Really cute hamburger place inside a reclaimed box car with attached game room, nicely clean bathrooms and a beer and wine garden at the end with nice seating area there as well. Parking is a challenge, but we parked elsewhere and walked over there. The smell of the delicious burgers had me drooling! Got the double patty with cheese Goldie burger and onion rings and my husband got the same with loaded tater tots. Sprite and water in a bottle for drinks...and we were all set. Our order came out pretty quickly and we enjoyed watching the kids run around excitedly and play the various games, whether it was skee ball, pinball, driving courses, riding the motorized animals...kids enjoy the most basic things to the maximum! Great idea for families! Nice park frontage, walking paths, etc. I'm going to have to tell my daughter in law to bring the kids here next time. They'd LOVE IT! The Goldie Burger was fantastic. They do have vegan options as well, so don't fret! Tots, fries and onion rings are excellent sides for your sandwich. The fella at the front counter was beyond pleasant, helpful, friendly and very attentive to every patron. Even went so far as to give extra free tokens to one family with 3 little ones since they spent so much there on their meals. I gave out free tokens to a lithe younger girl who was wearing what used to be my favorite sneakers growing up...Converse All-Stars! She had her mouth hanging open for a few minutes while mom said thank you for her...hey, old people don't place much arcade games I told them.... So enjoy! I was at Depot Park for a walk to get some steps in and view nature since the weather was pretty nice, and worked up an appetite. I was in the mood for a burger and walked into Goldie's. I have only had this place once when I first moved back. Per the pictures on Yelp, some menu items have increased, which is expected. I ordered a single cheeseburger, crinkle cut fries, and a side of the Goldie's sauce. The total came out to $13.75. I waited for about 5 - 8 minutes for the food. I did end up eating in the park. The burger is a thin smashburger and pretty huge. It had lettuce, red onion, pickles, and Goldie's sauce. The burger was good and the sauce is a tangy mustard relish type of sauce. I really liked the bun, it's like an everything seasoning bun. It was fresh and toasty. As for the crinkle cut fries, I really like the seasoning. Each fry was coated very well, but they were not cooked to my liking. While they were hot and fresh, the fries were still soft as if they needed to cooked a bit longer. Also I believe that for dipping the Cajun mayo would've a better dipping option over the Goldie's sauce just because the seasoning on the fries. Came here after watching Gators vs Hurricanes baseball game. (Go Canes, 13-6) and I'll say I enjoyed my cheeseburger very much. The interior was pretty cool. Food came out pretty quickly considering there seemed to be only two employees working. So here come my two complaints, like I said once we ordered food, it came out quickly but it still took a good minute to place your order as cashier kept going to the back to help out. They seem to need more employees. My only other complaint was my daughter's chicken tenders were crazy overcooked and kinda burnt, I only realized after she was almost done and I took a bite out of one of them. I was on my way to Tallahassee and decided to stop at a fun place in Gainesville for lunch. The Depot Park has a wine/beer restaurant, and a burger restaurant. Since the beer and wine place was closed for a private event, I decided to give Goldies a try. I ordered the 4 piece chicken tenders at the counter, and a can of diet Coke. I sat at a table on the porch and a couple minutes later, the tenders came. It came pretty hot and juicy with a side of the requested ranch sauce. The tenders were good and had an ample amount of breading, but found the seasoning was a bit salty. I found the ranch sauce was vegan, but it did have a decent flavor and was creamy. However, for 6.25 for 4 small pieces, I found it to be a bit expensive. The counter service was very friendly. The attendant was a bit busy at the back, but acknowledged me. After a minute, he was at the front and greeted me. My tenders were served to my table once it was ready. He asked if I needed anything else, but all were available at the counter. The dining area is pretty small with about 4-5 tables in an open aired porch. At least it was covered and had fans. There was a TV playing an animated movie, and they had a Florida gator kiddie ride for 50 cents. The kiddie ride was generously long (about 2-3 minutes) and gentle adults are also welcome to ride. The beer and wine place was next door, as well as a convenience store. At the park, there is a big playground and water area for the kids, and a pond with a fountain. The pond has real alligators relaxing there. There is a walking trail, but beware of the alligators, snakes, and biting bugs. Parking is free at the park, but can be cramped. Instead, you can park across the street and walk to the depot. Goldies is a nice burger joint at the Depot, and the kids seem to enjoy it as well. Next time, I will try the burgers, but I wish they had other burger meats other than beef. The service is friendly and while the dining area is small, the atmosphere looks cool. It's close to the university so it is a good place for the gators to chillax and enjoy. read more

I was over in Depot Park recently, and it was lunchtime so I figured I would sample the food that is offered in the area. Goldie's Burgers was the place to go it seemed, so that is what I went for. They get a lot of traffic from the park, so you will see a lot of skaters and other park residents showing up there. There are some tables and chairs in the room to sit at, but I did not stay around to sit in them and soak up the vibes of the place. Located on the North side of the park in a revamped railroad station, Goldie's does made-to-order burgers and other items that would fit in a counter-service establishment, including some fried seafood. I went for the double smash burger and an order of fries. My wait time was about 8-10 minutes, which is decent for something that is made while you wait. The burger was a good burger, nicely melted cheese on it and the Goldie Sauce was a nice touch. The fries are seasoned, and unfortunately had a bit of a fishy taste to them, which means they use the same oil for their seafood as they do for their fries. People with shellfish allergies should be aware of this, since one of the items they have is a shrimp po'boy. read more

While at Depot Park, I was surprised to find Goldies Burger located at The Depot Station; I didn't know I would like fries at the park this much. I immediately loved the open atmosphere, lunch food options, perfect for a day date, visiting the Cade Museum, or just at Depot Park (a.k.a Dog-friendly). Order at the counter, the staff was quiet yet very friendly when asked questions. The menu is excellent for a variety of land, ocean, and farm. The Snacks are perfect for the location. The Food: Fast and fresh, overall fried goodness. We had the crunchy Buttermilk-Fried Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard and tots and a Fried Shrimp Po'Boy with fries. Very fun little burger joint in Gainesville. We live in Ocala but we're traveling home from a trip and the kids needed dinner. So we were basically doing a blind search through google maps for anything that sounded good. First off let me tell you that this burger joint sits adjoining Depot Park which had a really cool playground and splash park (in season). The restaurant itself is inside what looks like at old train depot. I'm not sure if that's the case or if it was built to complement the theme but cool either way. Everything we ordered was made fresh and absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful with any questions we had about the menu. We especially enjoyed the tochos loaded tots. I had a shrimp po' boy and not a burger, but the po' boy was pretty solid: large, nice fried shrimp, and fairly good seasoning. Not New Orleans-good, but better than most outside of New Orleans. The ambience is pretty plain given the building but the girl working was very friendly and my order came up quickly so I have no complaints in general. Yes, they do not have air conditioning: to air condition this space would require also closing the large doors which would require a renovation insofar as what type of doors they have in place. Goldie's is located in Depot Park, what I consider one of Gainesville's best city parks. There's a giant playground for kids, walking trails, and it connects to the Gainesville-Hawthorne bike trail. There is plenty of seating inside - picnic tables. Warning: it gets very hot inside. There are fans to help it. I had the cheeseburger and added lettuce and tomato with a side of fries. It came quickly and tasted mouthwatering good. The crinkle fries were also the perfect size. This place could only be improved by having milkshakes on the menu to help with the heat. I haven't tried their breakfast yet (only on weekends from 9am-noon), but if you find yourself at Depot Park from 12-8 Thurs - Mon, this is definitely a great stop for lunch or dinner. read more

Place: this is the main reason for this two star rating. We did not know we would be victims of the environment when we chose to eat here. It was SWELTERING inside, there was no air conditioning mechanism in sight, there was no breeze to alleviate the heat, and the establishment only sold canned sodas so no refills to douse your hot insides with cold beverages. It's situated in a beautiful area and there was an outdoor tented option but it was really too hot to enjoy. People: I felt bad for the guy cooking because it had to be hotter where he was than where we were. The heat he may have been experiencing may explain his abrupt service. Product: It was ok.
