Charming historic hotel, the closest one you can get to Phillips Exeter Academy (just a 4-5 minute…read morewalk). Rooms are on the small side, and you definitely feel like you're in an old historic building; however, the beds are comfortable, heating system is effective without being overly loud or breezy, and the bathrooms are nicely updated. Not much storage for clothes -- no chest of drawers, and the only shelves we could use were in the bathroom. Wi-fi is free but not superfast. There are adequate power outlets throughout the room (on the wall, and also as part of a lamp and an alarm clock). TV service is pretty basic; no premium movie channels or Chromecast ability. Keurig machines are standard, which are a nice touch. No fridge or safe. The lobby and lounge areas are beautiful, as is the attached restaurant, Epoch. Complimentary continental breakfast includes bagels (with a toaster), prepackaged waffles, cereals, pastries, fruit, yogurt, coffee/tea, milk, and a few juices. Coffee was quite good. They routinely put out really good cookies in the afternoon. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. The first time we stayed here, I felt that some kind of fragrance in the room was making my eyes feel very dry, so I spoke to the front desk ahead of our second stay. They assured me that they use fragrance-free detergent for the sheets, but housekeeping does spray air freshener, so I asked for that not to be done -- and I had no problem this time. Plenty of free parking on the street in front of the hotel, as well as a large lot in the back. 2 Tesla chargers and one ClipperCreek charger (with a J-1772 plug) are available for guests, but it's $25 per charge (presumably no matter how much electricity you use).

Josiah’s Meetinghouse

Perfect venue for a New Hampshire style wedding. Rustic farmhouse in a wooded setting with…read moreatmospheric romance. Two story, lofted indoor space with full bar, plus outdoor porches, patio, and ceremony-ready gazebo. The managers help plan events but hosts may DIY the meetinghouse decor as early as the night before! I attended a summer wedding here. Staff provided coordinating and bartenders but every other vendor was hired by the bride and groom. They gave us space to prep and store appetizers, which was clutch. Josiah's Meetinghouse is along a major route, which makes it easy to find but adds traffic sounds to ceremonies outside. Cranking the music helped our party drown it out. As long as they're not busy, they're pretty generous with time.

We just attended a weekend Wedding at Josiah's. The Venue itself is nice enough but there are a few…read morenegatives. First; Parking. Be prepared for a hike. An uphill one. Second; Parking Lot Lighting. It's an obstacle course out there in the dark. Third; terrible acoustics. A lot of this is probably on the band but; the sound level and quality were agonizing, at times. Fourth; Josiah's Management has made a decision that it's a good idea to shoehorn advertising into every opportunity on the Dance Floor. Neon Lights continuously flash their logo across the wedding guests. The epitome of tackiness and tastelessness. I've never seen anything like it. I'm not sure if it shows up in photos but; it sure was an eyesore in person. Overall, an enjoyable night, as Weddings usually are but; I sure wouldn't recommend Josiah's Meetinghouse. Especially for an evening affair with mixed age attendees.

I had my wedding reception at The View in September and it was absolutely perfect! I planned the…read moreevent on a short timeline and Donna was great to work with throughout the process - very responsive and accommodating. Of course the view of Pepperrell Cove is breathtaking, but the real star of the show here is the food. We were able to custom tailor the menu to be exactly what we wanted to serve, and it was all made on-site from fresh ingredients - something that is not easy to find at event venues. My family is Italian, from New York and hard to please when it comes to food, and they were all raving about every single dish that was served. Donna's assistance leading up to the event in coordinating with vendors and her hands-on presence during event night made the process seamless. I didn't have a wedding planner / day-of coordinator, and ended up not needing one - she made everything happen perfectly, even making sure our elderly guests had easy access to their seats. I couldn't recommend The View more for a wedding!

Being a NH local, as soon as we toured The View we knew it was the venue for us. Donna & team made every step of the process exceed expectations - from our tasting to the wedding day it was everything we could have hoped for and more. The food was incredible, thank you Chef Eides! We had people complementing it for weeks after the wedding (the house made lemon cheesecake, wow). We wish we could go back and re-live our day over and over again because it was that good. The service and execution that Donna, Eides, and the entire Pepperrell Cove staff offer is next level. We can't recommend this venue enough. Thank you SO MUCH for making it the best day of our lives. Taylor & Justin Jones
