The bathroom had no counter space. I was forced to pile up my personal products on back of the toilet

This inn is located in a pretty New England town, Exeter, New Hampshire. I have stayed here for business trips. I liked the decor. The house is beautiful and the staff was helpful. I really had no complaints except there was no chair to match the desk in the room and I had work on my lap top I wanted to get done. Also, the bathroom had no counter, which made it slightly difficult to navigate. I think these are reasonable things to want and need in a hotel room. The restaurant in the hotel was excellent pre-Covid but is just kind of mediocre now. They stopped serving breakfast. I would recommend this hotel but you may need to ask for a chair. It was very reasonably priced. It was about $ 150 per night for a single room.

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. You think you would be checking into a lovely, historical inn but BEWARE. This is a dump. We checked in, left our luggage for the entire day and came back late in the evening and as we were about to go to bed we saw that our blankets were stained (see picture) and the sheets seemed like they were not clean. We checked the reception to ask what was going on but no one was there! The room is very dusty and the vents of the heater/airconditioner had very thick dust. We didn't bother to turn it on. Also when we came back for the evening, at the lobby and all the way to the 3rd floor, we could smell gas. We alerted front desk and were told that gas is odorless! Hello? Are you kidding? She said what we're smelling is exhaust. So that's supposed to make it better? Do not come to this place. And oh, breakfast is a joke

We had a nice stay here on a quiet Sunday night at the end of June. We got a good, last minute, price on Expedia. The building was really beautiful outside. The inside was dated but nice. It is clear that they have done work to try to give rooms a more modern feel despite the age of the Inn. Our 3rd floor room was charming and had character with a gabled window and slanted ceilings. The TV was oddly placed, as was a shelf by the bathroom door. Both things were head bumping hazards but, again, it's an old building and wasn't originally designed with flat screen tvs in mind. The restaurant/bar was closed for our stay but looked like a lovely place to dine. Exeter itself is an interesting little town with a lot of history. We enjoyed strolling through the area and reading the dated house places and historical signs while we walked to dinner at a nearby restaurant. It was a quick ride to Hampton beach area in the morning for our beach day.

What a lovely inn this was. The inn was built in 1932 and has a beautiful Georgian façade. It is like stepping back in time, but with all the modern amenities of today. Kendra, at the front desk, was so welcoming. She gave each of us a token for a free drink in the bar or restaurant. We were given a Traditional room overlooking the garden as we requested. However, the toilet in the bathroom had a problem. They tried to fix it, but decided that it was not repairable at the moment. Cindy, at the front desk, very graciously offered to move us to a Classic guestroom. This room was considerably larger than the Traditional guest room. It also had a very comfortable king size bed, executive desk, plus a small sitting area with an oversized chair and table with two chairs. We had two closets. The bathroom was very modern with a walk-in shower. They only problem in the shower was it was difficult to regulate the temperature of the water - it would get hot and then cooler. In the morning, my husband had gone out to get some fresh-baked bagels. While he was gone, the fire alarm went off. I have to say it was deafening. Thank goodness I was dressed, so I called the front desk and was told to leave the room immediately and come to the lobby, which I did. The staff checked us off to account for all the guests. The alarm was so loud that we went outside and stood under the portico, as it was raining. Shortly thereafter, the fire department arrived. It seems there was a leak in the roof and the electrical wires got wet and set off the alarm. Once the alarm was silenced they allowed us back in the hotel. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at the Inn and recommend it as a nice place to stay.

Great place. Old but updated. Clean and quaint. Reminded me of a college dorm room - bathroom amenities were all new and shower was great!

I love The Gilmore Girls and this inn makes me think that that's what the show's Dragonfly Inn was trying to capture- like the perfect New England B&B. Breakfast was delicious too and so welcomed after having to eat in airports for too long. The guys whipped up tasty treats for us and really made each night's stay feel magical.

The bed and pillows were divine, some of the best we have enjoyed a night's sleep on, and we have stayed in many fine hotels. Our walk-in shower was also quite wonderful. Even though breakfast was not included as part of our stay, all we had to do was walk around the corner to a bakery that offered espresso and breakfast items. My main complaint with our room was that we were at the front of the inn, which exposed us to street traffic (there was a fair amount of traffic for a small town!), but our room was also above their small private dining room. One evening the party downstairs didn't end until about 1:00 am. Talking and laughter woke me several times.

So I was pleasantly surprised by how awesome Around the Corner is. The proprietors, Rita and Peter, really make everyone feel at home. They introduce guests to each other and create an atmosphere where it's actually a pleasure to meet the other people staying there. I have dietary restrictions that Rita (the breakfast chef) was able to gracefully accommodate. The rooms are beautiful, with lots of detail, and plenty of books to borrow while you're there. Very peaceful and quiet at night. Each room has a window air conditioner/fan unit which helps keep the temp comfortable. I got to explore Exeter and the surrounding towns. Some highlights: the Fly By Cafe (downtown Exeter, has a UFO theme); Wallis Sands State Park, a peaceful beach; Folsom Tavern, where George Washington had a meal. I always felt comfortable asking for recommendations or sharing my thoughts on what I'd seen with the proprietors and other guests. Very un-snobby place. A couple quirks: The parking situation is pretty crowded and that can get stressful if the B&B is full. Also, be aware that some of the bathrooms are shared--be sure to check in advance if having your own bath is important to you. Overall, such a lovely and fun place to spend a few days!

My wife and I just finished a wonderful winter escape at the Blue - Inn on the Beach for our…read moreanniversary. The drive to Plumb Island through Newburyport was the perfect introduction to our romantic, north shore getaway. Being from Phoenix, we look forward to our cold, winter adventure each year and neither of us had been anywhere north of Boston before. Before our arrival, communication with the Blue was informative and hand a personal feel. Obviously, the Blue caters to summer beach-goers, and the reserved parking area near the hotel would definitely be a huge plus for folks competing for parking spots, but in winter, there are very few people or cars on the entire island. The Blue is a quaint little hotel nestled on the beach in a neighborhood of New England beach homes. We were happily greeted at the front desk by Blue staff and the General Manager. They tendered to our every need and surprised us with a fabulous fruit and chocolate anniversary gift waiting for us in the room. The room was beautiful with a classic and modern beach feel. Sliding glass doors open up to a wooden deck with a fabulous view of the Atlantic Ocean. We could hear the crashing waves while sitting inside beside the gas fireplace to read. It was magical! Also magical was the bed! We haven't slept that well in years! The bed was so comfortable and my wife loved the pillows so much that she bought the very same ones for home the day we returned. And don't forget the two hot tubs! There is nothing quite as enjoyable as relaxing in a steaming, bubbling hot tub while it's snowing all around you. Honestly, the "hot tubs available" filter was probably what highlighted the Blue to me during my search for this trip. One hot tub is on the second floor deck, overlooking the beach and the second is hidden under the pine trees at the end of a short sidewalk across the street from the main building. Both were large enough for probably 6 people, clean and well maintained. Again, it was February so we had them all to our crazy selves the whole week. The beach is beautiful! There is direct, private access from the second floor of the Blue, via a wooden boardwalk. The beach is sandy with very few rocks. I didn't see any seaweed or anything washing up on shore, but it was February, so I didn't expect to see a whole lot of anything living coming out of the water. Every morning we enjoyed a beautiful sunrise over the ocean while we drank some local coffee delivered direct to the room. Oh yeah, breakfast! Each morning the staff dropped off and adorable wicker basket with fresh, local breakfast offerings plus that wonderful carafe of coffee. We had different breakfast each day, to include quiche, overnight oats, fresh fruit, biscuits, and bacon. Just the right amount for the two of us and we couldn't wait to see what breakfast surprise would arrive each morning. Although Plumb Island may feel remote from the business of the Boston-metro area, the location was great for dipping down to Salem without hitting any traffic, or popping up to New Hampshire for a sleighride through the forest. One morning, after a small nor'easter blew through, our SUV got stuck in the parking lot snow. No worries! The General Manager of the Blue came out to hail down a plow and personally helped push us out. Now that's service! Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Blue -Inn on the Beach to anyone looking for a romantic beach getaway. If you're looking for a less Metropolitan vacation with the proximity to get to Boston in under an hour, the Blue can't be beat. We will definitely be coming back. Maybe even in the summer next time!
