This is perhaps the most fantastic client service oriented yarn shop I have ever encountered. In addition, the finely curated selected of yarns is unparalleled. If you are wondering about my superlatives, I have been to yarn shops world- wide so I do have many for comparison sake. If you are a novice or an experienced knitter, you will find exactly the right instruction. Try out the yarn before you purchase, get help with creating patterns, and enjoy community with like minded people around the tables. Whatever you are needing; you'll always feel good when you are there.

    THIS is what they lost

Do NOT trust your beautiful & time consuming work to this shop. Well over a decade's work of work, & much of soul & life was with that piece - GONE. Took to this place for cleaning & blocking. They lost is. Never did take full responsibility - "oh we didn't get a tracking number & UPS can't locate. Oh - we can't find it." "Oh I know what goes into a work like this." NO - you don't know. Walked in to pick up a paltry sum for this loss - not a single person gave their apology. Also - they won't answer emails , even if you use the form on their site, they don't answer text messages & their voice mail is continuously full so you can't leave a message. I even called when they WERE there just to have it ring, pick -up & hang up. There are other, nicer yarn shops in Seattle. Use one of them.

Tacoma was out but the sweet sales associates offered to order or call Seattle. I overheard them on the phone confirming various sizes. So I thanked them & drove up to Seattle. I noticed the Seattle location didn't have the sizes I was told, I asked the guy in charge of frames/ stretchers and he claimed I asked for one size then showed me a different brand from what was confirmed over the phone, a heavy duty variety. When I expressed frustration of being told the wrong thing, he walked off pouting, didn't offer to order any for me like Tacoma did. Not wanting to leave empty handed I grabbed a couple off sizes so I can work. On my way to check out, I informed my friend of what just occured and placed the stretchers at the register. The clerk said "You need to check out over there, Sir." My flabbers were gasted! My monocle popped out! I said "Sir? I'm not a sir!". This was strange and shocking to me. So I went to the proper clerk saying "They just called me Sir. What part of me gives man? I've never been called a man." So yeah I'm mad confused as to why my petite, adorable self in pink & lilac got called a man by someone who would not appreciate being misgendered themselves.... On Pride weekend of all times. And why wasn't I offered to have the supplies ordered for me like in Tacoma? Basically I received a wild goose chase, a bad attitude, lied to about what I overheard confirmed on the phone, and casually misgendered by Seattle staff. Very sad since I prefer supporting local. The Tacoma shop is a vibe with kind, helpful staff. I'll stick with them and Jerry's Art a Rama online. Apparently several reviews report bad behavior from staff over the past year or so. Don't need the funky ahh attitude when I just wanna create.

I asked if there vintage spray cans were for sale and the (Asian) lady at the registered seemed bothered. I got a collection at home and wanted to know more. She then proceeded to tell me I could check the price on the bottom. Later I asked about the Ny Quill caps, and she didn't want to pull out all of them. She said "they all look the same different color". I wanted to see the difference so I asked her to pull them all out any way. I chose the one's I needed at the time. I also asked about other tools for the cans and she seemed dismissive, annoyed and bothered with an undertone voice of "I don't want to be working here". It seemed like a struggle to get info from her. At that point I wanted to just walk out but I came from another state and thought might as well just get everything here vs ordering online. I asked about my points and she said I can get a freebie. I asked to see the two different options and choose the black streaker. She literally showed me one and said they didn't have anymore and gave me the mop. It was the way she went about the whole interaction since I got there. I've been to many shops and art stores and usually the workers are chill but this experience was not that great. Like I said I like art primo one of my favorite stores been buying for at least 15 years or more. Good product customer service was wack, I think she may need some training or have the owner talk to her because it's not good for business.

However, it's worth it IMO! Weekends are busy and there's generally a wait. However, I opted to paint outside and got seated right away. They have a great selection of items to paint. I picked two jars. They have a variety of supplies that allowed me to bring my vision to life! The number of colors they have to select from is vast too. They have a wide range of brushes and tools, and I appreciated their two sizes of paint pen detail bottles--perfect for writing! Nicky was so helpful and accommodating. He reviewed how the pair a work and the process thoroughly but succinctly. He brought my chosen pieces out to the table since I had my dog with me. It is dog friendly outside! Not sure about inside. Check out was pretty seamless, and Erica did a great job with my checkout! The prices for the pieces are comparable to ones I saw at another similar establishment, which was good to see. The thing I loved most is the sheer number of needles and notions they carry: both singular sizes and also full sets from different vendors (Lykke, Chiaogoo, KP). You can spend hours here brainstorming a project and buying everything you need to start swatching. I bought some cute pine cone stitch markers, a skein from Juni and Si for some socks and an Addi needle (with which I'm already in love with and off to the races on a new project).
