beer on tap, from Kirin, Leffe to Hoegarden all of your big names are there. It is very relaxing while being busy. Good people watching either sitting at the window watching people walk by on Bermondsey or in the pub which has a good crowd at all times. The Woolpack also has a twitter account and their daily specials can be seen there. I can't wait to try out the beer garden in the back. read more

if you're on Bermondsey Street, you're cool. 1.5 stars for the location. It was a little nippy, so we tried finding a seat towards the back because the place was packed. However, as we went walked towards the back we discovered an outdoor gardenish area with a lot of seating. The place was teeming with people (in a good way). We had to overlook the slightly below optimum temperature and go for the outdoor garden seating. The crowd is very young; and the non-single patrons brought their babies along. The place was compulsively full and packed with energy. Singles were busy eyeing each other as was our single friend, so there you go singles - nice place with a lotta potential on a supercool street. The orders are placed at the counter, you need to reference your table number (which is engraved on a little metal plate at the edge of the table). We missed it, so there's a good chance one might. The food comes quickly. I ordered the classic burger. Well cooked. Fresh. Delicious fries. Cold chilled cider. Well worth the visit. read more

Nice relaxed ambience, full of cool-looking young folk. Decent choice of wines and beers, though not cheap. Managed to find a seat despite it being Saturday night, so thumbs up. Recommended. read more

Great spot for lunch, or after work drinks. Great burgers, fish and chips, and bangers and mash. I've eaten there a few times. The service can be sketchy, but everyone is friendly, the food is always tasty, and the staff always do their best. Good experiences definitely exceed the poor! Cheers! read more

You'll have to wait a while on a Sunday for at bake but the roast is worth it and they don't time you like The Garrison opposite. Dog friendly as well which is always a good extra star from me. read more

This pub has a great beer garden. Service can sometimes be slow but that's mainly because it's so busy on some days (esp Thurs or Fridays). But defo worth searching out if eating near Bermondsey Street. A regular haunt of mine when I was around area. read more

I really liked the Woolpack on my first visit for a quick glass of wine, and was especially impressed with their outdoor space, which I imagine gets pretty heaving in the summer. I'll write a proper review once I've eaten there :) read more

Perfect neighborhood bar. The fish and chips were the best I had my whole trip. Full of young people hanging out on a bank holiday, a great atmosphere. Beautiful, antique tiles on the walls and burgundy painted ceilings make this place feel cozy. If I lived here I would go to Woolpack often. read more

Ok pub on Bermondsey Street. The food is standard pub fair, nothing exciting or out of the ordinary. Cooked to an ok standard. Reasonably lively in the evening. Staff aren't the friendliest! read more

I've been here a few times with work colleagues, nice for an early evening after work drink, sunny garden (when the sun's out of course!) Tiny gents toilet though, a bit intimate! There is great selection of beers and the food is typical pub food but nice, although a bit pricey. There's a lot of seating, including an upstairs and the astro turf beer garden with quite a lot of seating (just need a big screen and a couple of goals) . Nice pub atmosphere, the staff are generally OK but seem to get a bit cranky when it's busy. A couple of times when I've been the card machines have not been working, so take plenty of cash. read more

This is a great traditional pub in Bermondsey Street. Quite unlike the likes of The Garrison (which is opposite), this pub is more traditional although still serves food which is more refined than some of the things you would find on a pub menu in the 80s and 90s. I have had tapas plates, burgers and sandwiches which have all been excellent. It is quite a bit cheaper than some of the smarter restaurants/gastro-pubs in the area and is definitely where you want to go if you are starving and desperate for a good pint. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming but by no means pretentious. They have recently added a large outside area which is great for summer and warm spring/autumn evenings or afternoons. read more

The Woolpack is an excellent place to get a decent beer and good food. It has undergone a recent facelift, including the beer garden which is one of the best Bourgeois hangouts I've ever seen in London. The drinks are competitively priced and as such can get rather busy after working hours. All in all, a very good place to have a beer. read more

Worst roast i have ever eaten!!!!!! Seven of us ate here today and all had similar problems. Veg cold, cauliflower that looked dirty, yorkshire puds colder than outside - how is that possible. Potatoes not cooked on inside and one slice of average grade beef all for £13. Complained to the girl who brought our food and she was very apologetic and they refunded our money - did not warrant an appearance from the manager although we asked to speak to him. All well and good refunding our money, but being served food that bad ruined our Sunday afternoon. We definitely will not be back! read more

This is my local and I love it. Having moved to London 3 months ago I was surprised and pleased to see the number of pubs in this great city. I discovered the Woolpack about a week into my stay and have been going back ever since. It is a really great Sunday afternoon pub where you can spend a lazy few hours in the garden out the back (if the weather is good) or lounge in one of the booths on the ground floor. Upstairs the roof is decorated like a Roman cathedral. The food is really tasty and reasonably priced (the chicken salad is a fav) and they have a great roast on Sunday just make sure you get there early though because they sell out! Must also mention the Pimms, which is made in the traditional English way with loads of fruit, plus both mint and cucumber which you don't always find at other pubs. I always bring visitors to the Woolpack and they always leaving wishing it was their local too. read more

Pretty decent pub. They have a great selection of ales and some good food options. The atmosphere is always on the verge of cosy and lively and staff are really friendly people. Totally recommend trying the duck and cherry pie, I know it sound gross, but it's mouth-watering delicious. read more

I went to this pub today and sat in the garden, with my partner and another couple of friends. We went to the bar to order lunch - since they were not specific whether or not there was any table service - and the lady who served us demanded us to tell the number of the table before going any further. Although it seemed very unfriendly, my friend went over to the garden (far from the bar) to get the table number. In the meantime - since it was very busy and I didn't lose any time - I started doing the orders, and the lady said in a very rude way that she wouldn't talk to me if I didn't have the table number - as if she was speaking to someone that was causing a problem instead of someone just spending some nice time with their friends in a pub on a Sunday. I flagged her behaviour as an inappropriate way to treat a customer who had gently waited in a queue and followed her request for the table number, and she started lecturing me in front of my friend, saying she wouldn't take any orders from any of us. Then to our surprise, when we asked to speak to the manager, she said she was the manager herself, and requested us to leave the pub! The overall experience was awful. This pub clearly isn't keen on treating their customers in a gentle and friendly way - attributes that are common to all good restaurants and pubs. read more

Good terrace but regrettably that's all it has as positives. Awful service and for me its what counts in pub. Takes long, service is rude and not really helpful. Normally you must beg for a beer and also it takes so long. Last time asked for a burger all I got was without a table no burgers - got a table 5 mins came back kitchen was closed. .. As a best alternative with a terrace and with much better service and food I recommend the Millers 2 mins walking distance read more

Always super busy here, but worth waiting for a seat - especially fantastic when the sun is shining, as there's a big outdoor eating area round the back. Particularly love that it's dog friendly here! Often come here for a roast and a pint on a Sunday, it's located on trendy Bermondsey street. Maybe not extensive vegetarian options, but there's always something. read more

Reserved an area in the Woolpack for a work event and we spent a considerable amount from 5.30pm to midnight. The waiter was excellent (I won't name the bearded guy but he is fantastic!) however two drinks were accidentally spilt before the waiter had a chance to serve them. A member of our party apologised - I stress that this was early in the night, no drunkeness - but we were asked to pay for the two drinks again. Considering the amount we spent all night, and that we are a local big business who frequent the venue, you would think the management would waive the price of two pints. No, the waiter was forced to charge 11£. Leaves a bitter taste and a reluctance to return. Pity. read more

This was formally a great pub. I went here with 6 friends and by early morning all of us had upset stomachs, only 3 actually ate there., and we did not drink enough for it to be a violent hangover. The beer is flat and stale, I would guess the lines have not been cleaned for a while. The food is very mediocre and expensive given what it is. It is a real shame as the beer garden is lovely, but I would definitely say don't risk the sloppiness on cleanliness and service. read more
