It's a little confusing at first. The Bistro appeared to be the nicest, indoor option. It wasn't super busy around 7pm on a Monday. A handful of tables were occupied but plenty of room for walk ins on a Monday night. Our server was so friendly and bubbly. A sweet girl from NH. We chatted all things New England and Kittery. Her service was on point. My hubby and I decided to share all food, to try more. We started with the seasonal salad with the maple vinaigrette. I was hesitant at first but it was delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the Oysters Rockefeller and the traditional Mussels. They were both fantastic. I liked that the mussels sauce wasn't overly garlicky like a lot can be. Simplistic and salty. For our entree we shared the New York strip. I've never had a steak quite like this. Instead of heavily seasoning, like nearly every other steakhouse, it tasted like this steak was marinated. It was simplistically delicious. A little char, a little acidity, and a savoriness of rosemary. Gosh it was just so dang good! The broccolini was heavily peppered, not bad but just be aware. The potatoes au gratin were also unlike anything I've ever had. I don't even like French onion soup but it tasted like the most delicious French onion soup I'd ever had. The cheesy oniony potatoes were simply to die for. I know that I'm going to be craving them once I return home. I wish they'd package these things and ship them! We toasted our anniversary with the Brut champagne. Lighter than the average and not nearly as pungent of how Bruts normally are. Highly recommend coming here and trying a little bit of everything!

From start to finish, from the very first time we viewed the venue, until months later- our wedding was seamless, amazing, and most importantly, stress free. The Red Barn was the first venue we looked at. We knew we wanted an outdoor ceremony, outdoor space for cocktail hour, and a beautiful, big room. The Red Barn checked all the boxes. We put down our deposit the very next day as we knew this was a venue we did not want to sleep on! Planning was SO easy and straightforward. As soon as we booked, we got set up with the amazing Alex, who was going to be our day of coordinator. She was communicative, helpful, and patient. She responded quickly to every annoying query I had, she kept us updated with our timeline of planning, and she was understanding when oopsie- we missed the tasting we were supposed to go to. She graciously set us up at the next one with no questions or drama. The planning process was very smooth due to Alex's expertise. The rehearsal was stress free and straightforward. The day of our wedding was more than we could ask for. Literally everything went to plan due to Alex being so on top of everything. She was kind to the many personalities in both of our families and felt more like a friend to us by the end of night. I cannot say enough good things about the Red Barn as a venue for a wedding. It is absolutely gorgeous, I feel like we did not need too many decorations as the venue itself is stunning. The food was delicious! During cocktail hour, it felt like there were so many servers with so much food, on top of the stunning cheese and fruit display. The kitchen was also very helpful and sensitive to the allergies in our group- one being my husband who had a nut allergy. The drinks and bartenders were fabulous- we told Alex that our group drank a lot of espresso martinis and the bartenders were ready when we started ordering them. AND they were delicious to boot. The staff was fabulous! All of the servers were professional and personable. The price for everything and the many options for food and drink were well suited to many budgets. I could gush for many more paragraphs about how amazing this venue is. Alex and the crew have made the Red Barn into a well-oiled machine. I cannot say anything bad about our experience and I know I can attribute that to them. Our guests are still talking about our venue months later. If you want to have the most amazing wedding day at a beautiful venue with wonderful people, do yourself a favor and book the Red Barn. You will not regret it. Thank you Alex and crew for the most memorable day and a fantastic experience!

Every single guest commented on how incredible she was-- if I could give her more than 5 stars I would.

This quaint gastropub doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside, this seems like a place where locals are regulars and tourists are happy to get a table at this "no reservations" joint. It's dark inside (no photos) and a little cramped. The bartenders are serving double duty mixing and pouring drinks while also playing DJ and spinning vinyl records. And it felt like everyone inside was exactly where they wanted to be at the moment...enjoying each other's company and sharing drinks and food. The menu is about the size you would expect from a small kitchen - a fair number of appetizer dishes meant for sharing, and a handful of entrees, ranging from casual to a bit more refined. The grilled cheese and tomato soup ($19) was made with a hearty artisan bread that hit the spot on a chilly evening. Similarly, the coq au vin ($26) was classic comfort food, with perfectly cooked smashed fingerling potatoes surrounded by a rich, decadent reduction sauce smothering meaty mushrooms and soft pearl onions. Note, the coq au vin did take a long time to prepare, so not the dish to order if you're in a hurry. A couple of not-too-sweet lemon ricotta donuts (with chocolate sauce) was a great way to end the meal.

Well, I'm happy that they were because dinner here was SOOOO good! The bartender helped us choose a bottle of champagne to start. We shared everything. One of each of the deviled eggs each. The maple cranberry was interesting. The sour cream chive one was to die for! The ricotta gnocchi was elegant and fluffy. The sauce made it over the top. The ribs were good, but I'm a Midwest girl. They just don't compare to back home. The clam linguine was seasoned perfectly. It was quite filling. We ended with the Apple Olive Oil cake with maple ice cream. The cake itself was quite dense and dry. The ice cream helped. I would not order this dessert again. Service was quite SLOWWWW, and for no reason as they weren't very busy while we were there. There were long gaps between courses and then once we were finished we kind of just sat there for a while. The food was worth it but something is not running efficiently and could be improved. Still giving 5 starts because it was so good and everyone was welcoming.
