What happened to our beautiful open space here in Manhattan Beach? This used to be such a lovely upscale area to come and sit outside next to a water feature. Everything is dilapidated now. The water feature doesn't work. But there are still scores of screaming kids that run up and down the concrete remains. The escalators to and from the parking frequently are broken. And yet they continue to charge outrageous amounts for the parking, now through centralized pae stations rather than meters which are unattractively bagged with bright yellow plastic bags. TL/dr: One would expect more from a high and neighborhood common space. read more

We always park below and meet up here as there are many tables and seating areas that are never too crowded. The only thing that bugs me is that they do not offer a full time open restroom to wash up in. This is a nice outdoor shopping center, it's a mini-boutique of sort with various businesses, not nearly robust enough to consider a mall, shopping center or strip mall in the traditional sense of scope and size. In fact, if not for the Metlox sign and name I would mistaken it for just a bunch of independent businesses in the neighborhood retail community along Manhattan Beach Blvd. It has little branding or marketing that makes it cohesive as a shopping center. I'd recommend figuring out a way to provide free parking (and not just during the holidays) and maybe discounts or some sort of promotion to bring awareness out that this exists as a shopping center. There's good stores here, many are unique boutiques and others are chain or franchise locations of bigger businesses. There's food too. read more

Beware of the parking meter machines. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I called Manhattan Beach PD parking dispatch to send someone to assist. One parking attendant came and said this was not his lot and just put a note on the windshield. Then a Manhattan Beach policeman came. He told me the same thing and that the meters were "tricky". Fortunately I did have a receipt that I could prove I had paid money earlier in the day so I wrote on that. But in the end, I was out approximately $8. read more

Free parking during December, this nifty little center is an upscale shopping and eating destination. It is pricey, but it's clean and safe and you can't help but enjoy people watching. And if you visit at night, plan to sit around the fire brick chimney (a salute to the centers old pottery roots.) Nice little shopping plaza on Manhattan blvd. They have tons of great restaurants and nice open courtyard where you can enjoy the sun. My fav spots are the le pain and lemonade. For dinner I like Nicks. Easy parking downstairs that are metered. There's also another open lot the next block over. The ramps are quote tight so I prefer not to park at that one. read more

It's a nice little area to find a place to eat or walk around and do some shopping. For me personally, I love parking here and walking down to the beach! Don't have to deal with the hassle of finding parking near the beach and wait around stalking people to their cars. Their underground lot is fairly big and you're bound to find a spot. Pay with coins. Maybe I shouldn't be suggesting this as now all my parking spots will be taken the next time I head to the beach :( But after a nice time at the beach, you can walk back here and eat lunch or dinner before you head back home. And do some shopping! There's an American Apparel and True Religion here. read more

I love this place for the parking. There's short term upstairs and long term downstairs. Whenever I come to the area, I make a beeline for this lot. There's plenty to eat here, if you're not going to one of the surrounding places, and there's oftentimes a farmer's market out back. read more

Got the vegetarian bahn mi. It was delicious. The bread positively crackled when I bit into it - heads turned, and I was the envy of all.

Very nice and upscale local shopping center. There is two levels of underground metered underground parking. Lots of small shops, the Shade Hotel and several very nice restaurants. read more

The Metlox is a wonderful place to enjoy lunch and let your kids run around. There is a shallow water area that the kids like to run around in. It's shallow enough that I can play referee in it with my shoes on and stay dry. The water gets kind of gross (check out where it pools on the bottom), so it is not my favorite... But my son loves it. Parking is usually super easy for 75cents and hour. They now accept Credit Cards. I love to eat at Lemonade. It is healthy, affordable and casual. It's great to sit outside and be able to let my son roam a bit. Le Pain Quotidien is very popular. Nick's MB just opened up. I haven't been there, but they were busy last time I walked by. There is a juice bar if that is your thing. Waterleaf has cute stuff for your home. They set up a tiny sand toy for the kids to play with outside of their store. Papyrus will meet your paper needs. It's a cute store, but paper doesn't do much for me. My favorite thing to do here is to the Farmer's Market on Tuesday. It is my favorite in South Bay. It's only 1 block long, but the vendors are great. read more

I have been in and out of Manhattan Beach for years now. I have seen this little shopping center and never walked through it until the other day. This little nook looks like a lot of fun; there is a waterfall with beams extending into it, an outdoor fireplace, lots of shops, restaurants, fashion stores and a Coldstone Creamery. Manhattan Beach tends to have businesses that tend to the new and want of the Manhattan Beach socialites, I have nothing wrong with that. If I came back here it would probably be a cold winter evening to enjoy the outdoor fireplace while either having a hot drink from Starbucks a moments walk away or Ice Cream from Coldstone. read more

Easy, peasy place to park and walk. You can go to the beach, surrounding shops and eateries. I think you can pay for 3 hours instead of 2. It's better than trying to find street parking! Locals and visitors know what a pain it is to circle the streets in downtown Manhattan. Heads up: The video cameras do not work. Small plaza with shops, eateries and entertainment for kids. Always full with people. In the center is grassy area (fake grass) and a large fake pond that kids can play on. Had no idea it was meant for kids but apparently it is? Lots of kids playing on this cement obstacle in the middle of the plaza. They also have a mini train the rides around in circles so watch out! Nice place to chill and enjoy your lunch. They have some tables in the center as well under some trees. Convenient underground parking. Just don't come too late or you'll fight for a spot. read more

Great plaza with some of my fave restaurants like lemonade and Nicks. It's an open plaza with a few tables in the center so people can dine and soak up the sun rays. Place is always full of people eating out on the restaurants patios. There is an underground parking structure, but it is packed during lunch hours. Even local businesses use this structure. The lower level has all day parking meters. Just pay for however many hours you plan to stay. read more
