The water feature doesn't work. But there are still scores of screaming kids that run up and down the concrete remains. The escalators to and from the parking frequently are broken. And yet they continue to charge outrageous amounts for the parking, now through centralized pae stations rather than meters which are unattractively bagged with bright yellow plastic bags. TL/dr: One would expect more from a high and neighborhood common space.

Parking is free here. I have been here a few times throughout the years. I drive by a couple time a month, but don't stop in the plaza much. I recently came here to check out Bada Coffee. It replaced Starbucks. There's a nice fountain outside which is great to watch & listen to while sipping coffee. The shops here are: Bada Coffee Ralphs Dollar Tree Jack's Pizza Great Clips Peninsula Urgent Care Dentists of South Bay Sally Beauty Supply Cleaners Taco Bell is at the corner of Calle Mayor & PCH. Not sure how this plaza got its' name, but there is a huge Plaza Mayor that was completed in Madrid, Spain in 1619. That plaza looks to be so different from this one. Looking on Google, there is no count of how many "Plaza Mayor"are in the world! It simply translates to "Main Plaza" but is usually a central public square. Signage with the list of stores here is outdated. They need to update them.

Originally, it was anchored by Kmart/Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) & Bally Total Fitness, & both were replaced by supermarkets. Tenants (non-exhaustive list): Bank of America Dragon Martial Arts H Mart Groceries & More Kitakata Ramen Ban Nai Michaels O'Reilly Auto Parts Papa Johns Pizza Sprouts Farmers Market The Beach Hut The Salvation Army Family Store I used to work out with my mentor at Bally's & didn't come to Vista Plaza for anything else until OSH replaced Kmart, but it was short-lived since they didn't even last a year, though I picked up some wonderful veggie starter plants. And later Sprouts when Bally's closed. I had an unfavorable review of Sub Club Italian Deli (Review #536) for older deli meats sale that they were trying to pawn off due to the pandemic lockdown; my fam got sick from the deli meats. I had to remove it because it was owned by a colleague, & didn't want any repercussions against my spouse. This spot was later replaced about 2 years ago by Kitakata Ramen Ban Nai (refer to Review #965), a change for the better. H also took her taekwondo belt test at Dragon Martial Arts. The main studio on Sepulveda Blvd. where she took her lessons was a smaller space, so it was held at the Vista Plaza location. My daughter's godmother & godsister has been thrifting a lot since the pandemic lockdown & loves shopping at The Salvation Army Family Store. I was fortunate enough to have hand-me-downs from her godmother during infancy & toddler years, my niece during elementary & middle school, & my esthetician's petite adult daughter for her middle & high school years, saving me thousands of dollars & recycling clothes for Mother Earth. We're usually here at their specialty sales like "fill-a-bag" or 2 day promo in January &/or summer. Vista Plaza isn't dense like some others in the South Bay, but it's popular enough with 2 markets: Sprouts & H Mart at the helm.

And what a great discovery this place is: there's a Salvation Army, a bank, Sprouts, a nail salon, a bakery and a travel agency, to name a few. Parking is plentiful, particularly on the east side along Hawthorne Blvd.; however, it can be cramped on the west side at Restaurant Row, particularly during lunch & dinner rush. The refreshed Village Del Amo is anchored by Hannam Chain Supermarket & BevMo! Beverages & More, with a slew of restaurants. It's quite unusual for a plaza to have more than 1 bank, & VDA has 4. Wells Fargo Bank is more mainstream than the other 3, whereas PCB Bank is a niche Korean-American community bank, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union is a member-owned cooperative for CA educational employees with higher savings yields & lower fees, U.S. Bank offers better APYs/specialized savings. Its easy access off Hawthorne & Torrance Blvds. & proximity to Del Amo Fashion Center makes this plaza a convenient spot for dining & shopping.

Not that you wouldn't be in a food coma with all that shit, but a Rite Aid is right at the south west corner, flanked by a Nekter juice bar and taco joint and Rita's wudder ice (for my Philly peeps). Nah, this place would suck if there wasn't a bar. Holy shit, there is. The Pitcher House is above Frou Frou clothing and next to Smash Burger (which has the best fries in town- check out THAT review). But don't bring your pets cause...oh hell, there's a Centinela Feed store too, a bank and the icing on the cake....PANDA EXPRESS!! Other than all this stuff, the place sucks.

A few spots already open are COSM, Cinepolis Luxury Theatre, out door bar with food in the middle of the food court, JD shoes, ICONIX GYM, and a few others. The service is good at all the businesses except Cinepolis Luxury Theatre, they have their own issues to fix with service quality. The prices are specific to each business and seem to be fair for the service and experience you receive. I'm really excited to see what this marketplace will become once it's fully opened.

It's such a delight to find this corner has finally been upgraded!…read more It used to be such a drabby place. The only place worth going to here was the 99c store, otherwise, there really was nothing else. Then demolition and construction started going up a year or so ago. Popular spots are now occupying and making the most of this prime space: The Habit, BurgerIM, Starbucks, Jersey Mike's. There's even a fitness center. And the good news is they did all this without having to compromise other businesses standing there beforehand: the pet store, UPS, 99c store. Last but not least, they didn't compromise the amount of parking available for all patrons despite all these new and popular trendy spots. And the project isn't done yet - it's looking like there's still some revamping going on. Looking forward to this corner's final look. It's a way overdue (and well-deserved) upgrade. I absolutely welcome this change.
